  1. Jo, I left a response to your comment yesterday, basically the state suspended the requirement during the pandemic so you probably skated through due to that. You can now start studying for five years from now lol

  2. Good afternoon! Look at that cute blue jay! Great shot. Where is everyone? Raptured?

Art and I went to a distant Social Security office to get things started for my retirement benefit. Next I will have a phone appt. in Dec. They are way backed up. We went to that office which is near F D R State Park and yhe Little White House. I thought I might get some nice pictures on the mountain. Leaves had not turned much so I took only a few photos.

  3. My brother and sis in law are up from Boise. Arrived yesterday and left this morning. They are headed to CDA to talk to a lawyer about getting access to our mountain property. They return Friday.

And I have been working at polishing and restoring the silver my folks got on their silver anniversary. My mom used to keep it polished but she died some forty plus years ago.

  4. A friend was recently tasked with cleaning/polishing some old silver. What did you use on it, Mumsee? I used a paste which is applied, allowed to dry, and then wiped off. She seemed to be using another method.

  5. Well, I guess Dj is taking one for the rest of us. Someone said that online and in person makes a difference on the test. One way allows you to make more mistakes.
But of course I can’t remember which is which. 🙂

  6. I thought you could miss 6, either way. Which sounds generous but, like with everything, “it depends.”

I’m inclined to just go in and take the thing — online you have to provide a camera access so they know you’re not cheating …

Meanwhile, I’m in a bind with trying to get Abby onto a different flea medication but nothing can be actually prescribed without the vet seeing her.

Because Abby won’t get into the car — and I’ve chosen not to make a vet appointment part of that car experience right away if I can help it — I’m kind of stuck.

Vet office manager whom I’ve dealt with forever, of course, said her 100 lb German shepherd never would get into the car on his own, so I didn’t really want to hear that!

Maybe if I have to force Abby into the car the vet can promise to roll out a big T-bone steak feast for her with a dog party on the other end so it will all be a HAPPY experience for her.

    Anything for Abby.

  7. Since the weather was so pleasant, Art and I had dinner on our favarite deck at the small airport restaurant. The airport was very busy.

I had the barrimundi Australian fish again. So good. Art had a BLT.

I told Art one reason I like it there so much is the wide open space feels head clearing like the wide open space at the beach. Also, the roar of the planes reminds of the roar of ocean waves.

And when young, I heard all the airport noises within a quarter mile, but never saw the runways from our home. I think I’ll never grow tired of going there.

  8. Airport, beach … Janice has a creative imagination!

I used to go to LAX when I was growing up with my dad, to watch the planes land at first and, later, in my teens, with a couple friends, to see and get autographs from the rock stars coming in to LA.

When I started driving, I used to just like cruising through LAX … but honestly, it’s grown even more now, by leaps and bounds, and is a traffic mess, I’d never go there if I didn’t have to! -dj

  9. My cousins lived right under the flight path, worse than where we were, and everyone would have to just stop talking when a plane went over and we all were there for a holiday or other gathering. -dj

  10. email from the dog obedience club I belong to:

    ~ Dear Members,

It’s that time of year to start reflecting on your dog’s accomplishments. Did your dog earn any new titles? Would you like to celebrate with the club? If so, this is the email you’ve been waiting for!

Please find attached the 2023 Awards Form. If you earned a title, either in-person or virtually, and would like to receive recognition from the club…please fill out and return this form. ~

  11. Several years ago, a newspaper agreed to publish an obituary for a dog, because of how well-written and poignant it was. It was funny and sweet, and sad, too, of course, due to the death of the dog. The family, who took him in after other owners had given up on him, called him The Best Worst Dog Ever. 🙂 (I could be mistaken about the “Ever”, but it seems to go with the rest.)

  12. As for my Heidi, Hubby and I would say (and I still say it) that what she lacks in brains, she makes up for in heart.

That’s especially true now that she seems to have some doggie dementia. She even has that “sundowning” aspect, walking around in a restless sort of way, at a time when she used to be chilling out with me in the living room.
