Prayer Requests 5-5-22

It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Psalm 94

The Lord is a God who avenges.
    O God who avenges, shine forth.
Rise up, Judge of the earth;
    pay back to the proud what they deserve.
How long, Lord, will the wicked,
    how long will the wicked be jubilant?

They pour out arrogant words;
    all the evildoers are full of boasting.
They crush your people, Lord;
    they oppress your inheritance.
They slay the widow and the foreigner;
    they murder the fatherless.
They say, “The Lord does not see;
    the God of Jacob takes no notice.”

Take notice, you senseless ones among the people;
    you fools, when will you become wise?
Does he who fashioned the ear not hear?
    Does he who formed the eye not see?
10 Does he who disciplines nations not punish?
    Does he who teaches mankind lack knowledge?
11 The Lord knows all human plans;
    he knows that they are futile.

12 Blessed is the one you discipline, Lord,
    the one you teach from your law;
13 you grant them relief from days of trouble,
    till a pit is dug for the wicked.
14 For the Lord will not reject his people;
    he will never forsake his inheritance.
15 Judgment will again be founded on righteousness,
    and all the upright in heart will follow it.

16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked?
    Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?
17 Unless the Lord had given me help,
    I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.
18 When I said, “My foot is slipping,”
    your unfailing love, Lord, supported me.
19 When anxiety was great within me,
    your consolation brought me joy.

20 Can a corrupt throne be allied with you—
    a throne that brings on misery by its decrees?
21 The wicked band together against the righteous
    and condemn the innocent to death.
22 But the Lord has become my fortress,
    and my God the rock in whom I take refuge.
23 He will repay them for their sins
    and destroy them for their wickedness;
    the Lord our God will destroy them.

  1. Praying for Paul and NancyJill this morning.

    Asking God to give them peace of mind, healing, and the ability to feel His presence. He knows, He hears your petitions, and those on your behalf. Rest easy sister. 🙂

  3. You may (or may not) remember that I used to sometimes bring up my friend Renee-in-Minnesota for prayer. We had become friends by “meeting” on a mutual friend’s Facebook posts, and then moving on to frequent emails. Then, about a couple years ago or so, she just kind of disappeared from being online.

    Well, two days ago she popped back up again, sending me a Facebook message to let me know that she has been having a hard struggle with depression. (She has battled depression for years, and been on many different anti-depressants, none of which seem to work well enough for her.) She said that she is making an effort to get out of bed each day and move around more.

    One of the things that exacerbates her depression is that she was abused – both physically and emotionally – by her mother. Even after growing up and getting out of her parents’ house, her mother continued – up until her recent death at 94 – to be verbally/emotionally cruel to Renee. The pain goes very deep.

    Renee is Catholic, but has looked to me for Christian encouragement, which I do my best to give. Please pray that if she is not truly saved (I think she is, but could be mistaken) that God would save her, and that the Holy Spirit would minister comfort and healing to her. And anything else you might think of. Thank you.

  4. I’ve been going back and forth on a major issue and just can’t decide. I’ve been discouraged and uncertain.

    I wrote a very hesitant email to someone who could help me on Monday and sent it off.

    Monday night, three people who don’t know me at all confirmed encouragement from God.

    Just now, talking with my husband, I went through all of this with him again.

    I told him about the confirmations and the email I’m waiting on and so unsure about.

    He encouraged me forward, “God is pointing you. Let’s leave it to hear.”

    I just opened my email. She answered.

    Her opening line, “I thought I had sent this before . . . ”

    Confirmed.

    Sobbing.

  5. Praying for you and your hubby, NancyJill; for you and Cheryl, AJ; for Renee, Kizzie; for you, M; and for the National Day of Prayer.

    I’m recovered from covid and am back to homeschooling and teaching piano. Something “clicked” in me, though, post-covid, and I’m struggling to find joy in the day-to-day. I’m not sure what to ask you to pray for. Maybe regaining those five pounds or so that I lost in the early covid days when I had low appetite (that’s probably a significant factor behind my low energy/mood)?

    I don’t really know why I’m so down, though, especially about piano teaching. I’ve received many lovely messages from clients lately, and just the sweetest note/hand-drawn picture from one of my 4-year-olds, but I so soon sink back into the mire.

    There is one family that has caused me some angst the last couple months, and I finally cut loose the manipulative child from my schedule this week. It remains to be seen whether that student’s sibling will show up today. Parent has been uncommunicative, which is ironic, given they quit the previous teacher because of that teacher’s alleged non-communicative nature with them.

