Where does the time go? It seems like yesterday my little girl was a baby, but now she’s all grown up. It’s depressing, yet joyous.
And as Chas used to say pleased him, I have found a great deal of joy knowing my daughter and her husband are following our Lord Jesus Christ. I think I understand better what he was saying now that she is preparing to leave the nest. 🙂

I continue to learn how God works in and through people in so many different ways. I think of when he told his disciples that those, who are not working against him, are for him. I see more and more my own judgementalism and need to let God be God in people’s lives. I see more and more the beauty of God’s gift of prayer and of allowing us toparticipate in his plan.
Today the verse that caught my heart was from Philemon, “I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.” (6) Studying Paul’s prayers teach us so much. Sharing my faith will give me a fuller understanding of what we have in Christ? Lead on!
Yes, the day before the last supper Jesus was doing his father’s work whatever that may be. For sure we know he was teaching his disciples to prepare them for when he would no longer be with them.
There are several references to fig trees and fruit. I think the tree is a symbol of the Jewish leaders and their lack of fruit. Jesus tried for 3 years to reach them (and some believed). Many turned away, refused to have fruit and actually led astray those seeking God. They looked like they should have fruit. The tree looked like it should have fruit. But both were worthless for the need of the moment. In one parable Jesus tells, the landowner is advised to wait before cutting the tree down. Perhaps it will yet bear fruit. If not–then cut it down. In this true instance, Jesus, in essence, does just that.
In one gospel the disciples notice immediately that the tree withers. In another it is when they come back from Jerusalem. After Jesus again tries to reach the Pharisees etc. Now they have shown they will not listen to Jesus, which means they will not listen to God himself. They will have no good fruit.
We are too cold to grow figs here, but I often pick them in Tularosa. It seems to me that they do not bear their entire crop at once. They continually bear fruit throughout the season. Is that a lesson to us to be continually bearing fruit?
I know what you mean, AJ. Our three oldest left the nest knowing the Lord, and moving where there were solid Christians. The youngest does not yet know the Lord, but attends the church we used to attend, and spends a lot of time with D1 and family. D1’s husband is one of the pastors of the church.
I think Chas was referring to 3 John 4 – “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” It is a verse every parent with believing children can reate to.
Good Morning Wanderers. We have spent the last few weeks going through pictures and papers. Chuck has shared memories of things he had forgotten about until he saw a picture. We have laughed, wonder why he took that picture and cried some. Charlie and Elvera had a good life.
We were going through his file cabinet the other day (hearing him say go through every paper) and found his taxes in neat envelopes back to 1961. I thought 0h Charlie!!!
We are headed to Florida to spend a few days with Mary and her family. Little Charlie is so much like Chuck and Charlie. Seeing almost six year old Charlie make me know life goes on just as Charlie would had liked it to.

We will be attending a memorial service of a dear friend this Saturday. He too was 91 and a great encourager in our lives. LeRoy and Chas were oh so similar and we are blessed to have had their influence in the faith upon our lives!
Rk I read updates in the news last night before turning in and saw a headline “New Mexico on Fire”! I prayed for you all as my heart ached to those in the path of the devastating fire. Continuing to ask Him to protect you all and bring relief ❤️

Fifteen was busted stealing books from karate again last night. He says he thought they were free. But when asked, he denied taking them before eventually confessing. I guess that is a prayer concern. How to help him. He is interesting. He never gets angry. He is very live and let live. But then is confused when he does just that and we call him on it.

RK, prayers for the fire situation in NM. How awful, but also how true it is that God walks with us through trials. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Third Arrow is getting married next month. Next month!! Wait, what?!! Time flies, and off the young ones go to make their own homes. AJ, enjoy the blessing of Elizabeth’s presence in your home while you still have her in the household.
More wonderful news for 3rd Arrow this week: she’s been approved for a transfer to 1st shift starting May 9th, twelve days before her wedding. So she and her hubby-to-be will both work the same shift as they begin their married life together.
We hosted a bridal shower for daughter last weekend. Planning it was fun, though I underestimated the amount of time all the preparations would take! We did get everything done in time, though, and the bride-to-be was really happy with how it all turned out.
Today and tomorrow there is no school and no piano lessons. Cleaning / reorganizing our kitchen cabinets is my project for the day.
There’s something about being chosen, isn’t there? Now that I’m old enough, I see it in the young women in my life who get engaged. Even though we all could see the engagement coming, and applauded, their faces changed when they began to wear “that ring.”
Somehow they glowed and shone with a special joy.
It’s always been so lovely to see and share.
My prayer is I can see that on my own daughter’s face some day.
(Who, BTW, is SO happy at her new job. As is my husband who works with her and is so proud. God is good. We just have to trust him.)
And, and on another great bit of news, IT”S RAINING!
So much to be thankful for–even as I pray for RK and New Mexico. I’m so sorry. I understand.

I carried a Key lime pie to the new neighbor along with an invitation card to our Easter service. Good to meet her upclose. Found out she is Buddist, but nice about my invite. She sermed very happy to receive the pie. I had contact with the workers, too. Nice seeming hard working Hispanics. Maybe they need a pie, too?😀
The home for sale two doors from us in the opposite direction is going for $425,000. Outrageous in my opinion for these middle class homes.

Many times I’ve had the college dream about finals for a class I never bothered to attend. I’ve also had dreams about not going to my piano lesson at university for a whole term or in quite a while, at least. I would really like to be done with that not-going-to-piano dream! Maybe I should have never stopped taking lessons!

Teeth and dreams came from a link I posted yesterday–that has already gotten some 50 comments on my FB page–about the most common dreams in the world, based on country. The US, Canada, and the UK all had “teeth falling out,” nightmares posting as #1.
I’ve had the same teeth dissolving dream wake me up too many times, along with the horrific, “you’ve got a Spanish final today, like right now, hurry,” as I’m walking down UCLA’s Bruin Walk.
I’ve never been to the class, don’t remember where it is, and panic.

Note, as I told Janice, that dream only started after I graduated from college!
True story, I one got to class early — meteorology I think, one of those science requirements — and after a while began to feel like I wasn’t recognizing anyone. Sure enough, I was an hour early.
Had to slink out quietly, pretending I was there for a reason and now had to leave.
Those of y’all who have college students in your families who have to cite sources for research papers, warn them to make sure the source is valid and not a pay to publish scam article/book. Wesley has seen more of those than ever before. Scammers are working overtime and their junk oozes into the lives of so many vulnerable.
I finally got my replacement pot of soup made. Now I need to go scratch up some dinner for Art . . . not worms, but maybe salmon patties. I have to sctatch through canned salmon these days to get the skin out. I think they put more things like that in with the good inner meat of the fish so it takes twice as long to make the patties with the tedious removal of worthless parts.
I have heard of handwriting on the wall and a fly on the wall, but to write on the fly seems too difficult for all but the fastest and best. There must be some type of an award for that, DJ?
You can eat the salmon skin and save yourself a lot of time. It is loaded with omega 3’s. Just don’t eat the scales as they don’t go down easy or digest well. Kind of like skinning ginger, not necessary.

Their dog came over here one time, though, to introduce himself. 🙂
