It’s Wednesday, so don’t forget to pray for The Gambia.
Anyone else have something to share?
Psalm 57
¹Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.
2 I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me.
3 He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth.
4 My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.
5 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth.
6 They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have digged a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen themselves. Selah.
7 My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.
8 Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.
9 I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations.
10 For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds.
11 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.
I went to bed last night with the beginnings of a head cold – not too bad, except that registration for summer camps opened last night at midnight and we’re expecting a very, very busy day on the phones today – I need to be at my best. My throat is sore, glands swollen, mild headache and just feeling the yuck of a cold.
About a year ago I asked you to pray for the father of my daughter’s close friend. Ron was dying and the family was grieving hard. L went back to college–she’s at USC–and is coping with what has been an extremely stressful year on a number of fronts. My daughter spends a lot of time with her, which is good for both of them and, frankly, maybe the reason she’s in LA this year.
Yesterday, L was hit by a car while crossing a street on her way to class. Cars stopped for her, but a BMW zoomed around a bus and hit her. I don’t know how long she was in the hospital, but she’s out with bruises, lacerations and a very aching head.
My daughter is in EMT classes for the next three weeks, nine hours a day, across town at UCLA and cannot tend L. Hopefully L’s mom is on her way down to be there, but I don’t know.
I’d like prayers for L, not just about this accident which hopefully won’t affect her seriously, but the other events swirling in her life. The grieving has been exacerbated by other relationships where the adults, IMHO, haven’t acted like adults.
R and I will be in LA for a very quick weekend of visiting with a lot of people. Wisdom if we should swing by on our way to my hometown and let this mom “take a look.”
Aforementioned daughter just called. We have much to be thankful for–L was on her bike and had just gotten ready to pedal down when the SUV hit her. That means she sprawled across the front of the car and banged her head on the windshield instead of being run over and killed.
Much to be thankful for . . . though it would have been nice if she’d been able to find her helmet that morning . . .
CR saw her, consoled her, and prayed. L already had a ticket home for Valentine’s day, so her mother will get her hands on her on Friday.
So, thanks be to God for preserving her life; continued healing. CR says L wants to curl up and be left alone (other than CR and her family), and needs to heal.
Husband needs prayer and God’s touch. He is in a lot of pain today and can’t stop shaking. He got a phone call yesterday from the arthritis folk. Seems his bloodwork was inconclusive on hepatitis so he needs more blood work. He has been in countries where that is a problem so it is possible.
The world is busy filling the days with difficulties, illness, disease, and bad attitudes. Thank You for being our only true help in trouble times. As for being our help, please help us all to more fully trust in You and Your solutions. Thank You for saving the life Michelle mentioned. May that help to prove You are at work in her life in Your timing and in Your way. I ask for a lessening of Kare’s cold symptoms. May she quickly recoup and have voice and energy to handle calls or else think of another way to do registration.
Please help Idaho Mike to get to feeling better. Help him to not sink under the pain. Lift him up. Give him Your supernatural doses of encouragement each day. Please help the children to stay safe as they care for the animals. You know what each life, human and animal, needs to thrive. Thank You for Your caring provision. Please give Michelle good travels with her husband. Bless her daughter in her studies and may she find long distance ways to encourage her friend.
I ask Your continuing goodness to be evident in each life that visits this site and also upon their loved ones. We are all Your sheep, once lambs, who you saved from slaughter. May we honor You with our lives and hearts dedicated to You. In Jesus, Amen
Mama fell and is in the hospital. She is miserable and doesn’t know what is happening. Doctors have said she will not get better. Please pray that it will not be long, lingering situation. She is ready to go home.
Thanks for praying. Husband’s blood is off to Seattle. They neglected to tell me and I neglected to remember that I was not supposed to eat before blood drawing so I have to go back tomorrow. Logistics….The kid died. The others appear well.
