Prayer Requests 2-19-14

Anyone have a request or praise they’d like to share?

And it’s Wednesday, so don’t forget the folks in Gambia. 🙂

Psalm 27

¹The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.

For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.

Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.

When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek.

Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.

11 Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.

12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.

13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

  1. Prayers, please, for Brooke, a young lady of 23 who lost her dad suddenly on Christmas Day. I’ve known her since she was 11, when she was our neighbor and a mommy’s helper to me. Later, she became our favorite babysitter (other than Connie, of course!). She’s grieving and could use some comfort from the Great Healer.

Also, prayers for my sister and her family. They are trying to adopt two orphan boys, one from Rwanda and one from the Congo, whom they’ve fallen in love with. The government makes it extremely difficult for foreigners to adopt, so prayers are greatly needed.

  2. Praying. That’s awfully young to lose a dad. 😦 I lost mine when I was 18.

Also pray for the daughter of a former editor of ours from long ago. Mother and daughter were extremely close ever since the editor/mom was widowed nearly 20 years ago. She died a few weeks ago, the service is this Saturday which many of us will be attending (last time some of us were together was for our former top editor’s memorial about a year ago).

She was in her mid 70s and had been in failing health, yet the end (a stroke) was unexpected as she’d been doing much better after a recent fall. I feel so bad because I owed her an email from Christmas that I never got written or sent (they’d moved to Alaska about a year ago).

I know the daughter’s heart is aching (she’s in her mid-40s, an RN), they were such a “team” and lived together in an apartment up there, really best friends in so many ways — both professing Christians, although they’d never been regular church attenders. Pray that this difficult transition will bring something new for the daughter, including a renewed faith and desire to be closer to God’s people in a good church.

  3. Praises from PNG:
We have completed the visa renewal process in record time! This is the first time in recent history (or ever?) that the process (renewing work permits AND visas) has taken less than 6 months. We must acknowledge that the Lord did this for us and give a big THANK YOU to everyone who prayed.
We are also thankful to the PNG Department of Immigration for their hard work.
