DJ, everybody is asking, maybe out of fear for ourselves, why do you need to take the written test. I thought that was only for waiting too long after expiration of the old license, maybe by years.
Good morning, all. I just about finished my Christmas shopping. A quick trip to Christian Books but then broke my longstanding rule of not shopping Amazon for a quick dip and done.
Thanks, AJ, for the link you sent to an overnight bag at Sam’s. I ended up ordering a Samsonite set from Sam’s of a small rolling carryon with a backpack that can attach to the rolling bag. I think those two will meet our needs at such times and would be useful if ever I had need to fly anywhere. I had not thought to look at Sam’s. Thanks, again, Brother in Christ.
I was in a prayer group this morning and someone prayed about our need to represent both the left and right side of the brain when speaking of how God moves.
I’m finishing up this morning on Romans 6 and then was going to move into Romans 7–possibly using two Bible Project videoes on the Law (as in, what is the Torah, and also what’s the point of the LAW).
But, after this reminder about the different learning styles (and because Paul is SO HEAVY on LAW), I decided to try something different after we finish the last couple Romans 6 questions.
I’m going to pass out paper, have them fold it, hand them a basket of crayons/markers, and have them illustrate LAW on one side and GRACE on the other.
This should be fun–and I like to keep these old ladies guessing (myself included)!
We have a set of suitcases like that, Janice. They have been very handy. The rolling one expands, too, if you bring back more than you brought (or just overpack). We also got the set at Sam’s, but with the big suitcase also. That one is much less used, since we travel less for long periods of time.
Driver’s written test is required in CA when you hit a certain age. It’s been that way since the 1970s but you don’t really notice it until you hit that age and say “Wha?” …
One more thing to juggle right now.
And senior editor tends to be cranky generally, more of late, luckily we only deal with him when our regular (wonderful) editor is out and he’s back today. Whew.
! There’s a “mean face” on the huge tree trunk in my backyard where the branches were trimmed. It was covered up before! Yikes, kind of unnerving.
Still trying to arrange a quick, new brainstorming session with the dog trainer with this ongoing impasse with Abby and the car.
Dj, when I renewed my license last summer I did not have to take a written test. And they renewed it for five years. I’m pretty sure that I’m older than you! Also it seemed like they had just found out something the day before that changed when you had to take the written test. Looks like it may be 80.
My 80 year old friend said the test is quite hard. Needing to know lots of picky details.
Jo, the requirement was apparently suspended during the pandemic, you probably benefited by that timeline. 🙂
And yes, some questions are obvious (and even funny): When entering a construction zone you should: (A) stop and watch the workers …
But others, yeah, how many square feet when there’s a dotted center line and your’e turning left from a two-way street onto a one-way street …. (I’ve jumbled some scenarios there, but you get the point!)
What?
Someone also said they got a question about how much the fine was for abandoning an animal from your car. OK, there’s a fine, that’s good information, but why is it “that” important for us to know the fine amount, exactly?
Good morning!
Too much chocolate kept me awake last night.
Christmas shopping already? I found a Christmas devotional related to G K Chesterson writings that I thought might be good for literary son.

Are you able to let the cat of of the Christmas stocking and tell what you bought more specifically, Mumsee?

What’s up with a cat in a Christmas stocking?

They LOVED having to illustrate Gospel and Law!
I also threw in a “prophetic act,” whereby one of my 90-year-olds stood with her arms crossed and her face scowling–to represent the LAW.
I then breezed past, laughing and swirling–grace and joy!
We’ll do lesson 7 next week. LOL
