  1. A couple of weeks back, I ranted about the absence of bees in my areal. Several of you replied about plenty of been around your place.
    Now, another weird thing:
I have three butterfly bushes behind my house. In past years, butterflies loved visiting my bushes.
So far, I have lots of blooms. Not a single butterfly.
Something must be happening in western NC. I haven’t seen anything in the paper about it.

  2. 😦 One of yesterdays comics has a man complaining to his wife about the constant coverage of Snowden.
It is worse about the Travon Martin trial. It’s all Fox News had last night. I turned it off. I’m not only not following it, I’m avoiding it, Nothing good can come of this, especially when the DOJ gets involved. Nobody cares whether this guy is guilty or innocent, they just want to push some agenda.

  3. 😦 Death of my nephew’s father by suicide. Alcohol was a big factor and I see my nephew following (somewhat) in the same direction.

😦 Sudden death of my husband’s cousin’s daughter of a heart attack. She was only 36 and the autopsy said she had already had heart attacks and just not realized it.

    😦 Mumsee’s situation.

Chas: I did read an article on the Monarch Butterfly, recently. Apparently, their numbers are down this year. Higher temps, affecting one of the cycles, were one of the reasons possible. Otherwise, it seems insects, birds etc. seem to go through years of higher or lower populations.

I am praying those jurors make a wise decision. Many people made it a far more difficult situation than it needed to be. Sad, IMO.

  4. I’m with you Chas, what’s the obsession on fox with the Zimmerman case and all the gavel-to-gavel coverage? Oh well, guess it’ll be over soon one way or another.

And I think I have yellow jackets, not bees.

🙂 Saturday and I actually slept for something like 10-11 hours last night. I must have been tired.

😦 The crisis mumsee & family are going through, prayers sister.

🙂 God is faithful. He hangs on to us when we have no strength or trust left to hang on to Him.

  5. 🙂 I slept 10.5 hours last night, too. Astonishing.
😦 I was up a lot the night before praying for the nest.
🙂 Looking at another house in half an hour; we may have two to choose from which is good news.
😦 We will have to decide fast.
    🙂 Adorable grandchildren return tonight.
😦 There goes the peaceful quiet
🙂 Finally writing on my WWI; I like what I have now.
🙂 Have sent my proposal to the world’s authority on Oswald Chambers. We’ll see what he says . . .
    🙂 Lovely weather.
😦 We need some of AJ’s rain.
😦 Lots of heartache and difficult prayer requests.
    🙂 Our God reigns.

  6. 🙂 Victory. At last. I’ve been battling with AT&T intermittently for 2 weeks, by phone, in person, via email. … All trying to claim a $150 “reward” card promised to me when I signed up with them for the tv/internet/land line service.

They’ve given me the basic $150 reward in the form of a pre-loaded Visa debit card; but when I signed up, the guy said I qualified for a second $150 reward — so $300 total — because my cell phone was on AT&T.

I walked into the store (again) today and somehow got a guy who was able to clear everything up quickly and submit the order for the 2nd $150 reward (I had all my original paperwork).

  8. 😦 Hoping & praying upstairs neighbors find something soon, but it’s not looking good at the moment.

🙂 Old, falling-apart vertical blinds down, new, pretty curtains up. (In former living room, now Emily’s room, but will be living room again eventually.)

Still not sure what to do in dining room. Convert to new-but-temporary living room? Keep as dining room, but with entertainment center & TV moved in?

  9. 😦 Our upstairs air-conditioner died today. The temperature is a balmy 88 degrees up there, so we’re all sleeping downstairs. Becca has a friend spending the night, so they will be on blow-up mattresses on the floor of the master, since they go to bed before the rest of us. Eldest will be on the couch. Thank goodness the downstairs one is working correctly!

😦 All that’s going on at the nest

🙂 Both my children had good weeks at camp!

  10. 🙂 We now have two gorgeous houses to get into a bidding war over.
🙂 The one I like has stairs.
😦 The one my husband likes doesn’t have any storage and a beautiful but stupidly arranged kitchen.
🙂 We’re going to fleece it–offer on my favorite on Tuesday and go to his if we don’t get it six days later.
    ? Is this cheating?
    🙂 Adorable grandchildren are back.
🙂 One year-old keeps walking up to me and smiling.
    🙂 Very sweet.

  11. How exciting Michelle! I always look for the practical. But to find two that you are willing to bid on after looking for so long is exciting. God is good.

  13. Rollkuchen, thinly rolled sour cream, and egg based dough cut into 2X4″ (or so) rectangles with a slit in the centre, deep fried to a golden brown and simply eaten warm with watermelon – and that’s your whole meal… so good. It’s a Mennonite thing 🙂 One sits at the table with a slice of watermelon in one hand and a rollkuchen in the other, eating away.

  14. Very interesting, kare. I have a friend who makes similar deep-fried sweets for Christmas. I had never heard of the watermelon tradition. Sounds great for a perfect light meal.
