Prayer Requests 1-2-16

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 54

¹Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy strength.

Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth.

For strangers are risen up against me, and oppressors seek after my soul: they have not set God before them. Selah.

Behold, God is mine helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul.

He shall reward evil unto mine enemies: cut them off in thy truth.

I will freely sacrifice unto thee: I will praise thy name, O Lord; for it is good.

For he hath delivered me out of all trouble: and mine eye hath seen his desire upon mine enemies.

  1. Here is an update from 6arrows on the need mentioned yesterday.

This will be my last update on Jody for a while, as we are preparing to go out of state for an extended family gathering tomorrow.

Randy & Jody had signed medical directives years ago, after Jody nearly died as a result of a tubal pregnancy. They decided they do not want to be kept alive by machines.

It is possible that Jody may not die if the machines she’s attached to are unplugged–her heart is pumping at nearly full capacity. But Randy has decided that they will unhook her when Tatyanna is accepting of this. (It sounds like she is the only one who is resistant to the idea.)

Please pray for Randy. He is feeling very guilty about how little time he’s spent with Tatyanna since Christmas Eve, when all this happened. He is hardly eating, and has not left the hospital at all since Jody was admitted. Tatyanna comes and goes every day.

Please especially pray for Tatyanna. She has been in a state of rebellion against Randy & Jody for a few years now. (She is 17.) She was adopted under an open adoption plan, and has been in contact with her birth mother her whole life, and now with her birth father, too, who married her birth mother after several years of not associating with her at all. Tatyanna has been speaking ill of her adoptive parents for years now, and whenever Randy & Jody denied her anything, Tatyanna would go to her birth parent(s) and complain, and she would receive exactly what she wanted from them. So they are cool, and Randy & Jody are hateful, in her thinking.

Now since this all happened to Jody, Tatyanna is posting how much she loves her adoptive mom. All of the former hate she regularly spoke and wrote about her and Randy is gone. She also posts glowing reports about her mom’s progress, which are not realities. She likely is feeling strong guilt over how she treated Jody, and is wishing she had a chance to show love to her mom now.

I have a friend who told me that her own mom died when my friend was 17, and it took her a long time to get over her regret about the stormy relationship she and her mom had been having at the time of her death.

Please pray for Tatyanna, and her relationship with Randy, and whatever else you can think of.

My brother and sister-in-law and the other couples who are in Randy & Jody’s close circle of friends were asked by Randy to come to the hospital to be with him this afternoon. My SIL Teresa believes this might be the final goodbye.

Thank you all for your prayers. This is weighing more heavily on my mind than I expected it would be, not knowing the couple very well, and it helps me to process it in writing. I appreciate your listening, and I know Randy greatly appreciates all your prayers.

  2. Thank you for passing Jody’s situation along here, RKessler. I’m sorry I couldn’t email you all, but decided I should come back on here to request prayer for Randy, Jody & Tatyanna so that many more can be praying for them. I’m glad to see you did just that.

Thank you for all your prayers.

I feel like a deserter, though, knowing many of you have prayer needs, and I walked away from here. Praying in a general way sometimes doesn’t feel like enough, though I know God hears all prayers, and we don’t need to know all the details when we pray. (We’ll never know them all, anyway.)

Tonight I went back over the prayer threads posted since Christmas Eve. My condolences to you and your family, KBells, on the passing of your mother. So sorry. May the Lord comfort you in your grieving.

God bless you all in this new year. I miss you. Our family is doing well.

  3. From my SIL in an email just now:

Tatyanna posted that if anyone wanted to come to say goodbye to Jody to come before tomorrow night. So they must be going to take her organs Monday morning or maybe Sunday evening.

Jody is a believer. She had taken the Lord’s supper only minutes before she collapsed.

God be praised for His tender mercies. Please continue to pray for this precious family.

  4. Prayer please, for nine year old as he struggles with asthma. I think the cold triggers it, so we have been keeping him in. But he did catch a cold a while back and that triggers it as well. Wisdom on dealing with it. And husband’s lung issues as well. Thanks.

  5. R is back to some of his old ways again, like harassing Emily with texts, & finding something to complain about every time he picks up Forrest. (Today it was about a rip in the knee of Forrest’s pants. He finds some little thing, & blows it all out of proportion, casting aspersions on her mothering.)

I could hear a difference in his voice when he called the other night, to see if Emily & Forrest were home. (They were out with a friend of hers, & she wasn’t replying to his texts). When I heard that difference in his voice – from polite-sounding to not-quite-aggressive-but-close, I knew something was up.

This is just so wearying & frustrating to Emily (to us, too, but mostly for her). Please pray that these renewed difficulties with R will help “drive” her to her knees in surrender to Christ. And also for R’s salvation.

    Thank you.
