Prayer Requests 4-21-22

It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Psalm 81

Sing for joy to God our strength;
    shout aloud to the God of Jacob!
Begin the music, strike the timbrel,
    play the melodious harp and lyre.

Sound the ram’s horn at the New Moon,
    and when the moon is full, on the day of our festival;
this is a decree for Israel,
    an ordinance of the God of Jacob.
When God went out against Egypt,
    he established it as a statute for Joseph.

   I heard an unknown voice say:

“I removed the burden from their shoulders;
    their hands were set free from the basket.
In your distress you called and I rescued you,
    I answered you out of a thundercloud;
    I tested you at the waters of Meribah.
Hear me, my people, and I will warn you—
    if you would only listen to me, Israel!
You shall have no foreign god among you;
    you shall not worship any god other than me.
10 I am the Lord your God,
    who brought you up out of Egypt.
   Open wide your mouth and I will fill it.

11 “But my people would not listen to me;
    Israel would not submit to me.
12 So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts
    to follow their own devices.

13 “If my people would only listen to me,
    if Israel would only follow my ways,
14 how quickly I would subdue their enemies
    and turn my hand against their foes!
15 Those who hate the Lord would cringe before him,
    and their punishment would last forever.
16 But you would be fed with the finest of wheat;
    with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”

  1. Praying for Art this morning, and Janice too.

    As well as all involved. Yikes.

    ———-

    Just received a call from the doctor. My biopsy results are not back yet. My appt. has been moved to 2, unless of course the lab isn’t done by then.

    So frustrated.

  2. Praying for a good report, AJ. May Holy Spirit give you peace, knowing that He is there for you and that He already knows the outcome from the beginning. It is the greatest comfort to know that He is never surprised by our circumstances, and that in everything, we are in His hands.

  3. Well I’m home from the Dr.

    Unfortunately, the tumor they removed was cancerous. They are confident they got it all, and the tissue beneath and the muscle which they also biopsied, were both cancer free. This is good the doc says. He also says it was stage 0, not even stage 1, although it is an aggressive type. Also, good. He says my prognosis is excellent, but that’s not much consolation right now. I feel like I’ve been gut punched.

    They gave me 2 options. First was do nothing but observe and uroscopy every 3 months and see if it returns. The second, was immunotherapy. I’d rather treat it aggressively, so I opted for the second choice.

    They will now give me a month to heal from the biopsy surgery and then they will begin immunotherapy. I will go once a week for 6 weeks. Again, unfortunately this will require I get a catheter for an hour a week for 6 weeks. They administer it that way rather than by injection because then I won’t have to deal with the vomiting, weight, and hair loss typically associated with cancer treatment.

    I’ve opted not to share this with Elizabeth until she returns from college next Thursday. She is in the middle of exams and this would just upset and distract her. I feel bad, but thinks it’s best because nothing will be happening between now and then anyway.

    I would appreciate your prayers and prayer for my wife/nurse as well. This sucks, but God is in control, so I will do what I need to do, and try and leave the rest to Him.

  5. Art heard from the insurance adjuster. The preliminary report is showing the lady who died is the one at fault. Art will get a rental car until the car is deemed totaled. Then he turns in the rental and we exchange the title for a check (won’t be much on a 2007 Corolla w/high mileage). Poor car started out with a bang and ends with a bang. It got rear ended within a month of its purchase as a brand new car.
    Y’all I yelled at Art after he got off the line with the guy because he said, “i was lucky as hell.” I yelled that he better start giving credit to God. He was given a miracle and God needs the glory. God will stop giving him miracles if he does not give God glory. He tried to say it was just an expression but I did not let him off the hook. Please pray for us as the Holy Spirit leads in regards to his flippant and irreverent attitude.

  6. Giving our Lord thanks that this was caught early and even through the annoyance of treatment and the “unknowns” in our human minds….He Knows ❤️ Praying with you as this road is traveled by you and Cheryl….and Elizabeth and Isaac. May it draw you ever closer and deeper in knowledge and relationship with the Saviour…. As Corrie is quoted saying “there is no pit so deep that His love is deeper still”….
    We love you brother…..

  7. Well I typed so fast I forgot a word in the quote..
    “There is no pit so deep, that God’s love is NOT deeper still.”
    ― Corrie Ten Boom
    The comfort of knowing He is watching over us through it all is more than enough ❤️

    And I am praying for you and Art too Janice. He may just be shook right now but he may feel the depth of what could have happened and realize the Lord did indeed spare him from worse. Asking the Lord to reveal that very truth to him….

  9. Janice, it is certainly true that the Holy Spirit leads, and He does so in His perfect way and timing.

    Let me say this next gently, as you and Art have been through a lot with the accident.

    Art has experienced a harrowing incident. How he processes that may be different than how you or I would cope with a narrow miss our husbands may have.

    My own husband regularly uses the “h” word or the “d” word when he’s conversing with others who routinely use that kind of language. Not that I’m excusing that behavior, but I trust the Holy Spirit to do the convicting, and don’t generally feel it’s my place to remind husband of things he knows, or even to tell him things I might believe he doesn’t know but (IMO) needs to know.

    It would be a different matter if a man were abusively calling people expletives. That should not be tolerated. But in the context of having just been involved in an accident with a fatality, consider giving Art grace by not expressing displeasure with him for his choice of words at an extremely stressful time.

    I believe it will help both of you walk through this challenging aftermath of the accident if Art knows you’re fully on his side and are not trying to teach him a lesson the Holy Spirit is capable of delivering through Art’s God-given conscience. Support him in his pain, Janice, without telling him how he should or shouldn’t react to what may have been a much more traumatic experience for him than he’s letting on.

    Written with love and prayer,

  10. Thank you, 6, for that reminder. I think I felt righteous anger because he has been covered in prayer so many times and been given so many good answers that he fails to acknowledge. I am so frustrated. I guess I just need to show my gratefulness to God because when He provides for Art it is good for me. I also was frustrated that he did not feel protective of me and my friend last night and it would have been fine by him if we’d driven down to the dangerous area where people get shot every day/night to pick him up. Thank God I made the executive decision to not go ourselves. And God came through with a fast solution of that Uber driver.

  11. Your frustration is very understandable, Janice. Praying for you, sister. And how scary it would have been to go to a dangerous area to pick up your hubby! I’m thankful God made a way out of that.

    —-

    I have a prayer request this evening. I was struggling with whether to bring it, because it seems so small compared to cancer and horrific car crashes. But if you could pray for restoration of health for me, I’d appreciate it.

    I’ve had a fever for about 48 hours now, along with assorted other symptoms, and have been unable to homeschool and teach piano both Wednesday and Thursday. Mostly I lie around with plenty of blankets and cough. A half an hour of homeschooling this morning wiped me out, so I went back to bed.

    Prayers for the fever to break — it waxes and wanes, depending on time of day/night — but doesn’t go completely away.

    Thanks.
