Prayer Requests 5-2-13

Who can we pray for today?

Psalm 24

1 The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

2 For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.

3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place?

4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

5 He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

6 This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.

7 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

8 Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.

9 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

10 Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.

  1. Again, prayer for wisdom on this coming weekend. The six year old still has a sore throat, an eleven year old does, I have something….to go or not to go…

  2. My grumpy, ungrateful, everything’s-going-you-know-where-in-a-hand-basket attitude. 😦 It’s SO not pleasing to God. Not to mention everyone around me.

Even I don’t like me when I’m like this!

  3. I know! Talk about getting up on the wrong side of the bed! I’m waiting for my item to come up on the port meeting (watching via livestream in the newsroom, listening to a trade tariff debate in the meantime). But I am feeling better, a bit more positive and grateful for all the gifts He’s given me. Including this job and a means to make a living and provide a service to others.

    Honestly.

  4. Plus I listened to Allistair sp? Begg on my drive to work today — he was talking about how our limitations & weaknesses & life’s challenges are good things, they are the means by which we recognize our need to depend (again and more fully) on God and on his strength.

I knew and know that. You knew and know that.

But it was a particularly good message for me to hear this morning.

  5. Heavenly Father,

I lift up our nation, the United States of America, to You today on this National Day of Prayer. Many are praying and You hear. We know how there are enemies among us in the USA who do not count You to be God. We recognize their folly as they try to put You down and either lift themselves or some false god above You. I ask that You would forgive them for their ignorance and arrogance. Please make a way for them to know You for all You are. I thank You for the forgiveness You offer to each sinner in our land. Help us to grasp our need for forgiveness and help us to fully repent.

Lord, there are brothers and sisters in Christ here today who are having major need for prayer. Mumsee has sickness in her family and needs to make decisions regarding activities the family is up for. Give her wisdom about what she should do. Please make it clear if they will be well enough to go forward with plans or if they should cancel.

I pray for Donna to know Your love in such a way that it overides the ugliness she feels on the workfront. Calm her stirred up spirit as You calmed the storm. You are in possession of the peace that passes understanding and she is in need of that this afternoon. Help! We cry out to You to pour down Your peace upon her and her office. I pray for a fresh breeze of commonality to blow through the office so that there will be at least one thing everyone can agree on and thus a beginning point for new acceptance of each other as values human beings with hearts. I pray for the whole news industry that it will be getting straight on priorities and becoming less slanted and more worthy of worth the price of subscriptions. May the management see that no one wants to pay for a news source that does not deliver. Please help and encourage all those like Donna who stick to truth and accuracy in reporting. Make Your rewards known to them.

Thank You for Your healing of those young people who have been afflicted with mono. They need Your encouragement because that illness can make people feel down and depressed as it causes them to not feel like engaging in the usual activities that bring them joy. Bless them with a quick bounce back.

Please make a way of comfort for Michelle’s family that is experiencing the tragedy of losing their beloved pet, Suzie, to cancer. I pray You will reveal to them why this quick death has occurred. Help them to not agonize over not doing something sooner to help since they were unaware. You have Your reasons for keeping them unaware. Perhaps You have saved them from additional suffering by not have to watch a slow and painful demise. We trust in You and Your provision . Thank You for the liklihood that Suzie will be seen at a future time in heaven by the family members.

I pray for those who will be attending graduation ceremonies this weekend. Please give everyone traveling mercies. I pray for safety and no more terrorism attacks. We put our worries into Your hands and trust in Your goodness to overcome evil.

Again, I ask that You would bless the USA today and in the future with revival and restoration and a true turning of hearts, minds, and souls to Jesus. May He forever be honored in our nation as Lord and Savior and as the Way You, Father God, made for us to approach You. In His Name, Amen

  6. We were blessed to attend our National Day of Prayer doings today. We always meet outdoors in front of our courthouse. It is almost always cold, raining, or lightly snowing and windy. Today was no exception. I had on a corduroy shirt, sweatshirt and winter jacket and still was cold. I am sure the cold kept some away. I couldn’t help but think of those in some countries who suffer so much worse to worship together or study the bible. I don’t fault anyone who didn’t come, however. God knows our hearts and hears our prayers wherever they come from.

Donna, I know we know. I just could not help having a few different psalms come to mind with similar complaints to yours. I am grateful that the complaints and grief of others are clearly shared in the bible, so we know how human God’s people were and are.

  8. Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the blessings of this day and evening. I know many prayers went up to You today. I know You will be acting immediately on some, working behind the scenes on others and making plans for something even better than was asked for by some. You are awesome in Your goodness and the grace You give us day by day.

This evening I pray for AJ as he anticipates his long trip when he is suffering the pain in his right hip and knee. I pray for an easing off of the pain for this trip. Help him to know what to do so he can find the right positioning of his leg so the stress on his joints and ligaments won’t be so great. I remember, Lord, when I was anticipating similar pain for a shorter trip and how You brought it to my mind to rest a warm cup of coffee against the painful point on my leg/knee and it helped so much. Please help AJ to have some insight into how to endure the trip. I pray for any swelling to dissipate and for inflamation to disperse. Please wash away any accumulation of irritants from his cellular composition. You made him, Lord, and You know just what to do to make him not only feel better for tomorrow but to also give him relief from these symptoms permanently. We did study in the Bible this week about how sometimes You give miraculous provisions in some cases and in other cases You go through something with the person. You are constantly helping believers through their struggle. So please help AJ through this struggle if You don’t decide to do a healing miracle. He needs You to give him peace as he honors his commitment to his family. Bless AJ as only You can. I ask in the most powerful name of Jesus, May Jesus be glorified through Your actions to benefit AJ in the way of Your choosing. Amen
