My sister and her husband, along with my new nephew, Deste, are in Spartanburg, South Carolina. They lived there for the first ten years of their marriage. They are hoping to raise funding for their work in Africa. Linda, my sister, has hopes of opening a home for some of the street children in Kibigora, Rwanda, of which there are many. Tim, her husband, is a general surgeon. There is a dearth of doctors, especially surgeons, in that part of the world. Please pray for them to reach their fundraising goals. Also, my sister has been sick with a severe sinus infection for three weeks and is feeling run-down. She is scheduled to give a two-hour presentation tonight before a large audience. Fortunately, she is both a gifted speaker and writer, but she’s asking for prayers for health, strength, and energy (Deste is an awesome kid and a true blessing to our family, but at six, he has tons of energy and separation anxiety–he wants to be near Momma Linda at all times. Linda has the patience of Job and loves him fiercely, but is exhausted from her illness). Thanks.
If anyone is interested in learning more about their mission work, my sister writes a blog, which can be found by googling Berg Family Africa. Sorry, but I don’t know how to add a link. I know, I’m completely computer illiterate!

There is a crying need for more doctor in Africa. I read that in Liberia, there was only 1 physician and 27 nurses to 100,000 people. Now, many of those workers have died. Sadly, it seems harder and harder to recruit medical missionaries.
I would like to just ask for general prayers for BG. I have seen so many improvements in her over the last few months, but there are still a couple of things that concern the mommy in me.
Will do, Kim. Prayers, too, for my fifteen year old, L. Her attitude has not been the best lately. We are in a battle of wills over who’s in charge of her life. Of course, ultimately God is, but we are trying to guide her along life’s road. Please pray for a tender heart, one that is pierced by the things of God.
