Glad to see you so early, Dj. Every minute that goes by, your knee is healing and getting better! God is so wonderful that He made ways for bodies to be healed.
Are you listening to music, Dj, or watching movies, or reading anything special during your at home time, Dj?
Dj, do your meds make you have more dreams? I was caught up in a dream this morning so it was difficult to awaken even with Miss Bosley trying her best with her picking at me with her claws trick. Finally Art said, “It’s time.” That’s the cue to make eggs♡ I got up for him but not Miss B. Still I was groggy.
In my dream, in the last part, I was driving on crazy twisty mountain roads that were on the edge, and I was thinking that I shouldn’t be doing that with my poor eyesight, but I was enjoying it so much that I kept going. I think I was in the car to test it and was suppose to go a short distance and turn around, but there was no place to turn around on this road. A sweet God given adventure♡
Is that a Golden Eagle up there soaring through the blue skies? Beautiful!
Janice there must be meaning in that dream! Living on the edge but trusting the Lord through it all…and never turning back!
The pollens or something out there are making this old lady’s eyes itchy and nose sneezy. I was groggy this morning as I let the dogs out. Pip wanted to chase the ball so I had my coffee in one hand and the chuck it in the other. I went to snap the ball and the entire chuck it went flying out of my hand. Pip looked at me as though I was a crazy lady….she wasn’t far off in her observation!
Thanks, Nancyjill, for that dream interpretation. Certainly sounds logical😀
Two or three things that are helping me with allergies are chamomile tea, rosehips tea, and a little aloe juice in water each day. I know chamomile is considered in the ragweed family, but I am thinking it must work somehow like allegy shots that introduce small amounts that build up tolerance. But because of individual tolerances, I know it is not the same for everyone.
The weather guy said this morning that we had our summer in June when it stayed above 95 for two weeks straight. For the next week and a half we are in unstable weather conditions with rain predicted each day. Wish I could funnel some to those in drought like Kizzie.
Good Mornig Everyone. Yesterday we took Little Miss to her Daddy. Mommy had homework to do and Daddy was at a friend’s house working on his “fast car” as LM calls it.
At the P’cola house the roof is on and shingled. The siding is up and the drywall is in the house “curing” before it is put up. The tub is in the guest bathroom and you can tell where everything will be. I am a little sick this morning. It’s tiny. I have stuff I am willing to get rid of but Mr. Packrat is not. Very little of what we have is going to fit with out it being crammed full. He is talking about one bedroom being my office AND LM’s playroom. THAT is not going to work. I am trying to have a “Fierce Conversation” with myself but it is hard.
I will head over in a bit to help my daughter move across the street. I really can’t lift too much, so I am not rushing. Plus she told me that my ex and his wife would be there. I am sure that I can find something to do.
Daughter is doing well at the hotel, from all appearances. She goes walking and visits friends all over town. Everybody knows her. Her first day, a friend texted me to let me know daughter had said her shower did not work. So, that night when we brought her her meds, I asked her to show me and she turned it on with no challenge. (When we first got her, I had to draw an on and off arrow on the tub side with permanent marker so she could remember how to run it) Yesterday, when we stopped by with evening meds and birthday cake, she turned twenty one yesterday, she mentioned her toilet was not working. I told her she needed to contact the person in charge there. This morning she said it started working on its own.
Yes. We will have to buy a shed once we are in for all the other “stuff” like a dog carrier for his mother’s cocker spaniel who died sometime while he was in Cuba.
A porch swing, yes, for you and Little Miss — and for you and Mr. P. And just for you when you want to read a spell. (Did that make me sound “southern”?)
Helicopter neighbors are spoiling me — had me over for egg-cheese-bacon sandwich on an English muffin, cantaloupe, strawberries, coffee and OJ. And stories (again but with more detail) about how they met when he was in the Marines and wound up heading off to Vietnam (she was just 16).
Came home from the moving as I am ready for a nap. Very nice neighbors are doing so much. Turns out that they are 80 and have a whole lot more energy than me.
