This is hilarious in a sad and pathetic way. From Todd Starnes on Fox and the Army Times.
Military Religious Freedom Foundation founder Mikey Weinstein told Army Times that Boykin’s invitation had caused great angst among soldiers at Fort Riley – leading some to break down in tears.
“I have clients of ours weeping on the phone about this,” he said.
Weeping? Oh, please.
“I sincerely doubt that America can expect to win wars if the people who are tasked to do so are frightened by an old retired general with biblical views and a testimony of faith,” Boykin told me.
Boykin, an original member of Delta Force and an executive vice president of the Family Research Council, was scheduled to deliver remarks at a June 6th prayer breakfast. The event was set to be held in conjunction with the 1st Infantry Division’s Victory Week celebration.
“San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo (D.) cast blame on Donald Trump for violence by anti-Trump protesters outside his rally Thursday night, telling the Associated Press that he “needs to take responsibility for the irresponsible behavior of his campaign.”
Liccardo, who has endorsed Hillary Clinton, lauded the work of the local police, but he said Trump’s presence in some cities served only to ignite anger. The AP reports:
“Our police officers have done an extremely courageous and professional job so far,” San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo told the Associated Press by phone. “We’re all still holding our breath to see the outcome of this dangerous and explosive situation.”
The mayor, a Democrat and Hillary Clinton supporter, criticized Trump for coming to cities and igniting problems that local police departments have to deal with.
“At some point Donald Trump needs to take responsibility for the irresponsible behavior of his campaign,” Liccardo said.
Trump supporters were assaulted and even pelted with eggs when they left a San Jose rally for the presumptive Republican nominee.”
———————————-
All while the mayor and his police force stood by and watched.
Disconcerting as it sends a message that violence is justified in this case — which goes back to the dangers inherent in the ‘Nazi’ accusations so often leveled against Trump
A lot of us don’t like or agree with him, but ‘nazi’ seems overwrought to me
It would help if Trump did not act like a Nazi:
1. Demagoguery targeting certain racial groups.
2. Incessant lying.
3. Threatening the free press.
4. Cult of personality.
5. Inciting supporters to violence.
6. Attacks of family members of opponents.
This writer doesn’t think we should trust Trump to appoint truly constitution-minded judges. Apparently, Trump has said the list he put out recently was just a guideline.
“The big picture on Trump and the Courts: Why constitutional originalists should be #NeverTrump all the way”
” Trump is not just a conventional Republican candidate. He wants to remake the GOP into a “workers party” (as he himself calls it), similar to the big-government right-wing nationalist parties of Western Europe, such as France’s National Front. Like Trump, these parties combine xenophobia and protectionism with a strong authoritarian streak, and support for an expansive welfare and regulatory state (so long as the beneficiaries are primarily people of the “right” racial and ethnic background).
“If Trump wins the presidency and his agenda is seen as a political success, he will have the opportunity to move the GOP further in a National Front-like direction. And a Trumpist/National Front party will have little use for limited government-originalist judicial philosophy. To the contrary, federalism, the separation of powers, and many individual rights limitations on government power would be an impediment to its agenda. A Trumpist GOP would, over time, seek to appoint judges in line with its priorities. . .
“Judges are not just the handmaidens of their party’s political agenda. They have an important measure of autonomy. But rarely will they be fundamentally at odds with that agenda – at least not for very long. Admittedly, Trump might not succeed in changing the GOP much, even if he becomes president: if he gets impeached or otherwise fails spectacularly, for example. But that won’t be much consolation to people who want the GOP to be able to make judicial appointments. The party would be (rightly) blamed for Trump’s failures, and its ability to win the White House and make future judicial appointments would be seriously impaired for quite some time.”
In case you haven’t noticed, or watched the videos, it’s not Trump inciting supporters to violence. That would be the democrat mayor above, the flag-burning illegal alien criminals, and other assorted leftist scum that’s doing that.
“The Obama administration is withholding from Congress and the American people detailed information about more than 86,000 illegal aliens who have committed serious crimes and continue to walk the streets in the United States, according to conversations with a member of Congress, who disclosed to the Washington Free Beacon that “if the public knew about this there would be total absolute outrage” over the matter.
Rep. Brian Babin (R., Texas) told the Free Beacon that the administration is trying to suppress information about the release of some 86,000 criminal illegal immigrants who have committed 231,000 crimes in just the past two and a half years.
