Prayer Requests 2-25-14

Who has a request or praise they’d like to share?

Psalm 32

¹Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long.

For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.

I acknowledge my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.

Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.

I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.

10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the Lord, mercy shall compass him about.

11 Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.

  2. Most of the rain will hit the LA area, they’re expecting more rain than we’ve had in 2 years (which still isn’t all that much!). But a welcome relief. It’s also expected to bring some needed snow to our local mountains.

Now if my roof just doesn’t leak too bad in that one spot … Oy.

  3. I’d like to request prayer for the Allen family. This morning Josh Allen, pastor of a Las Cruces, New Mexico church was killed in an auto accident. He was on his way to pick up his brother at the airport when another car crossed into his lane and hit him head-on. Please keep his wife Shelly, brother Jay, his Dad Dan, and Mom Vonnie in your prayers as they deal with this loss. Thanks all.

  4. Heavenly Father,

The freshness of Spring is in the air today and it isn’t even March yet. Thank You for the promise of newness of life that we see in the seasons that reminds us Your promise of newness of life through Jesus Christ.

I lift up to You for healing mercies, Karen, the woman mentioned by Michelle. You know the location of the clots and just what it will take to dissolve them. I pray You will choose to heal her and bring her closer to You in the process.

I also lift up to You the terrible tragedy mentioned by AJ. It seems such a senseless loss on our side of the viewing lens yet You have Your purposes in allowing things like that to happen. I pray many will recognize how this pastor and friend touched their lives and if any were fence sitting on accepting Jesus as their Savior that they would be led through this tragedy to find their newness of life in Christ for all of eternity. Please bring comfort and peace that passes our imperfect understanding to thr wife and family and all those profoundly touched by this loss of dear life. We trust in Your walking close beside and even filling the brokenhearted with love and the joy that can be known by believers in the midst of sorrow.

Lord, I also pray for the Atlanta family who are grieving over the loss of the beloved dad who was struck and killed by a drunk driver. The teenage sons were openly grieving on tv over his death. Please help them with their sadness.

I lift up Pastor Roy’s need for employment. Soon, please, Lord, soon.

I continue to lift up Israel and Prime Minister Netanyahu for Your blessing as they are constantly having to consider ways to keep their nation, land and people safe from enemy plots to destroy them. Please also keep our land safe from terroristic plots and keep our troops safe wherever they are stationed.

Please bless The Gambia today in the ways You know are most needed. Thank You for missionaries there bringing the love of Christ to the people in deed and word. Strengthen missionaries who are fragile in any wsy. I ask that peace be felt in the presence of the missionaries so people will be attracted to You through them.

Please help my husband and all who are in the midst of tax season. May the preparers all feel good about how they help people especially during this busy time. I pray for all those in our nation who are overly burdened by taxes or any kind of oppressive burdens put on them by IRS. I ask that IRS would not be used by any in government to harrass people based on political motives.

I pray in the name of Jesus. May Your will be done, Amen

  5. An update from Pastor Dan Allen about his son Josh, and the events of this morning. It’s heartbreaking. Dan is one of our church’s missionaries, and just spoke at our church 2 weeks ago.

“It is with a completely broken heart and through tears I report to you that God, in His infinite wisdom, has chosen to take our pastor son, Josh, to be home with Him. Josh was traveling to the El Paso airport from Las Cruces, NM, to pick up his brother when someone got on the interstate going the wrong direction and took Josh’s life. He was only 30. To add insult to injury it is Shelley, his wife’s, birthday today. They have one 9-month old son, Josiah.

Words escape me at times like these. We are claiming Psalm 46:10 as I did when my dad was killed in similar fashion when he was 50 – Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted on the earth.” And I am reminding myself of God’s faithfulness with the slogan I preached numerous times to so many churches: “God is faithful, all the time, every day, in every circumstance, no matter what, God is faithful.” It seems like I need to repeat this over and over. Naturally, we appreciate your prayers during this time.”

  7. Heavenly Father,

Sometimes it seems so difficult to know how to pray over certain situations. We’ve all at times been at a loss to know what to pray because we don’t know the whole situation as You do. I do know that Forrest’s dad is acting like an enemy toward my friend Karen O and her family. I am so tempted to pray against him, that You would somehow hurt him to stop him. Yet I remember how You tell us in Your word to pray for our enemies for their benefit. Since that is so hard for me to do, I ask that the Holy Spirit would groan and make known to You what I should be praying. Please keep Forrest safe. Please help Emily to turn to You in this time of despair. May she recognize the better possibilities with accepting Jesus as her Lord. Please help Karen O and Lee to know Your peace as they fall trusting into Your caring arms. Please give their family a big hug from all the folks here on the blog as they wait. I pray in Jesus’name. Amen

  8. Amen. Thank you, Janice. My prayer has been, along with praying for Forrest’s safety (emotionally as well as physically), for the Holy Spirit to urge Emily to cry out to God in her despair, & find Him waiting there.
