Prayer Requests 5-6-15

It’s Wednesday, so don’t forget to pray for The Gambia.

Also, let’s keep Joanne/Ajisuun in prayer as well. Her return to The Gambia has been delayed by some medical roadblocks. Let’s pray for her, the health concerns, and that she will eventually be able to return to The Gambia to continue ministering to the folks there.

Psalm 133

¹Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;

As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

  1. Thank you all who prayed for me yesterday or sent me a word of encouragement. Today is a new day and while I haven’t slept much I will face it.
I think I may need to look in to taking some classes to sharpen my skills some. I started to figure the square footage of a building I measured yesterday using graph paper. One of the guys (23) stared and said he uses Excel for that. The other one said he didn’t care how I did it but there were easier ways. I have struggled learning PowerPoint. The last time I used it was in graduate school 1999-2001. It has changed a lot since then. I am not a creative person when it comes to things like that and to have everything I do critiqued makes me nervous and then I make stupid mistakes. We have a quirky addressing issue where one area is considered in one town but has the zip code of another. When I typed out an address I typed the zip code that usually goes with that town. Guy said a real estate agent ought to know about addresses. He may have thought he was teasing me yesterday but coming at the end of the day yesterday it just made me feel dumber.
Revisiting this is just making me cry so maybe I prayers again today

  2. Isn’t there an app for that like this one? https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/roomscan-app-that-draws-floor/id571436618?mt=8

Excel means formulas and I can’t imagine how I would function with it. Our architect friend had some devise when he went through our house that by holding up his phone gave him all the angles, distance and other information he needed. He measured the whole house in about 10 minutes and had a drawing on his Ipad soon thereafter . . . Just a thought.

  3. We have that ZIP/Address confusion in parts of our coverage area too, it causes no shortage of angst (especially in crime reporting where elected city officials are trying to disavow that bad things ever happen in within their borders).

But, yeah, maybe just doing some app searches could turn up some handy helps. Or googling ‘best apps for realtors/home sellers’ ?

  4. Prayer for R, please. He has been acting quite strange the past few days, & we fear he may be in the midst of some kind of mental breakdown (or maybe even what is called a psychotic break). We are used to him making stories about having friends in high places who are supposedly going to intervene for him in family court, but what he has been saying lately, & the manner in which he says it, seems more delusional than deceptive.

He says the people he is now working for are quite powerful, with the connotation being that they are dangerous, like the Mafia or something, & that he didn’t realize what he was getting into.

He showed up at our door at 6:00 this morning to make sure Forrest was here & safe. Later, some time after noon, he called to say that if we see a white, grey, or black car come down the lane, to keep Forrest safe.

The manner in which he says these things does not have the swagger & tough-guy attitude he usually has. He sounds genuinely worried, or scared.

There are three scenarios that could be going on here: He is making this all up for the dramatic effect – or – He is indeed in the midst of some mental break – or – It’s all really true, & he’s really gotten himself in trouble with dangerous people.

Whatever the case may be, may God radically save him, deliver him, & heal him (mentally/emotionally).

BTW, sometimes when he talks about these people, he makes it seem that they trust him & have his back, but at others it sounds like he’s scared of them.

  5. R called me a little while ago, to make sure everything is okay here. He said he has been “freaking out”, & “going crazy”. He also said that he had to quit his job because they weren’t scheduling his service calls correctly. He sounded pretty down, even apologetic for concerning us with his worries.

Then he said that he was at the hospital, maybe to be admitted to the psych ward again, but he wasn’t sure. I told him that I know it doesn’t mean much to him, but I am praying for him. He said he is not religious, but he appreciates the thought.

Besides praying for R, I also pray for his son, my precious grandson, to be protected from developing any mental illness or emotional instability. (R’s mother has also had some emotional problems, & was in a psych ward at least once.)

  6. What Kathaleena said. And also, it sounds to me like his heart may be softening even the smallest degree, that he said he appreciated the thought of you praying, Karen. One never knows how God could use the words “I am praying for you” to shine light into the deepest, darkest place and give him hope and a yearning for the only One Who is our source of true hope.

  7. Today was still hard but tomorrow is another day.
I knew you were praying for me. A bright spot was after looking at how much classes would cost I was even more distressed the prices were too high for me to do it. I mentioned it to our new receptionis. Her friend is an HR Manager and has sent her links to free tutorials to sharpen Office skills. She said she would share them with me
