Prayer Requests 12-1-12

What should we pray about today?

Psalm 119:89-96

89 Your word, Lord, is eternal;
    it stands firm in the heavens.
90 Your faithfulness continues through all generations;
    you established the earth, and it endures.
91 Your laws endure to this day,
    for all things serve you.
92 If your law had not been my delight,
    I would have perished in my affliction.
93 I will never forget your precepts,
    for by them you have preserved my life.
94 Save me, for I am yours;
    I have sought out your precepts.
95 The wicked are waiting to destroy me,
    but I will ponder your statutes.
96 To all perfection I see a limit,
    but your commands are boundless.

  1. Each of our older children has had opportunity to work for others to make money. We do not pay them for jobs around here or give them allowances. Anyway, I hired a tutor to help with three of the children (I have often mentioned that I am not a teacher). At the beginning, I told a fourteen year old that he would either do the work assigned or he would pay the tutor. Initially, he worked very well, then he got annoyed with her and started slacking until now he does nothing. Not really a problem as we have learned it often takes up to two years to get over the damage enough to focus on education. Anyway, the bill is due and he will be learning that he now owes her one hundred twenty dollars, pretty well depletes his savings. (their money is kept in an account for them, long and short term savings and spending). He will not have anything for buying presents.

    Pray that our talk with him will go well and he will be receptive in a positive way. Prior to coming here, he had anger issues. We try to give him opportunity to learn to control it and this well could be one of those moments.

  2. Heavenly Father,

    Thank You for the loving discipline within Mumsee’s home. You, Abba, discipline us because You love us. You have set the standard, and Your servants, Mumsee and her husband, are following Your lead. I ask that You would please give them an extra dose of wisdom as they have the planned discussion with this young man. Help him to be motivated to act in a respectful way with understanding that he is learning that his actions have consequences for which he is fully responsible. Help him to take to heart the lesson learned about good behavior generating positive results. May the overall lesson learned be that he is greatly loved by his earthly guardians and also by You. May he be turned into a good example of the changes young people can make in their lives to become productive, useful and caring citizens. I pray any unworthiness he may feel because of his past will be washed away as he recognizes Your great love that will be with him forever. May he desire to do his best to please You in all his ways. I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen

  3. The baby of the mother I asked for prayer for has died. I have no idea if the baby was aborted or if it were an a natural miscarriage. I suspect the former. At any rate, the mother needs prayer. Ashley was her name.

    I have a young friend who needs prayer, too. Nick is his name and I have put his name in for prayer, too. He has had a lot of trauma in his life and is very angry and rebellious to the point of ruining his health with bad choices. He recently left the hospital without the doctor’s consent. He has diabetes among other problems. He had a Youth for Christ minister for a roomate for a bit. This minister is from Nick’s hometown, which is not the town in which either of them were hospitalized. He can use some prayer as he tries to build a relationship with Nick, too. Please pray that the evil one is thwarted in his attempts of keeping Nick from seeing God’s desire for his life.
