  1. Resign ourselves to Trump vs. Clinton? Sigh.

We New Yorkers were excited by the fact that for the first time in 24 years (on the Democratic side) or the first time ever (on the Republican side), our votes were going to make a difference in the nomination of a presidential candidate.

    And did they ever. …

The next five contests over the next two weeks take place on fertile ground for Trump, and if his ability to gain ground persists, he is going to be aiming a dagger at the hearts of the so-called “#neverTrump” crowd.

Ted Cruz was never going to win New York or come remotely close. But he should have been able to do far better than a horrifying 15 percent. …

The more Cruz loses, the more he will look like a loser. He’d better start winning, or he won’t have a case to make, and those private assurances he has of support on the second ballot will remain private and will cease being assured.

  2. Several years ago, the olders set up a section for strawberries. They dug it all up to get rid of weeds, built trenches and hills, filled the trenches with newspaper and planted strawberries on the hills. They covered it all with black plastic with holes for each strawberry plant and weighted it down. And forgot about it so we did not get strawberries from that area. So today, I told the youngest to pull up the black plastic, dig up any weeds (helped them with that) that might have survived, and showed them how to plant the corn between the rows of well matted down newspapers. Eight year old was assigned the task of drilling holes with a fence post at equal distances and nine year old was to place a corn seed in each hole and bury it. I went off to mow around the rhubarb. When I got back, I found that nine year old was sitting down reading the newspapers which were no longer solid weed barriers but nice fluffs of old newspapers blowing in the wind. I explained again that without the weed barrier their job would be more difficult. He is out picking up the newspaper (though last seen, he was sitting down reading them) while eight put away her tools and gloves, moved her older sister’s (who is out at the end of the driveway having a temper tantrum) laundry, ate supper, and is waiting for her bedtime story. And so ends another day on the farmlette. Did I mention nine year old cannot actually read the newspapers? But he is fascinated by them.

  3. What is that post doing here? It was supposed to be somewhere else. I must be tired.

Anyway, I came here to say that a couple of the things I like about Ben Carson is that he thinks beyond race. He thinks more of people than to limit them by race. And he believes in a balance budget.