Husband just called. His friend dropped out of the race. He is bringing not one but two friends home tonight. One will leave Monday afternoon the other Wed afternoon. I will be heading into town for more wine and I’m not sharing!
I think I’d be buying a bottle of wine, too, if Art brought two friends home like that, Nancyjill, and I don’t drink.
My brother kindly helped me get some light in my kitchen. The over the sink florescent had bufned out along with another overhead light. It was terribly dark for one who can’t see well and has to cook so much. I had been unsucessful in getting the one installed and am not tall enough for the other. Art has mobility problems so I did not want to ask him. And of course, Miss Bosley would like to help but she has gotten too clumsy to get up so high. She has to claw her way up on the high bed these days instead of jumping up.
Is Kizzie okay? I have not seen her much here lately. Kizxie? I hope the new refridgerator works great and things are well with Nightingale, Chickadee, and the Boy.🙏
My husband has done that and my initial reaction used to be: what? And then I realized it was okay, they were not home inspectors and if they were, it was their problem, not mine.
oh, having some light is so nice. In ukarumpa I asked for a light to put up over my sink. Turns out the fellow in charge had had children in my class and his wife said he went home and asked her where they had put the ikea light that they hadn’t used. It was wonderful as it had three separate bulbs that could be pointed different directions. Nice and bright.
OKAY, I finally got my online social security account set up. However it does not tell me if I have successfully enrolled in medicare.
One thing at a time.
Shuffled through the house again, recharging the phone & iPad.
There’s something on the front porch in a “pharma-pack” box, no idea what it is, to tired or feeble to drag it in. I’ll have to check Amazon to see if something was coming, I don’t remember that I had anything outstanding from knee-related stuff I’d ordered.
Story about our former senior editor who moved to Tennessee — and “the south” — to take the helm of the Tennessean. and what that transition is like for Californians.
Our Buddy went home yesterday. His owners got back from visiting the new grandbaby. Jake was sorry to see him go but it did not really change her life much. She shared her pen with him, probably ate a good portion of his food, but had to give up her bed under the doghouse. It is where she sleeps during the summer.
We had bluegrass musicians today with banjo, bass, and fiddle for worship music this morning. It was very good. We had a fill in pastor who was in the past a member of my church. The series of messages is entitled ‘Helpful’ and this sermon was actually about depression and how it afflicted people in the Bible as well as people today and ways toward remedy and compassion for those who suffer. It was good but not what I was expecting.
Busy day. Up early, church, lunch, then weeded the front flower beds in this heat.
The funniest part of the sermon was it was done by our young deacon who is getting ready for the priesthood.
He started out with being from the south and having a southern accent. Then he went on to being Asian with a southern accent. Especially around other Asians. He said when someone asked where you are from it is two questions. Where are you from and where are You FROM. He was in a Chinese restaurant / grocery store and the woman asked him the question. He told her he was Korean. Again she asked her he was from. He told her a city in Alabama. She responded, “Oh. You WHITE”.
Context matters and everyone laughed. Yep. We’re all white except for the other young priest. He is part Asian but I don’t know where he is FROM except he came
Out of a Mega Church where he felt the call to ministry but said he lacked the charisma to be a minister there so he found the Anglican Church. Both of them are nice young men and I know our older full time, close to retirement priests have always wanted more diversity in our church.
Janice – Thank you for asking. After the visit with Chickadee on Tuesday, I sunk into some depression and discouragement.
Although it was wonderful to see Chickadee, I felt uncomfortable at times during the day, and ended up feeling very depressed, which lasted into the next day (and somewhat the day after that, too). I didn’t even bother commenting about it on the blog because I was so down.
There were a couple conversations during the day that I didn’t feel a part of because of the topics. (My sadness was about more than that, though. Just not going into details.)
The day brought home to me even more that “my Chickadee” is not “my Chickadee” anymore. We were once so close, and now have so little in common to talk about. And as close as Nightingale and I can be, there is a gulf between us, too. It was almost like I was not quite a part of my own family.
