Quotes of the Day
“The hardest thing to understand in the world is the income tax.”
Albert Einstein

“When the federal government spends more each year than it collects in tax revenues, it has three choices: It can raise taxes, print money, or borrow money. While these actions may benefit politicians, all three options are bad for average Americans.”

This seems appropriate for today.

Prayer Requests 4-15-15
It’s Wednesday, so don’t forget to pray for the folks in The Gambia.
Anyone else?
Psalm 113
¹Praise ye the Lord. Praise, O ye servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord.
2 Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forth and for evermore.
3 From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord‘s name is to be praised.
4 The Lord is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens.
5 Who is like unto the Lord our God, who dwelleth on high,
6 Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth!
7 He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill;
8 That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people.
9 He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the Lord.

Here’s one that seems appropriate reading for today. Just a reminder that we don’t have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem.
The federal govt is taxing more, spending more, and running bigger deficits in 2015.
From CNSNews “The federal government taxed away more money, spent more money and ran a bigger deficit in the first half of fiscal 2015 than it did in the first half of fiscal 2014, according to the Congressional Budget Office.
“The federal government ran a budget deficit of $430 billion for the first half of fiscal year 2015, CBO estimates–$17 billion more than the shortfall recorded in the same span last year,” the CBO said in its Monthly Budget Review for March 2015, which was published April 8. “Both revenues and outlays were about 7 percent higher than the amounts recorded in the first six months of fiscal year 2014.””
“In the first six months of fiscal 2014, the government took in approximately $1,323,000,000,000 in revenue, according to CBO. In the first six months of this fiscal year, it took in approximately $1,420,000,000,000—an increase of $98,000,000,000.
Meanwhile, the federal government spent approximately $1,736,000,000,000 in the first six months of fiscal 2014. It spent approximately $1,851,000,000,000 in the first six months of the fiscal year—an increase of $115,000,000,000 over last year.
Last year, the government ran a deficit of $413 billion in the first six months of the fiscal year. This year, it ran a deficit of $430 billion—a $17 billion increase over last year.”
We work hard, pay our taxes, budget responsibly, and spend within our means. Why can’t our federal govt be responsible adults like us? Same goes for the state govts.
Thank You!
Everyone,
Since I’m horrible with things like writing Thank You notes in a timely manner, I thought I’d do it here. Plus this way, I won’t forget anyone. 🙂
I just wanted to take the time to thank you all for everything you have done for us since my Mom’s passing. It’s been a blessing to have folks such as each of you being a part of it. You have helped us more than you know. Your prayers, cards, and condolences through the blog and other means helped ease our burden, and we’re thankful for them. It was very touching.
It also reminded me what a blessing you all are in my life. Though we’re all over the US and Canada, and even world-wide at times, I can talk to you all anytime, and about nearly anything. Even though we’re separated by distance, the friendship and closeness of this blog amazes me. It’s a joy and a pleasure to know you all.
Thank you,
Allen, Cheryl, and Elizabeth

Now the above was great, and such a blessing. But then you folks went above and beyond. 🙂
I’m not sure who all was involved at this point, but I know Kim was. 🙂
So thank you Ma’am, and thank you to her as yet unnamed co-conspirators as well. In the interest of accountability, I’d like to share some of the details with you all. 🙂
A collection was taken and some ideas were shared. Then a beautiful plant was delivered to us. I’d never had a peace lily before, but I must say I love it. Thank you all for that. 🙂
I’m also pleased to report that the lovely peace lily is thriving in the back room. That’s the one that gets the least sun, which from what I’ve read, is how you get them to thrive and flower. 🙂
Anyway, it turns out that due to the generosity of you folks, there was some money left over after the plant purchase. Kim and Linda coordinated a suggestion to take some of those remaining funds and send us to one of our favorite places for a meal. So now we have to plan a trip to Shady Maple. We’re hoping Linda and her husband, and anyone else in the area that would like too, will join us. We’ll figure out a date in the near future.
But that’s not all. Due to your kindness and generosity, there was still some money left over. Our family had requested anyone wishing to could make a donation to the ACS. But after discussing this, Kim and I have decided on another suggestion someone made. I mentioned what was being done to my father yesterday as well, and he approves. 🙂 So the remaining money has been sent to The Nest to aid Mumsee and Mike with their work. My mother loved kids, she had 6, and she would be honored to know this donation to their work with kids who desperately need it was made in her name.
And that’s still not all. Yesterday, some additional funds were received. So Kim will be passing them along as well. This time, to Jo, to aid in her work in PNG. 🙂
Should any additional funds be received, they will be disbursed amongst missionaries as well.
Again, thank you all so much for your love, kindness, and generosity. Not only has it been a blessing to us, as you can see it will bless others as well, and aid them in their work for our Lord. 🙂
Sincerely,
Allen

Psalm 112
¹Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.
2 His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.
3 Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.
4 Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.
5 A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion.
6 Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.
7 He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.
8 His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies.
9 He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour.
10 The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish.