Babin, who is spearheading new legislation to boost the deportation rate of these criminals, many of whom continue to walk free across America, warned that the administration is not taking action to deport these criminal illegal immigrants once they are freed from U.S. prisons.
“All I can think of is they don’t want the general public to know what’s going on,” Babin said in an interview. “When you have 86,000 criminal aliens committing 231,000 crimes just over the last two and half years, I don’t think they want the public to know what’s going on.”
“I think if the public knew about this there would be total absolute outrage,” Babin said. “I talk to some of these victims families, it’s just incredible to see what has happened and the fact these people served time for felonies, they’re released from prison, they’re illegally here, and then not being deported, so they go back to their life of crime.””

AJ, Really. I have seen a video of Trump at a rally saying he wanted to punch protesters.
Of course there are differences between Hitler and Trump:
1. Hitler killed civilians and committed war crimes. Trump only promised to do so.
2. Hitler never defrauded Germans out of millions of marks by running a fake university.
“Maya Dillard Smith, interim director of the Georgia chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, has resigned over the ACLU’s position on who can use which public restrooms. The resignation occurred after her two daughters were traumatized by encountering men in the women’s restroom. Dillard Smith explained:
I have shared my personal experience of having taken my elementary school age daughters into a women’s restroom when shortly after three transgender young adults, over six feet [tall] with deep voices, entered. My children were visibly frightened, concerned about their safety and left asking lots of questions for which I, like many parents, was ill-prepared to answer.
Dillard Smith complained that the ACLU has become “a special interest organization that promotes not all, but certain progressive rights” and that the “hierarchy of rights” the ACLU chooses to defend or ignore is “based on who is funding the organization’s lobbying activities.” Further expressing her disillusionment, Dillard Smith stated:
I understood it to be the ACLU’s goal to delicately balance competing rights to ensure that any infringements are narrowly tailored, that they do not create a hierarchy of rights, and that we are mindful of unintended consequences. I believe there are solutions that can provide accommodations for transgender people and balance the need to ensure women and girls are safe from those who might have malicious intent.
Unfortunately, as she has learned, Dillard Smith’s view of the ACLU bears little relation to reality. The ACLU’s goal — like that of the LGBT movement — is to shove a radical agenda down the throats of the American people, not to balance rights and find reasonable accommodations.””
Yeah, ‘cuz saying you want to punch somebody is the same as inciting people to violence. It’s just like rioting, attacking political opponents physically, as well as assaulting police, and destroying property. 🙄
And the Trump/Hitler comparisons are ridiculous. You’re better than that.
I’m used to leftist getting all in a tizzy and spouting such nonsense. Same for the press. I’ve read countless pieces, filled with nothing but biased opinion that pretty much tell you that, “hey, I’m not sayin’ he’s Hitler/the worst thing ever, but he could be….” It’s pathetic. Let’s not join them in such nonsense.
As you correctly pointed out in some of your other choices, there’s already plenty to dislike.
But I would also mostly disagree on 1 because it’s not demagoguery to point out obvious facts about certain groups, like the 15-20 million illegals, or the muslims that seek to harm us. It’s just pointing out an inconvenient truth. Someone needs to.
And 3 as well. Our unbiased press no longer is. That needs to be pointed out, and names named. If you’re writing, publishing, editing opinion and propaganda to sway the population to one side and presenting it as news, you should be called on it. I got no problem with it. Again, just pointing out an inconvenient truth that needed voicing.
For all his faults, Donald Trump is not committing acts of violence — unlike the contemptible goons who have descended on his rallies in recent months. That’s worth keeping in mind after Thursday’s bloody evening in San Jose, during which Trump supporters were pelted with eggs, vegetables, and bottles; had their “Make America Great Again” hats stolen and in some cases burned; and were punched or beaten.
San Jose is the latest in a series not of anti-Trump “protests” but of riots — the distinction seems to be lost on these courageous opponents of “hatred” and on their defenders in the media and elsewhere.
San Jose’s Democratic mayor, Sam Liccardo, suggested that it was “irresponsible” of Trump even to come to the city — or, put another way, Trump was wearing a short skirt, ergo . . . Apparently, any means justify anti-Trump ends.
