It’s a joke. They catch the vapors over parading GrandMas, but actual rioters?

“Two Systems of Justice: Antifa Rioter Gets Case Dismissed With Community Service”

“An Antifa rioter in Portland, Oregon who shined a laser in the eyes of police officers during a riot and was subsequently arrested three times, has had his federal charges dropped after doing community service.

Meanwhile, Trump supporters continue to languish in jail for months over January 6th. We do not have equal justice under the law.

    https://legalinsurrection.com/2022/01/two-systems-of-justice-antifa-rioter-gets-case-dismissed-with-community-service/

Bradford Betz reports at FOX News:

Portland Antifa rioter charged with assaulting police has case dismissed after 30 hours community service

A Portland Antifa rioter charged last year with assaulting police officers has had a federal case dropped after completing 30 hours of community service, according to court documents.

Eva Warner of Beaverton, Oregon, who police said was also known as Joshua Warner, was charged in September 2020 with felony civil disorder.

On the evening of August 8, 2020, authorities declared a riot at the Portland Police Association office on North Lombard Street in Portland after Antifa members broke windows and set fire to the office. The rioters had also used vehicles and Dumpsters to illegally block traffic, according to the Justice Department.

That summer, Portland, like many other major cities, was facing mass protests that descended into violent rioting in response to the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

Portland Police said Warner directed a high-powered laser into the eyes of law enforcement officers trying to disperse the crowd. Warner resisted arrest, prompting officers to use force, the DOJ said. A laser pointer was found on Warner.

Warner was facing five years in jail, but performed community service:
Scott Erik Asphaug, acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon, filed a motion Dec. 21, asking the court to “dismiss with prejudice the indictment against (Warner), in the best interests of justice.” The motion noted that the defendant had performed “at least 30 hours of community service.”

This person looks like a real pillar of society:”

“This is not an isolated incident. Not only did the rioters at Trump’s inauguration get away with it, they got a cash settlement from DC over it.”

“Far-Left District Attorneys Have Unleashed Murder In Cities Like Philadelphia”

“Even before COVID or BLM riots, crime rates began to rise under leftist district attorneys who refuse to put criminals in jail.”

    https://thefederalist.com/2022/01/03/far-left-district-attorneys-have-unleashed-murder-in-cities-like-philadelphia/

“We still debate the reasons that crime fell in the 1990s. Better policing? Longer jail sentences? An aging population? Removal of lead from the atmosphere? They all may have played a role, along with other factors we are probably missing.

That debate is now academic. Crime has been rising for several years now. The new concern is why, and how we can get it to stop. Again, there are many factors, but the rise of leftist prosecutors who are soft on crime must be at the head of the list.

In my hometown of Philadelphia, crime as a general matter has been getting worse for years, and there are statistics to prove it. Philadelphia, like many big American cities, is experiencing more violent crime than at any point in its history.

Murder rates are a good proxy for violent crime generally, not only because it is the most horrific crime, but because it is harder to obscure statistically. Whether the authorities want to report it or not, whether or not the police get called, it is hard to hide the fact that someone was killed. Looking at that statistic gives us a fair impression of the level of violence in the city more generally.

The trend is discouraging, to say the least. In 2021, Philadelphia shattered the previous record in murders, which was 500 in 1990. As of December 31, a total of 559 people have lost their lives this year in the City of Brotherly Love. After some of the safest years in decades, the murder rate has climbed steeply since 2016. This year now has more than double the murders of just five years ago.”

  6. “The Real Insurrection: The BLM Riots

The corrupt January 6 Committee ignores it.”

    https://spectator.org/the-real-insurrection-the-blm-riots/

“Riots? What riots? Insurrection in American cities in 2020? Nothing to see here, folks. Move along.

Thus it is with the Stalinesque show trial that is the January 6 Committee. As my colleague Melissa Mackenzie illustrated yesterday, “the Democrats are running their committee like a criminal trial.” It is indeed blatantly unconstitutional and no one is attempting to stop them. Why?

What is particularly telling about the hysteria over January 6 is that infinitely worse riots took place across America in 2020 — a series of genuine and decidedly violent insurrections in the name of Black Lives Matter — and there is nary an investigation in sight.

So as January 6 of 2022 is upon us, let’s do a little compare and contrast as the hysteria about January 6, 2021, is whipped up in the liberal media.

