  1. Catch a big one Aj.
An hour and a half into your day and only Aj has commented.???
everyone must be busy on this Friday.
I am so tired, time to sleep
Actually went out to aviation today, so it was an adventure going a mile off centre.
And, God allowed me to bless some folks leaving by taking food. Turns out they were starving.

  2. Good morning, or evening, Jo!

Hope the fish like AJs bait.

The day lily is ‘Barracuda Bay’. The edges on the petals look a bit like sharks’ teeth.

Since my brother still has remnants of his cold, during the funeral he had to blow his nose while sitting up front with the pallbearers. He waited until after the pastor did a prayer. It just so happened to be right before Amazing Grace was played on one of the small tuba like instruments. I almost giggled because it sounded like my brother’s nose blowing was a lead in for the hymn. I did not giggle though because the Holy Spirit helped me to not act so inappropriately.

  3. Good morning.

It’s not my place to tell anyone when my birthday is. But my husband has layers cooling for a cake, and this evening we’ll go out to a nice restaurant (our first time there, but my in-laws like it).

I brought a sweet collie puppy home nine-and-a-half years ago today, and now I have a dog who is just beginning to “look” like an old dog but who still thinks she is a puppy.

  4. Happy Birthday Cheryl?
It’s Friday You know what that means!
No Lions today. We had our Awards Banquet last night.
I mentioned that Elvera was likely bored. But she had some good prime rib.
Michelle suggested some game she could play, likely on a smart phone.
    Wouldn’t work.
    1. She wouldn’t know how to work it.
    2. It wouldn’t be polite.
    3. She has infinite patience and likely didn’t mind at all.

    It’s raining today.
    🙂 The ground needs it.
🙂 I have an excuse not to trim bushes.

  5. Happy Birthday Cheryl!! And happy coming home day to Misten 🙂
The flower is most beautiful…I saw one of those the other day at the nursery and was impressed how the edges appeared to be ruffled….lilies make me sneeze so I never cut them off to bring indoors…outside we can be friends 🙂
The pine pollen has been horrid this year, making it difficult to be outdoors due to sneezing, eyes burning, watering and itching…while everyone around us has gotten rain enough to wash that stuff away….we have missed getting a drop of rain…one of those years!

  6. Happy Birthday Cheryl. Hope you have a great day. I had a really scary moment this morning. I got up, went through my morning routine. Fridays are a little more casual at work, although I am not one to wear blue jeans. I was headed to my closet to get dressed and I couldn’t remember what day it was. Sure I could have gone and looked at the date on my phone but I didn’t know what day of the week it was. I had to start thinking back to I know Wednesday I went to the Mobile office and that was the day before yesterday, so it must be Friday….It only lasted a moment, but for that moment I was panicked.

  7. I want to have flowers again. I want a tiny little yard that is all mine. I want white adirondack chairs and a little table to hold a cup of tea and a book.

  8. It is probably small comfort for you, Kim, to know that many of us do that many days. (Forget what day it is, that is!)

    The flower is beautiful.

Chas you are so old fashioned to worry about being rude with a cell phone. Me, too. 🙂
I am sure your wife can keep herself from being bored quite well, however. She sounds way too wise to be bored.

Happy birthday, Cheryl. Enjoy it all.

  9. Michelle- Re: your copy/paste issue

Whenever you paste something into Word, there should be a small icon appearing at the bottom of the pasted section. Hold your cursor over the icon and three formatting choices appear: keep the source formatting, merge formatting, or use formatting of the document to which you are pasting. I’m not sure what merge does, but the other two are obvious.

No money and arms to any group in Syria. There are no good guys over there. Same for Iraq. It’s a lose-lose situation.
The same thing will happen in Afghanistan if we take all of our troops out.

I had a brilliant question of the day when I was praying for all of you at 1:30 this morning . . . . Lost, now!

  12. Oops! Some of my happy faces and letters misbehaved. But the message is still meant to cheer!

Thanks for the likes on the flower. I went with friends to a day lily farm to pick what I liked. I only got this one variety which was not one of the more expensive. The friends I was with each selected three varieties. One friend went there annually to get daylilies. She and her husband own the timeshare we stayed at. It was a really fun thing for three middle age ladies to do on vacation together.

