Prayer Requests 6-18-13

Who can we pray for today?

Psalm 104:1-7

1 Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.

Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:

Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:

Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:

Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.

Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains.

At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away.

  1. It is with great sadness I report the death of two dear friends and their Ugandan driver/pastor. After three weeks of mission work in Uganda and due to return to the US in two days, they were in a head-on collision while driving back to Kampala.. One of them was one of the most knowledgeable and able teachers of the Word I have ever known. He leaves behind his wife and four grown sons here in Georgia. The other was a well known local musician and sound man. He also leaves behind a wife and their two grown children. The driver was a trusted pastor there in Uganda and leaves behind his wife and children, and most probably did not have any insurance.

This is a huge loss that has left us all shocked and saddened. Please pray for the families of these dear men who gave their all in the service of our Lord.

  2. Oh, Make It Man, what a huge loss!

My sister is continuing to experience hard things; last night she called after her middle child (a nine-year-old boy) suffered a concussion. It turned out, apparently, not to be a concussion, but heat exhaustion. A nurse friend came to the house, and she said they share many of the same symptoms, but apparently he had heat exhaustion and possibly a mild concussion. My sister was quite panicky when she first called. (For those who haven’t been on here much lately, this sister lost her husband to a heart attack June 1, 46 with no hint of heart problems, leaving behind five children ages 5-14. My husband and I went down there for two weeks and just came back Saturday.)

  3. Things like this always put me in mind of the song, “Farther Along”. So hard to understand now. All the more reason for our prayers for one another and to continue in the word, so that we may stand firm.