    Pray as the the Lord leads. Thank you.

  6. Praying Kizzie and 6…and thanking our Lord for His kind answer in just the right moment for you M..
    As I ponder situations we all face day in and day out I find myself in awe of His gentle Hand upon us. He knows when we experience apprehension, anxious thoughts, lost moments and uncertainty. And He walks those moments with us. Grow our roots deeper still Lord in the depth of your loving kindness and mercy. Shelter us from harm and give to us the words when words fail us….for His glory and honor always and forevermore….

  7. Please continue to cover my friends, D & I, in prayer. Thank you.

    I am so thankful to be able to pray for you all and that you pray for me and my prayer requests. This blog family is one of the first places I go when specific prayer is needed.

  8. 6 Arrows – Could it be that although your body feels better, you are still mentally and emotionally worn down? I have experienced that after certain tough illnesses. Try to be patient with yourself. (I don’t know about you, but I think I find it harder to be patient with myself than with others.) Praying for your mind and emotions to catch up with the rest of you. 🙂

  9. I read an article recently on how we’ve lost the art of ‘convalescence’ in our modern, busy era — the practice of taking time to get over illnesses. It’s something of a luxury most of us can’t afford, I suppose, but it was interesting to see how, in the past, folks took time to truly rest and recover.

    ~ Doctors used to swear by the slow recovery period known as convalescence. Some experts say embracing it again could offer benefits for an array of long-term illnesses and injuries. ~

  10. I think there is a psychological element to Covid that people don’t think of as equal to the physical. It takes more time for people to fully recover from all aspects of Covid. Just from the
    vaccine it took six months for my aversion to coffee to wear off.

    Lord, please raise the spirit of 6 arrows to the level she operated from before especially regarding her music. Please let her realize anew her love of teaching and how what she imparts to students can influence generations yet to be born. Thank You for the great gift of skill and talent You placed within her for Your glory. If evil Covid is trying to steal her joy, I pray You will squash Covid residue and bring back her joy overflowing. In Jesus’ name, Amen

  11. Speaking of taking your time to recover, ID cowgirl can hear a tiny bit out of her ear, but the hematoma is taking its time going down. She’s been hearing crackling in her spine, which doc thinks are the pieces of broken vertebrae moving around.

    Grandmother is concerned the girl is not resting her brain as well as she should. She attended a rodeo last weekend . . . . as a spectator.

    Please continue to pray for wisdom about her healing. Thanks.

  12. I am working on my next letter to the editor. Planning to start with Idaho state law covering cruelty to animals and end with what is done to babies. An abomination. Wisdom and words and timing as there is, no doubt, somebody who needs to hear the message.

  13. Please pray for Kathy from my former church. She has to have her leg amputated above the knee tomorrow. It has been recommended to do this (at least her foot) for years now so not a surprise, but still . . .

  14. Thank you for praying. An interesting twist with the piano family I mentioned above — too much backstory, so I’ll skip details — but things went better today with them than they have in a while.

    That article looked good, DJ, but I could only read a little before it told me I had to enter an email address to continue. Sorry, but no thanks, National Geographic.

    I would have loved to have taken more time off after covid than I did, but I already have an extra 30-something piano lessons to make up from the time I did take off, which means that the week leading up to my daughter’s wedding, which I’d planned as a staycation, is now fully booked with make-up lessons except for the night before the wedding. 😦

    If I had taken an extra week of “sick leave,” then it would be more than 60 lessons to make up, or financial credits to issue and a budget to temporarily refigure. Getting sick while self-employed is a nightmare. Easier to just teach once the illness is past (and I actually waited about two extra days past that to give my body even more time to bounce back).

    Kizzie, your comment at 5:29 reminded me that it always took me a few weeks after the morning sickness months were done to get over the first trimester sluggishness. I was pregnant in my 20s, 30s, and 40s, and if that lingering malaise was happening at those young ages, I probably shouldn’t be surprised that a mild-to-moderate case of covid at almost 60 would knock me down for a time afterwards, also.

    The good news tonight is that there were more sweet gifts from God in the form of my students. One girl brought me a gift — a Lego grand piano she’d made for me. Such a sweetie.

    And another student had been at some music event recently. He told me tonight, “I heard some people there talking about you, and they said, ‘She’s really nice.'”

    I told him that was kind of him to share that with me. I’ve been feeling impatient with my students’ musical mistakes lately, so it was a good reminder to rise above the impulse to exhibit impatience and to, rather, be nice to those dear students God has provided.
