  1. My husband will play music, with his group, for an hour at a local fair today. We will enjoy visiting with others there and checking out the exhibits. I always love to see the creativity of others, especially the quilts.

  2. Good morning, all. A beautiful day here. I know this because I am just in from out walking with my dad. He has been up since about two this morning. Up and dressed and waiting for the next corn hole event. But the grass is wet from the rain and he does not do wet.

  3. Morning! Cute little guy up there.. 🐿️

    Cloudy and misty 51 degrees

The deer and her triplets were out this morning…munched on the waning petunia blossoms in the wagon…go ahead as I am tired of keeping them alive!

  4. I might have eaten too much watermelon last night. I did not sleep much in the middle of the night so when I got up to make eggs I was still groggy. It’s very hot here, near 100°. It has been good to stay inside with the air conditioning which gets to be my BFF today.

It was clouding up, but I see it has brightened back up. We still hope for cooling rain.

Art and I may play Upwords tonight.

  5. I had trouble sleeping last night. I was just overwhelmed by the evil of the situation in Maui. I had to pray and sing and give it to God.
I even changed bedrooms and slept downstairs

  6. Hot and humid, so air conditioning and Chinese food. 🙂

Don’t want to heat the house up with the gas oven or stove. No dryer today either, which is good, because I didn’t feel like doing laundry anyway. 🙂

  7. Cute Chippy the Greeter on the header.😀

It did not rain at Art’s office so no break there like we got at home from the heat.

To go or not to go to the meal after church? With this new Covid in the air the stresses begin again. I still mask for PT and stores but not at church. We have a lot of children at church. I think Jesus was immune to germs!

  8. Good Sunday morning everyone!
I’m up early for morning coffee, then off to church. Then off to work right after church. Dad and I went to a cousin’s baby shower yesterday. We got to see extended family that we haven’t seen since the last funeral two years ago. It was nice to see each other at a happy occasion and catch up when we’re not all dressed in black. Several people took pictures with Dad and gave me knowing looks. He is still quite perky, but definitely seeming more frail than at any time in the past, especially to those who haven’t seen him in a while.

  9. Good morning all. A beautiful day here.

My dad has not gone to a family event with us in years because he can’t hear, other than his wife’s memorial in May. Now he just won’t use his hearing aids. Halfway through Lawrence Welk he may holler out, “Does anybody else want to hear this? I can’t hear anything.” So I crank it up a bit more and we all step outside and listen through the walls and windows. But he gets antsy if he can’t see me so I come back in once in a while.

  10. It was unusually “muggy” here yesterday, too, we’re finally having a string of days in the 80s — which really feels uncomfortable as we’ve had such a mild summer in the 70s.

I woke up around 2 a.m. the sound of a police helicopter circling very low right over our neighborhood, felt like it was almost going to land on my porch a couple times. I kept thinking, I probably should close the bedroom window in case some crazy person is running around, but I fell back asleep before I could act on that fleeting thought.

    Well, I survived the night.

I’m still using repellant when I remember, got another mosquito bite on y wrist sometime yesterday, so I have about 4-5 red welts on my right arm now (but the older ones are finally shrinking).

    Mosquitos do love me.

Janice, I finally remembered to put a couple masks in my car, I encountered a doctor’s office (for the thumb steroid shot) last week that required the masks, and I haven’t seen that in a while. (They had to provide me with one which I was fine with — their house, their rules.) Even my GP’s office quit requiring masks recently, but my guess is they’ll start that up again depending on the new variant spread numbers. Sigh.

Those with risk factors are still more vulnerable so it’s good when we can remember that as well. But most of us are “out of practice,” for sure.

  11. I opened the bathroom window to shoo off the bear last night!! Husband put the trash tote next to the garage saying the bear wouldn’t get in it…. I told him that was not a smart move…and I was right!! Trash tote is now in the garage!!

  12. Just got the big box from Chewy dot com, I’m trying pre-plan for the eye surgery dates coming up to make sure I am stocked on dog food.

Box is still on the front porch but I just got home from church — lots of chatting after the service which was good and uplifting.

And it’s hot comparatively speaking (80s)… I’ll retrieve it later. Cool breeze at church which is close to the beach.

We use the screens to project words to our hymns and all of the backdrops are scenes of waves and beaches, of course. 🙂

  13. Art and I did attend the luncheon, Family Meal, after church. It was Italian with spaghetti, sauce, meatballs, green salad, chicken fettichini, rolls, mac and cheese, and lemon pound cake. I have not been on here because I was napping this afternoon after all those carbs. A true Day of Rest😀

Trying to stay to ourselves, Art and I got a big round table by ourselves. At about the time we were going to leave, the couple who helped put in our basement door came to sit with us. (I feel sure this is the couple that Kare specifically prayed for to be part of my life before I started into this church.) Then our Sunday school teacher came to chat, and then another lady who had been to services at another large church. It was great to be with all, but hope for no Covid.

We were not planning to have dessert but found out the cake was made by the man who put in our basement door. He went to get cake for the four of us and came back with one whole piece for Art and me to share, literally, “the last piece,” while he and his wife had the leftover crumbs of cake!

  14. Wow, I totally didn’t realize it was Sunday until I saw your comments about church! I guess I’m still recovering from camp.

Janice, I’m so glad you’ve found such good friends at your new church.

We’re having a week of nice hot weather here and I’m going to enjoy it to the full. The last few weeks have been pretty cool for summer. I wore long pants (jeans) more often this summer than I have in the past 8 years combined.