And that’s what I was feeling as the visit ended – that there is a gulf between my daughters, grandson, and myself. It’s not always obvious, but when it is (to me, at least), it is painful.
So I was very depressed and in tears that night and the next morning. I felt low and even a little sick for much of the next day. But of course I was also praying about all of that on and off throughout the day, and for DJ as well. (That was the day of her surgery.) I have pretty much bounced back to whatever normal is for me since then.
This morning, standing at the sidelight window of the front door waiting for Cindy to pick me up for church, I noticed my neighbors’ two little dogs romping about in other yards. My neighbors often have the dogs out off-leash when they are out with them, but the dogs were further up the lane in the other direction from where I usually see them. Looking to see if the neighbors were outside, I found that they were not.
So I went over and rang the doorbell. Denise answered and I asked if she knew that the dogs were out. No, she did not. Somehow the little buggers had escaped. But they were good, and came running when she called them. Well, one took his own sweet time, but did come back.
Thankful to hear from you, Kizzie. I think my other K friend has similar feelings of being so left out of her daughter’s life. I grieve for your and her sense of loss in that regard. I think it is a big part of our culture that the younger generation wants so little to do with the older generation in some cases. And when there is a question of acceptance of alternative lifestyles whether it is an issue or not, I think people in those lifestyles are influenced to believe that their must be underlying lack of acceptance based on what they hear from others in their grouping. This, too, is all part of living in this fallen world full of traps set by the evil one for believers and unbelievers to fall into. He wants people to believe lies, that is his only hope for success. Just keep showing love in God’s power when you are weak, let it be stronger than hurt, and in God’s timing and way the truth will be seen. I fully believe you will at some point be appreciated again. I did not have the appreciation of my own mother until I got older. I do feel hopeful for you. It is painful, but God is there to help comfort.
Well, Kizzie, you just summed up how I am feeling. And Mumsee, thanks for your response. The littles are so into watching videos on their devices that they don’t even notice that I am there. The other mother in law cannot stop working or picking up. She has some work at home she needs to do so hopefully she will go this week. She has been here a long time. And we are so opposite. She cannot even sit down.
In our experience, the children seem to need to venture out on their own. Some for a few months while others take many years to feel comfortable enough to rebuild relationships. Some may never do so. We have them for maybe eighteen years but then they will do what is right in their own eyes. We can pray for them, we can reach out, but they get to decide.
That is actually what I am trying to teach twenty one these days. We have another talk coming up in a couple of hours. She called a few minutes ago because somebody who has been active in her life but a bit too domineering for daughter’s comfort, wanted to give her a birthday party but daughter did not want to attend. She thinks they have spent too much time together again and the woman is trying to run her life again. Anyway, she did not go so the lady evidently sent a friend to basically force daughter into the car and take her to the party. Daughter is now angry and walked away from the party. I told her to go swing for a couple hours and we will go talk with her. Prayer appreciated.
It is difficult growing up and getting to the point you can realize parents are people too.
Interesting article about your former editor, Dj, and that transition. My daughter’s neighborhood has had many people from California move in. There is a lot of talk about people who move in and then try to change TN to be like where they came from. That doesn’t go over well, of course.
I wonder how Mary felt about the division with her children. It seems Jesus’ siblings did not accept what he was doing until after his death. That must have been difficult for Mary, who would have loved all her children.
Our children and grandchildren certainly have a hold on our hearts. We are told we may have to leave our children for the Lord. Or leave parents for the Lord. It hurts to have that division, though. None of us know if or when a grown child may come to the Lord. We can only pray and trust God. Our prayers are with you.
First? That’s a first-first for me. Chalk it up to wacky recovery time where you’re up at 4 a.m. (now it’s 5 a.m.), sitting in a dark house.

Janice, not yet, my concentration levels aren’t very keen right now. 🙂 I sit. And I sleep.
But I do have some reading plans awaiting for me once I’m a little more coherent.
And a quiet pre-dawn house is kind of nice, just sitting in the dark.