  13. Happy birthday Cheryl 🌯 — From California.

(I forgot how to make a heart — that’s the only little icon I could remember this morning.)

Kim, it occurred to me last night when I read how you’re going to have to vacate your home for several hours on Sunday evening — what about all your animals? I gather you couldn’t leave them there?

And I knew that was a ‘southern’ flower.

Janice, did you ever see that Mary Tyler Moore episode where she couldn’t stop laughing at a funeral? Luckily the service was for their TV station’s clown.

Chas, I suspect Elvera is a good conversationalist. That makes all the difference in getting through events like that. I didn’t used to be but have been able to hone the skill through my job. It’s a life saver when you don’t know too many people around you.

  14. Donna, I watched a lot of Mary Tyler Moore, but I don’t remember seeing that one. The daughter of the deceased is a professional clarinet player/instructor so I am sure my brother’s addition to the program did not go unnoticed by her or her son who also plays an instrument.

The other goofy thing that happened was the card on the flowers only had my name on it. It was suppose to have my brother’s name first, then my husband’s name with mine and then our son’s name. Not sure what happened about that.

Donna, to make a heart use the left pointing arrow and next the number 3. Be sure to put spaces before and after the ‘heart’ so it will format properly.

  15. It was the funeral for Chuckles the Clown. Thank you Nick at Nite.
Donna, the reason I wanted her to come earlier on Sunday was because we could take the dogs to the dog park. They close the park at sundown.

Don’t ever mention this to Elvera.
If I thought she would see this, I wouldn’t post it.
    Just a secret between us.
I was out trimming bushes. I went over to the front porch area, which I had done yesterday..
I thought I saw a stick on one of the bushes.
When I went over, it slid away..
A snake. Little over two feet long. Harmless to you and me.
    A garter snake, I think.

But if she saw it, we would likely be gone by sundown.
She would think that snake was waiting there get her.

We’ve been here since May 2001 and this is the second snake I have seen.
The other was a black snake trying to get into the garage. I went over and it reared up. I kicked it in the face with the soles of my sneakers. It slid away.
I haven’t told her about that.

Just a secret between us. OK?.

  17. Let me preface this by saying I HATE WORD. It still grieves me, after all these years, that it won out over Word Perfect, which I thought was a far superior product. That being said, much/most of our frustrations (mine, and I’m assuming Michelle’s) is because we don’t know how to do something – not that it can’t be done. For example, Michelle had issues pasting a picture into a document, however, if you right-click on the picture, there are all kinds of options for how it gets placed on the page in conjunction with the text. Unfortunately, it’s all very complicated. I guess it’s one of those things that has become so sophisticated that it’s very hard to use. All I know is that whenever I get frustrated enough to scream or bang on my keyboard, hubby (who is a Word guru) comes over and says, “All you have to do is …” and click, click, click, it’s solved.

  18. Hi, Jo. In our discussion of missionary support on Wednesday you asked me about the SIL couple who visited our church last Sunday. George and Mary served as translators and editors mostly in Africa — Suriname and Kenya. Now they’re back in the States — I confess to being a little fuzzy about their current assignment.

  20. You had to see the whole show, Janice; for 20 minutes, the newsroom made jokes and Mary was outraged. That’s why it was so funny she fell apart at the end.

Sigh, they just don’t make TV shows like they used to . . . .

  21. My mother was not allowed to watch television growing up in the fifties; her father especially objected to Westerns, saying “Don’t want you watching all that shootin’ and bangin’.” His put downs of TV shows were always classic, like the time he walked into the living room to see one of his grandsons watching Star Trek and said, turning to leave, “I see you’re watching that flying cowpat [another phrase for ‘cow chip’] again.” When, in my late teens, I started to watch some of those old TV shows as they came out on DVD, I was puzzled as to why my highly conservative elders seemed to remember them with such fondness; because to me, they seemed very risqué, like the constant references to sex appeal in the Beverly Hillbillies. I tried to watch the Mary Tyler Moore show once and gave up in disgust at all the sexual innuendo in it.

  23. Take care, Jo — I remember the fatigue. 😦

And the tickly throat. When I got back to work I had to cover a court hearing and had to surreptitiously slip cough drops from my satchel into my mouth (NO food or beverages allowed by the judge in the courtroom).

But when it was gone, it was GONE. 🙂