There were five deaths in the Capitol riot. One, Ashli Babbitt, an unarmed woman, was shot to death by a Capitol police officer. The other four deaths included three who died of natural causes and one from a drug overdose. One of the fatalities, whose death was ruled as from natural causes, was a Capitol Hill police officer. Altogether there were 138 police officers injured, 73 of them from the Capitol Hill Police and 65 from Washington D.C.’s Metropolitan Police.

According to the Major Cities Chiefs Association, 574 riots took place across America between May 25 and July 31 of 2020 after the death of George Floyd. The report states that “more than 2,000 officers sustained injuries in the line of duty.” Say again, not 138 injured police officers but more than 2,000 police officers were injured — and not a blink from the January 6 Committee.

The MCCA also reported this, bold print for emphasis supplied:

In cities where violence did occur, assaults on police officers, looting, and arson were the most common criminal activities. Approximately, 72% of major city law enforcement agencies had officers harmed during the protests. This included nearly every agency that experienced at least one violent protest. In total, over the course of the civil unrest from May to July, more than 2,000 officers sustained injuries in the line of duty. One agency reported 50 officers being injured in a single week of protests. Another agency reported that 462 of their officers were injured during the protests in their jurisdiction.

Looting was also a common occurrence (2,385 instances), with 62% of major city law enforcement agencies indicating that at least one incident of looting occurred in their cities. This activity was primarily clustered during the first few days of protests. Of note, several agencies reported that in some instances, the looting appeared to be coordinated and organized. For example, some cities encountered ‘looting caravans’ that moved throughout different neighborhoods. One agency reported 115 commercial burglaries occurred in just one day. Two other agencies reported $927,000 worth of damage as a result of looting in each of their jurisdictions, and another agency reported a single looting event at a shopping mall that resulted in over $70 million in damage.

And speaking of damages done financially in these insurrections? Here’s the headline for those 2020 BLM riots per Axios: “Exclusive: $1 billion-plus riot damage is most expensive in insurance history.”

Suffice it to say this astronomical cost far exceeds the estimated $1.5 million of damage done in the Capitol riot.”

Some pigs are more equal than others I guess. But this demonstrates nicely what a joke the Jan 6 committee, led by professional liars like Pelosi and Schift, is. It’s laughable, and a total farce.

“Recently, Facebook decided to lock a start-up children’s book publisher out of their advertising account. This particular start-up was using Facebook ads to promote biographies about conservative figures, part of a series called Heroes of Liberty. The first three books in the series were about Thomas Sowell, Amy Coney Barrett and Ronald Reagan. Bethany Mandel, the editor of the books, says their advertising account was shut down, possibly because of complaints from progressives about the subject matter of the books.

“Facebook’s explanation of “low quality or disruptive content says:

Ads must not contain content leading to external landing pages that provide an unexpected or disruptive experience. This includes misleading ad positioning, such as overly sensationalized headlines or prompts for users to inauthentically interact with the ad, and leading people to landing pages that contain minimal original content and a majority of unrelated or low quality ad content. 8. God bless Dr. McCullough, Dr. Malone, Dr. Mercola, America’ s Frontline Doctors and others who have not succumbed to the mass psychosis and are speaking out at great personal risk.

    They are modern-day heroes!

    https://www.theepochtimes.com/mkt_morningbrief/dr-mccollough-says-outpatient-treatments-for-covid-19-have-been-suppressed_4189353.html

“Dr. Peter McCullough told The Epoch Times that the public should question why the governments and public health officials around the world have put little to no emphasis on outpatient treatments in their efforts to fight the COVID-19 virus, instead promoting a massive effort on vaccines.

“Lots of messaging on the vaccine, but zero mentioning on treatment, none. And it’s been from the very beginning. There is a theme here, I hope everyone’s starting to get the theme. There is zero effort, interest, promotion, or care about early treatment, people who are sick with COVID-19,” said McCullough. “But there is a complete and total focus on people who don’t have COVID-19 and giving them a vaccine.”

McCullough is an internist, cardiologist, epidemiologist, and lead author of the first paper on early COVID-19 outpatient treatment involving a multi-drug regimen. In a recent interview with EpochTV’s “American Thought Leaders” program, he discussed a wide range of evidence on COVID-19 preventative treatments that are being used around the world.

