Good Morning Everyone. Master Amos let me sleep in. Mr P reported that while I was out of town Amos rarely coughed. Hmmmm. Rotten much?
I am feeling rather smug today. Easter baskets are done. I went to Big Lots and Tuesday Morning yesterday afternoon. They had it all out so I thought “I better get while the gettin’s good”. BG loves Peeps so she is getting Peep scented hand soap and bath bombs and Peep flavored lip balm.
Little Miss is getting things little girls like to play with. Twirly ribbons on a stick, etc. Both will get. Swim suit because that is what the Easter Bunny has always left.
Janice is in a warmer climate, so her daffodils bloom a few weeks before ours. The previous owner planed several along the street, and we didn’ realize they were there for months since we moved in in July. We were pleasantly surprised when they bloomed the following March.
Wow, Easter baskets done before Ash Wednesday! That must be a record of some kind. I reuse baskets when I do any, which I haven’t for years. I also have emptied eggshells that were dyed that I will put out year after year, if I remember. Life sure changes as you age, and your family moves away. Not sure what this year will be like yet.
Those daffodils do make my heart long for spring. It will be a long time coming here! I wish my husband still liked to drive south for a bit. I will enjoy today, at any rate, and the bright sun on the snow. We were told by the weatherman that it was the last coldest day yesterday. We had almost -30, so I hope so. Should be close to 30 above today. Yay!
BG has had the same painted basket with her name on it since she was 2.
When Little Miss was 2 we bought her a painted tin pail that has her name on it. Mommy and Daddy can do whatever they want at their house. This is the one that stays here. The Bunny also leaves footprints leading up to the front door.
Looking out at the brilliant white this morning, I asked daughter if she was reminded of Revelation when Jesus is described in 1:14 with hair white like snow. She noticed the snow but did not associate. I see my work is still before me.
No Easter baskets here. My folks used paper bags so that is what we have always done with the occasional exception of baskets scattered around the house already.

Recent events have pushed the numbers even higher; almost a third of the posts read yesterday were either that one or “Rees Howells Intercessor–WWII Prayer Leader.”
In my own small microcosm, it looks like people want to pray.

Slow Saturday here, I just got out of the shower and will probably just be doing some errands today, including grocery shopping. Going also to Home Depot to grab a new rake, the one I use in the backyard for pet cleanup broke (it was old, wooden handle — but the perfect size for that chore).
Easter baskets, that does seem early 🙂 This year seems to be going just about as fast as last year so far, however. March, already, in a couple days?
The world is in quite a mess. God is doing something. Shaking us up for a purpose? For a needed readjustment in our focus?
Slow Saturday here too. I went through the pet cabinet and threw out old tick meds and weird stuff that came along when we inherited Duke – probably all outdated. Used a basket to hold all the miscellaneous bits and bobs and it looks much nicer now. I was trying to figure out how to disguise the box with the clippers in it when I realized we don’t need clippers anymore. :(. The cabinet is an old wood one with glass doors.

I made a run into town and the traffic was crazy…..I just wonder where all these people are going?! Sam’s wasn’t crowded nor was Marshall’s. The gas station was nuts…drivers cutting others off and sneaking into a spot someone obviously had been waiting for….people! 😳 so glad to be home!
No daffodils here and I would not expect to see them until mid to late June if at all. I am ever so thankful to see your lone daffodil Janice! Just knowing it is Spring somewhere!
I still have my Easter basket from when I was a child…and Mom had purchased it at a Goodwill at the time. Very faded and one side of the handle came out but the weaving is intact and the wooden bottom is still strong. We don’t do Easter baskets any longer but I do put my Van Briggle bunny on the coffee table….
I need to get gas today, it was below half a tank last time I was in it — which was, shockingly, several days ago! I used to drive all the time, every day. But working now from home, it sits. I’m saving on gas, I suppose — good since it’s at least $5 a gallon out there now, I’m sure, probably higher — but it also needs to get out (as do I!).
So it’ll be a round of errands today, which I hope will perk me up a bit.
Glad to hear you’ll be getting new dog clippers before long, Kare.
Bits and bobs I imagine is equivalent to our bits and pieces? Bits and bobs sounds better.
I have been discovering how to eat an elephant, one bite at a time. In reality that means I ventured into our back yard. Many months ago my brother had started a cleanup project but it got halted after only one session. Today I swept the patio of leaves some of which had turned to mulch. I did the same for the swing that is on a metal frame. I had many limbs and sticks to gather. Some of the larger ones were between our chainlink fence and the neighbor’s taller wooden privacy fence. I think she can’t see all this debris so I get to manage it all. Good exercise. My gain.
The new neighbors on the far side from the patio had their small dog on their deck and it barked at me once or twice and then perhaps they took it back inside because I heard it no more.
Then I saw one of the new neighbors out so I hollared a “Hello” (not close enough to chat). It went unheeded and thinking how my voice is rather soft, I increased the volume using my teacher’s voice. Totally ignored. I prefer to assume the person may be hard of hearing.
One of the many reasons I am glad I live in the middle of nowhere is that I never need to rake. Ever. The constant wind blows the leaves away. If they get within reach, the goats snag them but otherwise, they just sail away and provide nutrients to the farm fields. We do rake some to add to the compost but most just leave. And no neighbors for them to blow into their yard.
Having green tea here to begin my day. It is very high in zinc.
No fever this morning so perhaps I am on the mend. I actually did the dishes and got a shower yesterday which is amazing after several days of doing nothing.
Thanks, Jo, for the tip about green tea being high in zinc. I have been drinking about two cups of it per day.

