😦 I just got a message the my former SS teacher, Dr. George Jones died last night.
Dr. Jones was the last surviving chaplain from WW II, so far as is known.
It’s not all bad. His mind was still good, but he was physically down for the last two years.
A real man of God.
Dr. Jones was 10 years and 17 days older than I am.
It is difficult to live with those physical problems. So much nicer to be with the Lord. So grievous for the love ones left behind. 😦 God knows and cares. 🙂
🙂 Little Luke and those like him who suffer so much from cancer and its pain.
🙂 God’s grace on his life and that of his family.
🙂 Our grandson’s nose is brace-free and healing well. He was able to go to school earlier than expected and will be singing at the Mall of America with his school group today.
😦 Even I am tired of this cold. I will be glad to have it OVER WITH! 🙂 My warm, cozy home. 🙂 My wonderful husband who makes me wonderful breakfasts. Berries and whip cream on pancakes. What a wonder to have berries etc. year round it would have been for many past generations. Only kings would have had what we have and take for granted.
😦 Lee has a cold, & I’m getting it, so we stayed home from church.
🙂 While Emily was getting ready for work, & puttering around upstairs, Forrest came downstairs to hang out with his Mimi & Papa.
Yesterday, realizing I hadn’t thought of getting anything for Forrest for Valentine’s Day (we usually just do “a little something”, like a small box of candy or small toy), I took a styrofoam plate & drew a heart & “Happy Valentine’s Day, Forrest” in pink sharpie. Then I took several Oreo-type cookies & bundled them up in a piece of plastic wrap, with a red yarn bow.
I told Emily & Lee that Forrest is too young to realize how lame that is. 🙂
Forrest was delighted with the cookies (his favorite packaged kind), & then wanted to decorate a styrofoam plate for me. 🙂
🙂 I also had decorated a styrofoam plate for Lee, drawing a heart with “I love you!” inside it, some other decorating around the perimeter of the plate, & writing along the inside perimeter, “Happy Valentine’s Day, Honey. Ain’t this fancy?” 🙂
I mentioned Dr. Jones dying.. His Son in Law was in SS today. He said that he died suddenly. He was going somewhere and fell. Fell dead. Likely dead before he hit the floor.
I said, “that’s the way I want to go!” Everyone agreed.
You’re 95.5 years old. Served the Lord 70 of those years.
Suddenly, you’re with the Lord.
🙂 Sold a book on Amazon I thought would never sell … I’d almost decided I should take it off the listing since it had been on there for months, but today I got a notice someone bought it, which should yield a few extra bucks. Yay.
🙂 Much to be thankful for.
🙂 Gorgeous weather
🙂 I’d be even more thankful for more rain.
😦 We are plagued by little black ants.
😦 I detest ants.
😦 My kitchen counters are black.
Sigh.

😦 After a totally alone birthday, with not even a greeting from anyone here, other than my class since I put it in the morning news
🙂 My fellowship group honored me the next day with a cheesecake and singing Happy Birthday in four part harmony, it brought tears to my eyes.
🙂 Got so many greetings on facebook, as Kare knows, it was over a hundred. Some were very special words of encouragement.
🙂 I used my birthday walk to think of past birthdays and rejoice in His goodness.
🙂 lost another pound towards my goal

😦 Obama is going to appoint a radical leftist to replace Scalia. And Congress will approve it.

I just learned that Dr. Jones died exactly on the fifth anniversary of his wife’s death.
Some coincidence.
It was all of a sudden.

God must have had a reason for taking Scalia now. It will be interesting to see the battle for the next judge.

Kathaleena,
It may be that He’s angry with America.
We’ll soon find out.