For those in need of a First Amendment refresher course, the distinction between protests and riots is simple: To object to candidates with words of political dissent (i.e., not incitement to violence), and to peaceably assemble in order to propagate those words, are constitutionally protected rights; to destroy property and commit assault are not. Those are crimes, which should be prosecuted vigorously. …
Trump is not Hitler, and America is not on the threshold of a Reich. His opponents still have at their disposal all the tools of democratic persuasion, if they are so inclined to use them.
As Trump referred to Megyn Kelly’s menstrual cycle or posted unflattering photos of Heidi Cruz or cursed repeatedly in front of children, it was easy to consider him to be only an incredibly crude buffoon. However, if you could actually make yourself watch one of his speeches at a rally, it was readily apparent that he was something more sinister.
Hitler promoted violence between his brown shirts and leftists in order to make some middle class conservatives turn to him as the one who could defeat the communists. Trump has done the same thing. The violence started at Trump rallies as Trump encouraged his supporters to attack protesters. Now the left is violently attacking Trumpkins, and as Donna said, Trump could win this election one riot at a time.
There are many other ways that Trump is like Hitler:
1. The ridiculous scapegoating of a group. Hitler picked the Jews, and Trump picked the Mexicans. As Hitler blamed the Jews for all German problems, there was a net migration of Jews out of Germany. As Trump blamed the Mexicans for all our problems, there has been a net migration of Mexicans out of the U.S.
2. Unlike most politicians who advocate principles or ideas, both Hitler and Trump were incredibly vague about specifics, and stuck to savaging their enemies while demanding complete adherence to their Cults of Personality.
3. Both ran with a bad, bad crowd. Hitler had his group of perverts in the SA. Trump is buddies with Mike Tyson, Howard Stern and Jeffrey Epstein.
4. Both resist constitutional or institutional shackles. Trump has promised to attack the free press and has shown no understanding of the limited powers of the President.
5. Trump called Mexicans “rapists” and then invited an actual rapist (Bill Clinton) to his (third) wedding. Who knows? Perhaps Hitler might have invited a rapist to his wedding, but the potential guest list in the Fuehrer bunker was quite small.
In a recent campaign stop, Trump point to “my African American” supporter during some incoherent speech on media bias, jobs, ethnic supporters, etc. I found him quite patronizing and some sites/news were calling him racists for his remarks. However, what I found most amusing and telling was the fact his TRUMP sign was slowly falling off the podium as he spoke. The man wants to build a wall and he can’t even put a sign on his podium — too bad the press was distracted by the speech for the falling sign is a perfect metaphor for his incompetence. http://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2016/06/03/donald-trump-rally-african-american-kkk-sot.cnn/video/playlists/donald-trump/
The best comparative description of Trump is that he is a combination of Mussolini and Bozo the Clown. The Mussolini comparison works very well. Mussolini was not Hitler, but he was his closest ally.
Some of us don’t recognize the similarities between Hitler and Trump, but modern anti-Semites certainly do, and they have all rallied behind Herr Trump.

Not a big fan of Nazi analogies, if only it seems cliche or overkill. However, Karen’s link and Ricky’s later comments are accurate — he needs to be viewed in the same way as European style right wing populist parties such as the National Front. Parties that promise to restore a distant imaginary greatness to the nation by removing the foreign elements that have ruined the nation both materially and spiritually. Conservatives often align themselves to these groups on the basis of law and order and to oppose the socialist rabble. And in the delusional hope they can actually control these neo-fascists parties. A delusional hope since as Ricky points out these parties and more accurately their leaders have no respect for institutions of governance and division of powers. The leaders will also mix the personal with the political — as Trump has done with his current court cases.
Another similarity between Trump and an unnamed German leader of the mid 20th century is that both found their base of support among the uneducated lower middle class who could be easily fooled by their demagoguery. Both were opposed by courageous and intelligent orthodox Christian leaders, but both drew support from nominal Christians whose nationalism was stronger than their faith.
And then there’s Hillary Clinton. And Bernie Sanders.
The Democrats will not be undone.
As has been said before, 2016 is a distressing political year all the way around, there’s no joy in voting for (or not voting for) any of these people.
As someone has commented before, Trump is liable to win this election one riot at a time.
Haven’t they figured out yet that violence and waving the flag of Mexico only boosts his poll numbers at this point?

The man wants to build a wall and he can’t even put a sign on his podium — too bad the press was distracted by the speech for the falling sign is a perfect metaphor for his incompetence. http://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2016/06/03/donald-trump-rally-african-american-kkk-sot.cnn/video/playlists/donald-trump/