Missing Chas today. Wondering if he will be able to go to church tomorrow? It does not require typing on a keyboard unless one is the church secretary😀
So glad that Becky has been with Chas. I remember following her blog and reading about her lovely children years ago. Thanks, Becky, for the contact that you have given us with Chas.
Charlie health has declined a lot in the several days. He sleep most of the time and eats very little. We think in the next few weeks he will be walking in glory and he is so ready. He tells me often he is looking forward to seeing Elvera. Please pray for Chuck, our family and his caregivers as we walk these days with him. We will be praying for all of his Wandering friends. Charlie loved each and everyone of you.
Crying tears of grief and joy…thank you Linda for letting us know. Your precious father in law is so very cherished by us all…we pray as he journeys home to be reunited with his precious bride and Christ…he has run the race and is finishing well. Our prayers are with you all ♥️
So sad to hear the situation, but thank you so much, LindaS, for letting us know. Yes, we all will be praying. Chas has been such an important part of our daily lives . . . always encouraging and edifying. Our lives have been so enriched by him. I am so thankful that Jo arranged the meetup with him and Elvera several years back. Praying he will have an easy transition to his heaveny home.
Tears and prayers, joy and sadness intermingled. May you know the Lord’s tender mercies, Chas, as He guides you in your last steps of the journey Home.
Oh, Linda, how we miss him already when he is not able to communicate with us. He is so very precious. Hugs to each of you as you walk with him in his last steps.
How can I express how precious Chas is to me. To have him acknowledge me by saying good night each morning. To be known by him and to be prayed for. Living alone across the world from my family. Chas made me feel a part of his family.
I am sure (please?) that Janice will come along and write out a beautiful prayer for our friend Chas, but as you know I always turn to the Book of Common Prayer:
A Prayer for a Person near Death
Almighty God, look on this your servant, lying in great
weakness, and comfort him with the promise of life
everlasting, given in the resurrection of your Son Jesus
Christ our Lord. Amen.
I’m horrible at expressing myself in these situations.
So I will just be honest and say what I feel.
I weep at the thought of losing our brother and friend Chas. I weep for his family, for Linda, Chuck, Becky, and all the others who will miss him dearly, as we will.
But I’m happy to have known the man Chas. He’s been a blessing, an example, a friend, an inspiration, a wise counselor, a great husband, a comedian at times, and that he’s a man with a heart for Jesus. I’m blessed to have known him for these many years, as you all agree I’m sure.
And I’m happy for him that he knows his destination after this life, he knows who awaits him, he knows he will be in the presence of our Lord. I take comfort in that, and I hope you all do too, as I know Chas does. Glory awaits, with a loving savior, and I’ve met few men in this life more deserving of such an eternal reward.
Thank you Chas, for being you, and for allowing us the chance to get to know you all these years. 🙂

