The one-year-old boy, Blaze, abducted in a vehicle/car jacking has not been found yet. Yesterday before dawn our phones did that blaring Amber Alert. I felt hopeful for his quick return. So horrorifying. Prayers🙏
Janice, I like to make dark chocolate pomegranate candies this time of year. I just pour melted chocolate in the lined bottom of a small muffin tin. Add pomegranate seeds and then cover with more chocolate. They last for weeks in the fridge and make a wonderful bite of sweet.
Thank you, Kathaleena. I have 2 bars of unsweetened chocolate. If I add a bit of maple syrup to the recipe would that work? I love this. Thank you, thank you!
Difficult to say, Janice. I would melt a bit of the chocolate and mix with the syrup and see what happens and how you like the combination. Sounds good.
We are ok. Just trying to get caught up. I usually work 7 on 7 off. The pay 2 offs have been spent at my moms, plus part of my on. Trying to finish the things I needed to get done before the snow flies. I also need to go clean out her house and get it ready for winter.
My oldest daughter and her husband have been having problems and decided to divorce.
Jeremy has been in the hospital for 2 weeks and is now in Dallas waiting for a liver transplant. Amy just sent out a request asking for us to pray that their insurance will approve payment for the transplant. I would humbly ask that all of you would pray to that end as well.
Oh, RK, you’re under some heavy stress. I’ll be praying that helpers will come alongside and that you’ll have some time to periodically step away from some of the physical demands, such as clearing out the house. That’s a lot to be handling, physically-emotionally and spiritually.

God is your umbrella that never breaks or flips upside down in this deluge and storm. And He is your firm foundation when all around feels like quick sand in a time of earhquakes.
Kim, I dare not waste that wonderful food on Art. Actually, with his dentures, he would have a problem with the textures getting between his gums and the dentures. I am really challenged in feeding him given that and his picky tastes.
I know Wesley and my brother will like the recipe so I am happy to share it with them. Wesley would probably add some heat to it in some form.

But I know what she means. You wouldn’t waste a good recipe on me. I just eat whatever is there. If something special? I eat with tthe rest.

This is my favorite season: The trees turn to brilliant hues, the burnt-leaf-scented-air feels fresh and crisp, and a carpet of crimson and orange covers my lawn. Psalm 104:19 says, “He made the moon to mark the seasons; the sun knows its time for setting.”
I’m grateful for a Creator who makes sure that every season comes and goes in its proper time. How reassuring to know that we can count on His promise that “while the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease” (Genesis 8:22). ~
I just had another “Get Away!” moment with Miss Bosley. I attempted to pull something from a shelf above my head. A glass lid from a Corning ware dish fell and hit something on the counter. I looked in amazement to see the lid had not shattered. Then I heard the sound of liquid flowing.
What in the world?
I looked down at my feet to discover the plastic bottle of hand sanitizer was pouring out onto the floor.
Miss Bosley is wondering what new thing I will empty on the floor for her pleasure next. Eggs? Hand sanitizer? She is convinced I am a most exciting person.
Love that, di, from World. We received the magazine yesterday with Michelle’s comment printed. I got Art to read it to me. I’ve got teeth. He’s got eyes. It works!
Still thinking of Cheryl and Roscuro, too, hoping Cheryl is getting a lot of good fall photos on her walks and that Roscuro and family are all well and enjoying the younger ones.
It’s 88 degrees here. I have the windows all closed, main ceiling fan going. I think it’s still fairly cool in the house, maybe around 70-75. But outside it’s hot and dry. This is only supposed to last a couple days.
Nightingale and I had a fun exchange of texts earlier this morning. She was planning our Thanksgiving brunch and asking for my input on some of it. Then we were pretend-arguing over a couple things. I had suggested a substitute ingredient for one of her ideas, and she replied “. . .your bad taste is not going to sabotage my menu.,” and she had said that one of my ideas was “not a thing”.
So I replied to that:
“Well, Little Miss Conventional, all the things you do like were “not a thing” at one time.
I am not weird, I am an innovator! EmojiEmojiEmoji”
Well, here it has been warmer than I expected. It was dreary most of the day, but I prayed for a bit of sunshine while I was out and I got it at the right time to get some photos of leaves in my yard. As I was taking photos a few sprinkles of rain fell as if God was winking and saying, “Look what I did!”
On the not so bright side, i went out to get the mail while I was heating a raspberry bar for 35 seconds. When I got back in the microwave was still going. I realized I had hit 3:50 instead of 35. Vision problems! I opened the microwave door and stinky smoke poured out. No fire, PTL
The house will stink all night and probably longer. Spiritual warfare . . . grrr . . . And Miss Bosley wonders, What next?
The sun is setting behind the mountain and my neighbor and I just finished up our walk. As we reached the end of my road there stood a big ‘ol buck…and he had a menacing look about him…we turned around. He’s looking for a girlfriend this time of year and is just plain ornery!
Doctor visit went well and I made my appt for my booster at the end of the month. She said the numbers are rising and she wanted me to promise to be careful…cuz I’m old!! 😂
Stopped at the store…lots of empty shelves and what is there costs much! Stood there with my jaw dropped at some of the rising prices on things! But still thankful we lack for nothing and we are cared for by our Provider of all….

