Who can we pray for today?
Psalm 147
1 Praise ye the Lord: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.
2 The Lord doth build up Jerusalem: he gathereth together the outcasts of Israel.
3 He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
4 He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.
5 Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.
6 The Lord lifteth up the meek: he casteth the wicked down to the ground.
7 Sing unto the Lord with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God:
8 Who covereth the heaven with clouds, who prepareth rain for the earth, who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains.
9 He giveth to the beast his food, and to the young ravens which cry.
10 He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man.
11 The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.
12 Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem; praise thy God, O Zion.
13 For he hath strengthened the bars of thy gates; he hath blessed thy children within thee.
14 He maketh peace in thy borders, and filleth thee with the finest of the wheat.
15 He sendeth forth his commandment upon earth: his word runneth very swiftly.
16 He giveth snow like wool: he scattereth the hoarfrost like ashes.
17 He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can stand before his cold?
18 He sendeth out his word, and melteth them: he causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow.
19 He sheweth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel.
20 He hath not dealt so with any nation: and as for his judgments, they have not known them. Praise ye the Lord.
Mumsee,
Yesterday I got a refresher course in “never let someone else be your priority while you remain their option”.
This reminded me of someone we know. Perhaps you explain this concept to her?.

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for another day and our chance to see with Your vision and feel with the heart of Jesus. Help us to be aware of the needs around us and make a difference that will bring You glory when opporunities arise. Help us learn to bring peace and calm into situations that could escalate into shouting matches. Help us to bring Christian love into any situations where hate has been the dominate emotion.
Lord, I lift up any on this blog who are feeling disappointment and discouragement over their situations that seem to have no solutions. Help them to focus on You and all the good You offer over what their expectations may have been for their lives. May anything else be counted for loss except for Your exceedingly good gift of Jesus who helps us keep our priorities rightly arranged.
I pray for all those who are traveling and enjoying end of the season vacations. Please bless them with traveling mercies and pleasant weather or at least a comfortable place to enjoy the rains of this season.
Thank You for the massive amount of blessings You are pouring out this day. May we all recognize Your goodness in this world and give thanks and glory to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen

Kim and Janice, both of you made comments here today that really spoke to me when I read them. I’d never heard that saying, “never let someone else be your priority while you remain their option” that you shared, Kim. A fair amount of the stress I’ve been experiencing lately has been because I have indeed been making someone else my priority (that I don’t have to), and not getting back what I feel I’m putting into the relationship. I feel like my speaking into this person’s life is optional to her, and that I’m wasting my time investing in encouraging her when she doesn’t seem to love me back. (I’m not speaking of anyone here, BTW.)
Janice, thank you for lifting up those “who are feeling disappointment and discouragement over their situations that seem to have no solutions.” What I mentioned above is part of the disappointment and discouragement, but that is something I can do something about. However, there are other things I can’t really do much about, and I appreciate your prayer, as it comes at a time I am riding out a rather turbulent time of my life that I’m having a hard time understanding. I guess I’m seeking too hard to understand, when what I should simply be doing is resting in the Lord, and not always be trying to get it all figured out and solved. That’s a frustrating and fruitless venture, and it takes God and His tender mercies and good and perfect gifts out of the picture.
Thank you to all who pray here.

6 Arrows, yesterday I was in a training course and the fantastic speaker said that when you don’t know what to do or you are feeling stress…just breathe. He used the example of the championship NBA game when the guy needed to shoot the basket for the winning shot and what did he do? He took a deep breath, dribbled the ball, took another deep breath and threw it.
Makes some sense if you think about it. When we are under stress we explain it sometimes as feeling like we are suffocating. What should we do? Stop and breathe.

Thanks, Kim. Sounds funny, but I think I do forget to breathe sometimes. 😉 Or breathe deeply enough, anyway. Tensing up and maybe holding my breath more than I’m aware, perhaps. Anyway, your “just breathe” at the end of the first sentence induced a big, deep breath. 🙂
I feel better already!

Sharing praises. Today is the one year birthday of the Jones quints. I taught their older brother and plan on staying here to teach all of them. I check their blog several times a day. Born very early and at low birth weight, now they are all thriving. gavincarrie.blogspot.com
