  1. 🙂
We Lions got the final tally of the food delivery we had at the Storehouse last Friday. Over 600# of food and over $300 in cash. They do good things and we try to help.

  2. 😦 feeling slightly grumpa as I do some curriculum mapping that I had no idea I was supposed to do, hadn’t even been mentioned. And, of course, it needs to be done this weekend.
🙂 But, what I left undone was the Bible curriculum. And, it is good to go through and look at the plan and the verses for the whole year. We have a curriculum, but I modify it and now I will have an official record.
😦 A lot of work to do and a very busy week with our visiting WASC team here.
🙂 Next weekend is Easter and we have a four day weekend!

  3. 🙂 Glad it’s Saturday. I really needed it.

😦 Very long day at work yesterday, began with having to stand out in front of one of our local high schools as we tried finding people who knew some of the kids who were on that bus that crashed the night before in northern California. I had a major feature I had to write for the weekend and that threw me completely off. Then the top editor pulled us all in for what turned out to be a 90-minute staff meeting (basically laying a heavier load on all of us; I found myself scraping the yellow paint off the pencil I was holding under the conference table the whole time he talked! arrgh.). By that time, finishing the feature was impossible, of course. So I found another news story to write instead but didn’t get home until almost 7:30 p.m., exhausted & frustrated.

🙂 At least I got a very long and good night’s sleep last night after all of that (and considering I already was short on sleep from the night before, it felt very good, though I don’t exactly feel “bouncy” today).

😦 Found a dead lizard on the floor.

  4. I had three larges bushes on the east side of my house. More than three, but the three died over the winter. I don’t know what I will put there. I haven’t had much luck with azaleas. I may have the soil tested before planting. That means I will have nothing there this summer..

  6. 🙂 Very busy but lovely day yesterday. The retreat speaker works with a ministry called Caring for the Heart: http://www.caringfortheheart.com/. She was very good, and one of our PCC volunteers, speaking about how often we will pray for forgiveness and recognize God’s forgiveness, but still not “feel” it. Often we struggle with the pain left from whatever bruising incident we had in our life.

🙂 This prayer ministry takes “Jesus into the pain,” to allow healing to begin. Made a lot of sense to us, and I believe is important.

😦 One of the women sitting with me at lunch, R, is a mid-forties divorcee. After the other middle-aged volunteer at the table went into a typical harrangue about the changing mores of society and so forth (I agreed with her, but I don’t like it when people get fixated and go on and on . . . ), R said, “but aren’t Christian mores changing with the times? Don’t single people sleep with each other without the benefit of marriage?
    (This was a PCC function . . . )

🙂 The others at the table were a 30-something couple with three small children. We had quite a discussion.

😦 R had been establishing relationships with two men (at different times) from a well-regarded evangelical church in our community. Both men had told her they were not interested in pursuing relationships with a woman who would not sleep with them.

(Points for being upfront, but we all were shocked and appalled).

😦 R: I’ve only been a Christian for ten years, so one of them started explaining to me . . . and when into a distorted description of “grooming for sexuality” in my mind. This sly man was explaining the Greek word for porneia . . . that Paul couldn’t have meant people shouldn’t sleep together, that adultery was only between married couples and so forth . . .

    “I’m confused,” she said.

🙂 We were all over that, with Scripture, a male perspective from the husband, encouragement that the Holy Spirit was working in her to recognize the falseness of this guy’s line, horror that a man would proposition her under the guise of Scripture and fill in the rest of the blanks at your own convenience.

😦 While she recognized she didn’t want to get into bed with a man not married to her nor interested in establishing a relationship before he slept with her, I’m not sure she accepted our Biblical advice at the end.

😦 Satan is at work. That liar and thief is deceiving a lot of foolish people.

  7. Michelle, that “fact of life” (that premarital sex is hardly seen as a sin . . . and even those who “avoid it” still usually have crossed a lot of sexual lines short of intercourse) bothers me. And it bothers me more now that I’m married and understand the intimacy and vulnerability involved. Premarital sex is not the unpardonable sin, but it is a serious sin, and it is a very destructive sin.

🙂 Spring is here: crocuses blooming in large numbers daily, the trees swelling in anticipation of leaf and flower, birds courting and singing.

🙂 I’ve had some really, really good conversations with my sister this week. She has been hurting, and I think maybe she has realized more than ever before how much I love her and that she can really share her heart with me. (She distanced herself a bit from me–she has told me as much–after she married, but I’ve stayed in there with her, visiting when she has needs, remembering all her children’s birthdays each year, and so forth.)

🙂 I’ve gotten some great bird pix this week, a big part of the reason I got the new camera.

😦 The project I am working on is tedious, and it’s hard to stay focused.

  8. 🙂 We attended a lovely Seder meal with our grandson and daughter. The meal was explained, while we partook. The symbols that point to Jesus were explained, too. Then the matzo was used as communion for our grandson and the others having their first Communion. It was a good way to start that practice. I was sorry my SIL had to miss it. All family members can come and be part, but they do not want younger siblings, so that when they take this step it will be meaningful for them. Babysitters and pizza were provided for them.

🙂 Husband’s jam group performed for a Servicemen’s Club benefit. 😦 Unfortunately, there was a fight with the cook and someone who complained about him scratching up the stove when he scrubbed it with something not allowed. The cook overturned a table and walked out. The servers packed up the food and left before some got their meals or dessert. An interesting evening to be sure, but sad to see grown people behaving that way.

🙂 The group played for a lady’s 90th birthday this afternoon. She is the one who gets the group to play, several times a year, at her senior living apartment building. It was a very nice party. I knew several people there, so was able to have nice visits with them, too.

😦 This jam may turn into work, if they are not careful!

  9. 🙂 My SIL was also able to get two internships for next fall at the schools he wanted. Not everyone was able to get them, so he was very happy about it.

  10. 🙂 My neighbors have two new puppies — 10-week-old Labs (one white, one black), litter mates — Maverick & Sundance. Spent about an hour in their backyard visiting today, puppies are so cute.

🙂 I also sat outside in my own backyard patio for a while late this afternoon reading Romans — the wind was rustling through the trees, Annie was lying on a patio chair pillow that was on the ground a few feet away catching the last rays of the afternoon sun, and Cowboy was lying next to my chair. I guess Tess stayed indoors on my bed. 🙂

  11. 😦 Worn out.

🙂 But it’s the good kind of tired, since I spent the lovely day outside scraping and painting the south side of our 80 year old garage. The USDA inspector said it had to be done, along with the west side. I’ll do that next weekend.

🙂 Our loan is going through. Glad my dad taught me to live within my means so we have good credit.

  12. so, Peter, are you happy with the new home you found? Happy to hear that your finances are in order. I am working at paying off my home, my only debt.

  13. We were debt free before we got more children. Then we decided we were capable of helping more children but could use a larger home and it was worth while to go into debt for them.
