Prayer Requests 2-5-13

Who can we pray for today?

Or share a praise if you prefer.

Psalm 40:1-5

1 I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

4 Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

5 Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

  1. Let’s all remember to pray for Michelle’s daughter today. She has a concussion and exams. Last night Mama Bear was asking for prayers on FB.

The young man I know who is at St Jude, received a bone marrow transplant from his sister. He now has RSV and has been moved to isolation.

I am selfishly asking for prayers for me. We are moving into our high season and now is the time for me to “make hay while the sun is shining”. There is also something else rattling around in my head. There is something I want to do for my church and I sorta, almost, but not quite have told God that I will give him 25% of my commissions in April. There, now I have said it to all of you. I just have to do it.

  2. Pray for stability at my work. There are some high-level, closed-door talks going on. None of us, of course, knows what’s up. It just appears that there is some sort of crisis, most likely financial.

I suppose we’ll be let in on it at some point. Speculation runs the gamut from the papers being sold (not necessarily a bad thing) to a move to cut back our print edition schedule (from 7 to fewer days in the week). Or?

  3. Prayers for Michelle’s daughter, David and Donna this morning.

Please keep my husband in your prayers this morning. He is driving to Edmonton (5 hour drive) for work and the roads are terrible. 6 inches of snow yesterday and the road report says the highway is like a curling rink – bumpy ice for a good chunk of the way.

  4. Today we learned that Kane, our American Bulldog, has osteo-sarcoma – bone cancer. He has maybe a year left, although from what Emily has read, it may be less than that, maybe only a couple months. 😦

We’ve been given pain-killers for him, & we plan to keep him as comfortable as possible for as long as possible. He’s such a sweetheart of a dog.

Please pray that as we go through this process with him, & as Emily tries to figure out how to explain Kane’s eventually absence to Forrest, that God will draw her thoughts & heart heavenward, to Him.

  5. Thanks for your prayers. She’s got a concussion and a bruise on her orbital socket but NOT a detached retina. But it’s midterms and she’s having trouble concentrating. 😦 Slept well last night with Tylenol PM, but her head split open when she got up this morning. “I’m fine, now, mom,” she said. “It doesn’t hurt.”

    Hmmmmmmm.

In the meantime, her roommate tore her ACL and fractured her knee cap yesterday while the other two roommates have a migraine and the flu.

As it happens, I’m going to be in LA the next five days and have time to drive up to Santa Barbara on Thursday. It will be good to get a look at her–I’m not sure how badly she’s hurt. Sounds bad to me, but she’s making light of it. And hasn’t even bothered to get her prescription filled for some eye meds. 😦

I said I’d come up and mother everyone. She said that sounded like a great idea.

Wisdom in mothering adult children, sigh, is very necessary at all times! Thanks.

  6. Michelle – I hope she knows how serious a concussion can be.

Have had 2 friends in the last few months whose sons had serious concussions. Not only were they told to stay home from school for at least a couple weeks, they weren’t even allowed to read or watch TV for a while, due to the stimulation of the brain doing so would cause.

Hope your daughter’s concussion is much less serious, & won’t interfere with her studies. May God heal her quickly & thoroughly.