He said that drug treatments must be prioritized in the effort to stamp out the threat of COVID-19. “So early treatment markedly changes spreads. So, we reduce new cases, we reduce the intensity and severity and duration of symptoms. And by that mechanism, we reduce hospitalization and death.””

  9. I’ve said all along that the problem with the “following the science” claim is that there’s more than one kind of science, and sometimes they point in opposite directions. Medicine and epidemiology might point to shutting down and isolating ourselves, but economics and social science show that those are bad things. So it should always have been about balancing those.

Yet at the beginning it seemed that epidemiology was the only science that mattered. Never mind the social impact of purely epidemiology-driven policies.

So what Fauci has said recently, that we have to factor in the impact of having so many people out in deciding to shorten isolation recommendations, really does make sense. If only there had been such balance all along.

A few weeks ago I switched my default search engine from Google to Duck Duck Go. I did not realize that DDG installed an add-on to my browser that blocks the display of embedded tweets. So all I’ve been seeing from tweets posted here is text. Eventually I figured out that the highlighted text was links to open the tweets, which at least let me see what the text was about, although with annoying extra clicks.

All along I assumed that it was a change in WordPress. Only today did I discover the DDG setting in my browser, tweaked it, and now I can see all the tweets again.

  11. Kevin: Fauci also flip-flopped on hospitalization numbers and deaths because he finally admitted that people should have been counted as hospitalized with Covid, as opposed to because of Covid; as dying with Covid as opposed to because of Covid. He’s also flip-flopped on mask-wearing, the efficacy of the jabs, etc, etc. He always has his finger up in the political winds, but is still wrong on most of the issues. And of course, he was one of the key instigators that started this whole disaster.

  13. “Corporate Media’s Jan. 6 Anniversary Coverage Is All About Silencing Republicans”

    https://thefederalist.com/2022/01/04/corporate-medias-jan-6-anniversary-coverage-is-all-about-silencing-republicans/

“Equating the U.S. Capitol riot with GOP efforts to reform election laws is a way to avoid honest debate over the latter.”

“A lengthy New York Times editorial over the weekend has set the stage for this week’s Jan. 6 anniversary coverage. “Every Day Is Jan. 6 Now,” declare the Times editors, warning that Republican lawmakers in 41 states “have been trying to advance the goals of the Jan. 6 rioters — not by breaking laws but by making them.”

The argument itself, that tweaking state election law is somehow a subversion of democracy, is absurd and incredibly lazy. But it’s important to note, if only because it will serve as the baseline narrative for the entire corporate media’s Jan. 6 coverage this week.

Their message — they will all have more or less the same message — is simple: all Republicans are insurrectionists, the GOP is the enemy of the people, and the only way to preserve American democracy is to ensure that only Democrats can win elections.

To make this case, the Times’ editors had to stage a kind of linguistic insurrection. Lawful, constitutional efforts by elected representatives to change state election laws amount, in the Times’ telling, to a “bloodless, legalized” insurrection that “that no police officer can arrest and that no prosecutor can try in court.”

That’s no different than saying “speech is violence.” It’s nonsensical. By definition, there’s no such thing as a “bloodless, legalized” insurrection, any more than there could be a “mostly peaceful” riot. That said, the Times editors are wrong about one thing: state laws, including state election laws, can and often are challenged in court.

But the nonsense here serves a purpose. If the Jan. 6 riot can be conflated with perfectly valid GOP-led efforts to shore up state election rules, then perhaps those efforts can be wholly undermined, regardless of what voters in red states want. The irony is that it isn’t GOP lawmakers trying “to wrest control of electoral votes from their own people,” as the Times editors charge; it’s the Democrats and their media allies.

Consider that last year, 44 states enacted some 285 bills related to elections. In blue states, those bills tended to loosen certain election rules and requirements, especially for mail-in and absentee ballots. That makes sense given that Democrats tend to vote by mail-in ballot far more often than Republicans. Making mail-in and absentee voting easier is merely a way to boost Democratic votes in any given state. It’s simple.

By contrast, Republican-led states tended to pass laws limiting or more strictly defining the rules for mail-in and absentee voting, on the theory that absentee balloting is inherently less secure and more susceptible to fraud, especially when paired, as it often is, with practices like ballot-harvesting.

