Prayer Requests 8-22-23

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 41

For the director of music. A psalm of David.

Blessed are those who have regard for the weak;
    the Lord delivers them in times of trouble.
The Lord protects and preserves them—
    they are counted among the blessed in the land—
    he does not give them over to the desire of their foes.
The Lord sustains them on their sickbed
    and restores them from their bed of illness.

I said, “Have mercy on me, Lord;
    heal me, for I have sinned against you.”
My enemies say of me in malice,
    “When will he die and his name perish?”
When one of them comes to see me,
    he speaks falsely, while his heart gathers slander;
    then he goes out and spreads it around.

All my enemies whisper together against me;
    they imagine the worst for me, saying,
“A vile disease has afflicted him;
    he will never get up from the place where he lies.”
Even my close friend,
    someone I trusted,
   one who shared my bread,
    has turned against me.

10 But may you have mercy on me, Lord;
    raise me up, that I may repay them.
11 I know that you are pleased with me,
    for my enemy does not triumph over me.
12 Because of my integrity you uphold me
    and set me in your presence forever.

13 Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel,
    from everlasting to everlasting.
   Amen and Amen.

  1. Prayers for my neighbors, she’s off to have a minor skin cancer removed from her leg — needed to clear the way (again) for the rescheduled, 2nd/last knee replacement surgery. They had to leave very early this morning, it’s an outpatient hospital procedure right down the street but always a chance they’ll keep her overnight, all depending on how she’s doing.

    Prayers for both of them, including her husband the caregiver, as this all has been such a strain on them for going on 3 years now. They are both very weary and struggling with it all. Praying they will see and feel a glimmer of hope and some respite soon.

    And yes, prayers for the nation, for wisdom for its people and for its leaders and its would-be leaders, for wise choices and behavior, for a lowering of the verbal temperature; that no violence erupts with all of the emotionalism that is taking over during this period we find ourselves in.

    For mercy and clarity, for God’s will to be done (as it will).

  2. My SIL was very saddened when a former student of his was killed in a car accident this week. She was a very good student according to him. Please pray for Jori’s family and friends.

  3. Praying.

    Surgery for my neighbor went well, she came home and crashed but sounded good, though tired, a few moments ago when we talked, she’s glad it’s behind her.

    Now just one more to go — the other knee in late September — which is the real light at the end of what’s been a very long tunnel for them.
