Prayer Requests 8-11-23

It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the nestlings.

Anyone else have something to share?

Psalm 30

A psalm. Of David.

I will exalt you, Lord,
    for you lifted me out of the depths
    and did not let my enemies gloat over me.
Lord my God, I called to you for help,
    and you healed me.
You, Lord, brought me up from the realm of the dead;
    you spared me from going down to the pit.

Sing the praises of the Lord, you his faithful people;
    praise his holy name.
For his anger lasts only a moment,
    but his favor lasts a lifetime;
   weeping may stay for the night,
    but rejoicing comes in the morning.

When I felt secure, I said,
    “I will never be shaken.”
Lord, when you favored me,
    you made my royal mountain stand firm;
   but when you hid your face,
    I was dismayed.

To you, Lord, I called;
    to the Lord I cried for mercy:
“What is gained if I am silenced,
    if I go down to the pit?
   Will the dust praise you?
    Will it proclaim your faithfulness?
10 Hear, Lord, and be merciful to me;
    Lord, be my help.”

11 You turned my wailing into dancing;
    you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
12 that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent.
    Lord my God, I will praise you forever.

  1. Prayers of thankfulness for our grandson coming home after his service in the military. Thankful he already has a good job offer fairly close to his parent’s home.

  2. Please pray for Mitch again. He is the one with two broken legs and diabetes. One caregiver, at his facility, tried to help him stand. He fell and has been in pain ever since. I have not heard yet what the X-rays show. It happened Monday and the X-rays were not given until Thursday. He was showing great progress before this.

  3. Apparently a six and twelve year old are missing since yesterday morning. Dropped off in a wooded area to walk home and have not made it. Prayer for all involved and safety.

  4. Oh, I sure hope they are found safe!!

    Janice, these places are always understaffed. All these places also just got several hundred thousand dollars of tax money. Like in many businesses the most money goes to the top.

    We will be at another assisted living facility today. Last time we were there, I talked with a woman who was very unhappy at the lack of understanding about her blood pressure issues and the medication she needed. She had been there just a few months. Maddening to be treated like a child, too, as she had been. Sometimes the workers are stymied by doctors who don’t give orders or make sure they can be reached. Anyone who has anyone in these places needs to stay on top of things. Fortunately, this woman has a daughter nearby. BTW, she pays an extra 1,000 a month to have them assist her in these things. The amount these places get in a month from each person is astounding.

  5. Kizzie, I don’t know, just one of those emergency alerts. Not an unusual thing to do around here at all. I have seen eight and ten year olds riding their ATv’s home from karate alone. People who live out in the woods tend to give their children more freedom and they tend to have pretty good skills. Not unusual to stop at the end of the driveway, which might be a couple miles long, and send the children home while running to a meeting or something.