Republican lawmakers’ motivation here was to prevent a repeat of the free-for-all of the 2020 election, which saw a raft of last-minute changes to mail-in and absentee voting rules, justified on account of the pandemic. Many Republicans rightly felt that judges who overruled state legislatures and re-wrote state elections laws by fiat (as happened in Pennsylvania), undermined the integrity of the election.

By passing such reforms, Republican lawmakers were responding to actions taken by Democrats, unelected public health officials, and Democrat-friendly judges to overhaul state election rules ahead of 2020. If you wanted to be disingenuous about it, you could argue that Democrats staged a “bloodless, legalized” insurrection before the 2020 election even took place.

That’s why the Times and the rest of the corporate press want so badly to talk about Jan. 6 instead of getting into the nitty gritty of what these Republican-passed election reforms actually do. You’ll notice the media always describe these laws as “restricting voter access,” even when they do no such thing. The entire conversation is a bit of legerdemain, nothing more. That’s why you’ll never read a piece in the corporate press about how Georgia’s new election law, which President Joe Biden called “Jim Crow on steroids,” actually makes voting easier than it is in Biden’s home state of Delaware.”

  14. It’s almost like pre-existing conditions like obesity were contributing to Covid deaths all along.

    I know, I know…. crazy talk….

“CDC: 61% of Teenagers Hospitalized for COVID-19 Had Obesity

A new study of 915 childhood COVID-19 hospitalizations found that most involved underlying conditions.”

    https://reason.com/2022/01/03/cdc-covid-19-children-hospitalization-obesity-teenagers/

“One of the only silver linings of the pandemic has been that young people are less affected by COVID-19 than the elderly. In fact, the most vital indicator of negative COVID-19 outcomes is age: Unlike the Spanish flu, which ravaged armies that were overwhelmingly comprised of otherwise healthy young people during World War I, COVID-19’s death toll is dramatically skewed toward those who have already lived many years. (For context, the average age of death from Spanish flu was 28.)

That said, about 600 Americans under the age of 18 have died of COVID-19 during the pandemic. A new study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) took a closer look at young people who were hospitalized for COVID-19 in July and August, while the delta variant wave took hold, and largely found that healthy young people continue to mostly evade the worst of COVID-19.

The study found that most young people who suffer severe COVID-19 outcomes had underlying health conditions. The most common, especially for teenagers, was obesity.

“Among patients aged 12–17 years, 61.4 percent had obesity,” according to the study, “60.5 percent of whom had severe obesity.”

The study looked at six U.S. hospitals—all of them in the American South—and evaluated 915 cases of COVID-19 in adolescents that required hospitalization. The vast majority were hospitalized for COVID-19, though some had other infections as well. Of the 713 patients who were primarily hospitalized for COVID-19, two-thirds had at least one underlying health condition. For the teenage cohort—patients at least 12 years of age—the obesity rate was 61.4 percent. The severe obesity rate was 60.5 percent. Just one of the eligible patients had been vaccinated, and 11 patients died in total.

What this means, of course, is that COVID-19 can be a fatal disease, even for young people—but vaccine status and general health are extremely important variables. It remains the case that healthy children who do not have underlying health conditions—particularly obesity—are by and large safe from negative COVID-19 health outcomes.

“Compared with patients without obesity, those with obesity required higher levels and longer duration of care,” wrote the study’s authors. “These findings are consistent with previous reports and highlight the importance of obesity and other medical conditions as risk factors for severe COVID-19 in children and adolescents.””

“As we head into the second year of having handed Democrats the keys to drive us through the pandemic, let’s take stock: Wow, this sucks!

As of Monday, we’re averaging a shocking 486,000 new COVID infections each day. That’s nearly twice as many as the peak number of daily infections that took place under Trump. If voters had the benefit of knowing that not only would Joe Biden fail to “shut down the virus,” he would actually oversee the spread of a more contagious variant of the coronavirus and double the case count, what might the results of the 2020 election have looked like?

The fun doesn’t stop with just more cases. The New York Times on Monday reported that half a million K-12 students have gone back to “remote learning,” a phrase that doesn’t quite capture the devastation done to students by keeping them locked out of school.

Left-wing writer David Leonhardt had a timely column this week on the toll it’s taking. (And by “timely,” I mean his observations come about a year too late, but better than never.) Among his findings are a study by the Center for School and Student Progress showing the rate of academic achievement in grades third through eighth that was dramatically lower in 2020 and 2021 than in previous years. For reading, it was between three and six points lower in 2021 than in previous years. For math, between five and 10 points lower.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports a 51 percent increase in attempted suicide-related emergency room visits among teenage girls from 2019 to 2021.