As I watch coverage of the Ukraine and see how everybody is so solidly dressed for the weather, I imagine how cold it must be and how hard to be in a war zone in that, or fleeing the warzone with children in that. Praying for the believers to be lights to the world around them, and for peace and comfort.
Weeping as I read the comments. Our hearts are so touched and wishing to extend more comfort and love to Chas and his beloved family who are there beside him going the full distance.
I echo the thank you to AJ for the freat effort to keep the band of renegades from World together as a family bonded through love of God and Christian love for each other.
I went to a Sunday school group this morning. The study was deep into Daniel. It was a women’s class and includes internationals. I might choose this, but want to see some others first. I did get lost trying to find my way to the sanctuary. I used a bridge over and ended up in the balcony as the service was beginning and had to take steps down into the sanctuary, not as easy these days when I have both arms full with a bulky shoulder bag and another bag with granola bars and peanut butter for the food pantry along with my oversized heavy large print Bible. At least I ended up near my area where I have chosen to sit. I saw my “friend” and her husband and sat by them.
The pastor told about his very first mission trip which was to Ukraine and later he and his family were missionaries in Russia. He has great passion in praying over all that is happening there and spoke a good bit today about their time in Ukraine. The service was about Commissioning and how we are all on commision.
Oh, it’s almost time for my 3 p.m. prayer call to pray over the church where I am still a member. I still want the best for it and all, but eventually I suppose I will need to not join in on this call. Everything is awkward.
I debated whether to sit inside or outside at church today but decided to stick with outside. I was there early and sitting in one of the back rows when the pastor sauntered out (as he does to greet the ‘outside’ folks), joking with him “Can you get any further back?” I laughed, told him I’d be inside soon. 🙂 We chatted about the paper & news, as usual.
Sitting near me was a new family with a toddler; I overheard the dad tell the pastor “So you’re real, I’ve been watching on TV for about a year.” Another church member joked the pastor is really just a hologram. The family is signing up for the new members’ class. Interesting the contacts the church is making via the virtual services.
Today’s sermon was on the first verses of Rev. 11. That’s a lot.
Morning all….
Went to church and long winded Elder gave the message on wives submitting to husbands but he handled it very well…he went well over an hour…then afterwards there was that seven stanza hymn to be sung 😊 It was all good. I drove into town to walk around the antique shoppe….I just needed to air out my brain as I was weepy this morning and for some reason it sent me over the edge when I discovered husband took my car and left me the truck…I know it was a silly reaction but….oh well! (He had to go early to set up the sound system) Feeling better grounded now but it was a rough morning…
Monday and a holiday here.
I have a document that is not done yet of our interactions with Chas. Just lots of things that I copy and paste. I just saved all of the sweet comments from today. later, if anyone wants to save his words, I will pass it on.
NancyJill – I sometimes (maybe often?) have those times of crying over something that someone else would think is no big deal. (But when I was still driving, I would have been upset about having to drive a truck rather than a car!) Or sometimes just crying over the littlest of things, especially when over-tired.
I have had interuptions of phone calls and things all afternoon and until Art just got home. I wanted to post a prayer for Chas and family, but I have not had time to compose it yet. Maybe tomorrow won’t be so full. I am praying between interuptions, but posting will take longer. I have also had an active prayer request text going on with my Bible study ladies today.
Saddened to hear that Chas is nearing the end of his pilgrimage, but knowing that there will be rejoicing with the Lord at the homecoming of a faithful servant. Chas embodied kindness to me, sending gifts when I was in West Africa, and clearly caring for all the individuals on the blog community. He will be sorely missed.

I was there early and sitting in one of the back rows when the pastor sauntered out (as he does to greet the ‘outside’ folks), joking with him “Can you get any further back?” I laughed, told him I’d be inside soon. 🙂 We chatted about the paper & news, as usual.
Sitting near me was a new family with a toddler; I overheard the dad tell the pastor “So you’re real, I’ve been watching on TV for about a year.” Another church member joked the pastor is really just a hologram. The family is signing up for the new members’ class. Interesting the contacts the church is making via the virtual services.
Today’s sermon was on the first verses of Rev. 11. That’s a lot.

Morning all….
Went to church and long winded Elder gave the message on wives submitting to husbands but he handled it very well…he went well over an hour…then afterwards there was that seven stanza hymn to be sung 😊 It was all good. I drove into town to walk around the antique shoppe….I just needed to air out my brain as I was weepy this morning and for some reason it sent me over the edge when I discovered husband took my car and left me the truck…I know it was a silly reaction but….oh well! (He had to go early to set up the sound system) Feeling better grounded now but it was a rough morning…

Monday and a holiday here.
I have a document that is not done yet of our interactions with Chas. Just lots of things that I copy and paste. I just saved all of the sweet comments from today. later, if anyone wants to save his words, I will pass it on.

NancyJill – I sometimes (maybe often?) have those times of crying over something that someone else would think is no big deal. (But when I was still driving, I would have been upset about having to drive a truck rather than a car!) Or sometimes just crying over the littlest of things, especially when over-tired.

I have had interuptions of phone calls and things all afternoon and until Art just got home. I wanted to post a prayer for Chas and family, but I have not had time to compose it yet. Maybe tomorrow won’t be so full. I am praying between interuptions, but posting will take longer. I have also had an active prayer request text going on with my Bible study ladies today.

Saddened to hear that Chas is nearing the end of his pilgrimage, but knowing that there will be rejoicing with the Lord at the homecoming of a faithful servant. Chas embodied kindness to me, sending gifts when I was in West Africa, and clearly caring for all the individuals on the blog community. He will be sorely missed.
