Prayer Requests 12-21-12

Who can we pray for today?

Many churches will spend time this Christmas helping others. Let’s all take some time today to pray for these ministries.

Thanks!

Mathew 1:18-25 KJV

18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.

20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.

22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:

25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus.

  1. Update from Jerry Jenkins/Christian Writers Guild:

Continue to Pray for Danny Lotz

I am happy to share this update I received from Anne:

“For He has not despised or disdained the suffering of the afflicted one; He has not hidden His face from him but has listened to his cry for help.” Psalm 22:24

We seem to be winning the battle of our lives that we have been waging against MRSA! For three days Danny’s blood cultures have not shown any signs of the killer infection! He was able to have a permanent catheter inserted in his chest this morning for dialysis. His wound from where his infected fistula was removed is healing at supernatural speed, and the doctor believes he may be off the wound vac in seven days!

We are all confident that Danny has come through this nightmare because you have prayed . . . and God has answered. Our hearts are filled with gratitude to the literally thousands of people around the world who have interceded on his behalf.

    Please continue to pray:

For all infections to be overcome. Danny’s white blood cell count is slightly elevated.
For complete healing of his wound without complications or setbacks.
For restoration of physical strength after almost two weeks in a hospital bed.
For God’s perfect timing of release from the hospital. No date has been set.
For God’s wisdom for the next step, either home or rehab.
For Danny’s peace as he anticipates a transition.
For our family as we look forward to a different kind of Christmas celebration.
The following poem is one my Mother had written in the fly leaf of my Bible when I was a girl. I had remembered two verses that I had shared with you in my first email. But I had not remembered the second verse, which seems very appropriate today:

Trust Him, He is ever faithful.

Trust Him for His will is best.

Trust Him for the heart of Jesus

Is the only place to rest.

  2. Prayer request for my dad, who went to the doctor today because of back pain he’s been having (probably due to arthritis). His pain isn’t severe, but at the appointment, my dad had a very irregular heartbeat. He’s been admitted to the hospital, where they placed an IV so they could get medication into him quickly if his heartbeat became more erratic.

Dad turned 83 two days ago, and when I had called him to wish him a happy birthday, he talked about how blessed he was that he’s been mostly quite healthy his whole life, and that he’d never been overnight in a hospital except when he was born!

When you pray for him, also remember to praise God for the gifts of love and good humor in our family. When my mom was leaving the hospital tonight, my dad told her “You’re the best wife in the world.” Mom told that to my brother when she got home, and my brother responded, “He must have been delusional.” 😀

My brother and sister-in-law are going Christmas shopping tonight, and planned to visit Dad, so they asked Mom what room he was in. Mom told them, and my brother said, “Well, if there’s a crabby woman in the room, we’ll know we have the wrong room.” To which Mom responded, “The crabby woman went home.” 😀

    Thanks for your prayers, friends.