Leonhardt wrote of his sudden epiphany that he “did not understand just how alarming the situation had become.”

Wait, you mean irreparably disrupting the mental development of children for years at a time has had an “alarming” effect? Who could have known?

And this is after Biden and the Democrat-controlled Congress have shoved through trillions more in spending on testing and other ridiculous gimmicks — douse those desks with Clorox to stop the airborne virus, folks! — that were for the explicit purpose of getting schools back in motion. Instead, teacher union reps (Biden voters) have said none of it matters. They still don’t feel like going back to the classroom.

There is no way to describe the situation other than dire, which is why Democrats and “public health officials” are now doing everything they can to make it seem like it’s not. Didn’t you hear? Someone infected with COVID is actually fine after five days instead of two weeks! Did you see the great news? Total case numbers aren’t actually important anymore! Anthony Fauci even told us not to worry about hospitalizations of patients who have COVID, because the positive status is often just coincidental with the real reason people are having to check in to the hospital.”

“For the first time in U.S. history, more fentanyl than heroin has been intercepted by federal law enforcement at the country’s borders.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data, 11,201 pounds of fentanyl was seized in fiscal year 2021, compared to 5,400 pounds of heroin. Other drugs seized include 319,447 pounds of marijuana, 190,861 pounds of methamphetamine, 97,638 pounds of cocaine, and 10,848 pounds of ketamine.

2,158 pounds of fentanyl has been seized in fiscal year 2022 to date, compared to 277 pounds of heroin.

The amount of heroin seized at the border decreased from 5,763 pounds in 2020, while the amount of fentanyl seized has exploded from 4,791 pounds in 2020.

“Not only were fentanyl seizures at the highest level ever recorded, but fentanyl overdoses within the United States also hit new highs, indicating the success that transnational criminal organizations had in pushing their deadly products to the public,” reported The Washington Examiner.

In December 2021, a DEA investigation identified a “direct link between fentanyl-related overdose deaths and criminal drug networks in Mexico.”

“Mexican criminal drug networks are harnessing the perfect drug trafficking tool: social media applications that are available on every smartphone,” DEA Administrator Anne Milgram said. “They are using these platforms to flood our country with fentanyl. The ease with which drug dealers can operate on social media and other popular smartphone apps is fueling our Nation’s unprecedented overdose epidemic.””

    https://legalinsurrection.com/2022/01/federal-judge-issues-stay-against-vaccine-mandate-for-navy-seals/

“We have been covering the continuing dismissals of qualified military personnel asking for religious exemptions from obtaining the COVID vaccine required under a federal mandate.

Now a federal judge has issued a temporary injunction against the mandate for Navy SEALs, who sued President Biden because they pursued a religious exemption.

Judge Reed O’Connor, the U.S. District Court Judge for the Northern District of Texas, issued the stay in response to a lawsuit filed by First Liberty Institute in November on behalf of 35 active-duty SEALs and three reservists seeking a religious exemption, as first reported by Fox News Digital.

“The Navy service members in this case seek to vindicate the very freedoms they have sacrificed so much to protect. The COVID-19 pandemic provides the government no license to abrogate those freedoms. There is no COVID-19 exception to the First Amendment,” O’Connor wrote in his ruling. “There is no military exclusion from our Constitution.”

The SEALS are among hundreds who have sought religious exemptions to the Defense Department mandate requiring all active-duty personnel to receive vaccination against COVID. The attorney for the military officials states the response to the mandate exemptions points to a political agenda.

First Liberty, the Texas-based public interest law firm representing what it said were “dozens of U.S. Navy SEALs and other Naval Special Warfare personnel” opposed to the Pentagon’s vaccine mandate, said the move protects the personnel from punishment for seeking a religious exemption.

“The latest count is well over 1,000 medical and administrative exemptions granted, but not a single religious exemption,” Mike Berry, First Liberty’s general counsel, said in a telephone interview.

He called that figure “almost impossible” to believe.

“I literally have never heard of any such thing in my entire life or professional career. But I think it shows that this is really rooted in religious hostility, and in a political agenda,” he added.

Meanwhile, the double vaccinated and boosted Secretary of Defense is recovering…from a case of COVID.
