Phos has posted a special prayer request about her health. She is having a hard time breathing, and is coming home. The request may show up in detail here later.
She needs our prayers.
Those of us on Phos Prayer Letter list got this today: Dear Family, Friends and Supporters,
I was hoping to write you a prayer letter this week, but everything has suddenly changed. This past Tuesday, I began to have difficulty breathing, as my asthma flared up after a minor cold. On Wednesday, the decision was made that I should leave this Saturday, rather than waiting until next week; however, by Thursday morning, my condition had deteriorated so much that I was rapidly transported out of the village and taken to a clinic in the capital. There they ruled out any other problems besides the asthma and determined that I could travel home with some assistance. I am now waiting to return home this coming Monday, accompanied by Ruth, the Nurse Practitioner whom I had stayed to help.
I am currently trying to rest in preparation for my journey in our guest house. Unfortunately, between my symptoms and the side effects of the medications, I am having difficulty sleeping or even sitting still. Pray for easing in my breathing and an ability to get the sleep that I so desperately need. Pray that I will have the strength to reach home safely and pray for wisdom and strength for those who are taking care of me. The team here has been wonderfully supportive and are selflessly sacrificing their time, energy and resources to help me.
leaving on a very small plane. It has been raining all night, which is rare here. Not sure what that will do to the flights. In God’s hands, however I get there.
Another medical missionary is excorting her home. It is my understanding that the other lady wasn’t quite due to go home but it won’t be worth the trip back so she is going home early.
I have lived with two asthmatics–Ex-Husband and BG. Both outgrew it, although both occassionally have slight trouble catching their breaths. I can’t imagine what it must be like to be so far away from modern medical help and not be able to breathe.
The other medical missionary taking Phos home is my sister, Ruth, who was planning to stay and have Christmas with me. The clinic is closing for a Christmas break this Thursday anyway, so it was the best thing to just have her go and get Phos home safely.
Ajisuun – It’s good to know Ruth is accompanying Phos, but I do feel sorry she won’t be with you for Christmas. May God bless you with an especially wonderful Christmas day.

And so we will pray that she won’t be scared, but will have the peace of God.

Actually, she was due to head home a couple of months ago but extended so others could go on their home trips.