Story done, but another one I need to get back to again. Off to the port of LB tomorrow morning for a visit from one of our US Senators. I’ll have that one + another one to do tomorrow, not counting the one I should get back to today but am hoping can be held until next week.
I just took a walk out to the front porch to cut the dead-heads off the hanging geraniums. They are still so lush and pretty. I would normally think of buying hanging poinsettias for Christmas, but these are still doing so well I think I’ll leave them in place.
I’d love to get a tree this year. But I’ve also been in touch with the landscaping company that removed my dead pine in the backyard about putting in a replacement pine which I really would like to do (and this is the time of year to do it, apparently).
You never answered Kim, Janice, about why you want to add the maple syrup. It certainly isn’t necessary. You can use any chocolate you want. I like the dark chocolate myself, but I know some dislike it. Since you can add flavoring to chocolate, maple syrup should be fine. The only thing I get concerned about is the chocolate seizing. I would think real syrup should be fine, however. Let us know if you experiment with it. These are kind of like chocolate covered cherries–the longer they sit, they create a juiciness in the middle.
Dark as night here. Biking and rowing done for the day. I had the two carry pellets upstairs for the pellet stove. While there, I had fifteen apply himself to my rowing machine. He said, ouch, that is hard!
I bought a bar of semi-sweet chocolate to use with my first batch. I wanted to use maplr syrup to sweeten the unsweetened chocoate because maple syrup is suppose to be better than sugar for diabetes/prediabetes. I need to look up about chocolate seizing. Does that mean separating into part cocoa butter?
Saved from another mini disaster. No mix chocolate bar and maple syrup! I want to seize chocolate but not have it seize in my cooking! Thank you, Kathaleena.
Art asked for seconds on his potato salad but not on his carrots. I have read that by serving the potatoes cold it changes the starch so that it does not turn to fat like warm potatoes. Now to go see if that is truth or fiction.
I am not a candy maker. That said, I am intrigued by this idea of seizing chocolate. Never heard of it before but have heard that you are not supposed to let steam near your chocolate. So I was reading and am curious. I remember making turtles with my grandmother and vanilla was added to the melted chocolate. Maybe vanilla is not water based? So maybe maple syrup could be added? Curious to know.
Car wouldn’t start so walked to school. Mechanic came to get the key. Later another sweet teacher took me to the store and home. The car is here but I don’t know where the key is
I think the mechanic has the key. He said he didn’t get to it today. But at least I know that I am walking on Monday. perhaps it is time to rent the singles van. Lots of room to give folks rides as I think it holds twenty passengers.
