Good morning everyone else.
Breakfast is over, coffee is still warm and I am about to start the day.
Whatever that is. I have nothi;ng I need to do right now.
Maybe stop and pray for you as I start my devotions.
Good morning. It’s another damp and chilly fall day here.
Cat Food Breath just hopped into my lap. Better than Dog Breath or Fresh Step Feet.
I feel rough this a.m. since I stayed alert for that Braves game until around midnight. It was worth it. They surprised Art in a good way. That makes me happy to see him happy.
Well, we know He knows it all–past, present and future. He tells us not to fret about to fret about evil men or to envy those who do wrong. We heard Jesus say he wept over Jerusalem because they would not accept the truth. We also do see in the bible thatGod has a sense of humor.
My bible reading (chronologically) is in the gospels when Jesus was ‘tried’ by the religious authorities. That they would spit on him and beat him says a lot about the souls of those in the religious hierarchy. We are told they wanted to hold on to their position, power and wealth. I wonder about Judas, who also wanted to be with Jesus as long as he thought Jesus would lead a rebellion and he could ride the wave. (We know he was stealing from the community money bag, so wealth was important to him.) Once he realized that was not going to happen, he was willing to sell Jesus out to get into the ‘in crowd’ of the Jews. Why he thought that would happen is beyond me. That is kind of like trusting a spouse who was unfaithful to the spouse he cheated on to be with you. I think some sermons fleshing out the political/religious intrigue would be helpful to new believers and young people. That kind of intrigue will continue to happen until Christ returns and it is good to be on alert about it.

I’ve been up since 5…husband needed me to make a quiche for the Men’s breakfast this morning. The house smells good but I didn’t get to partake of the yummy quiche. Why is it that at the men’s breakfasts they have ham,bacon,eggs,grits,hash browns and the ladies have “luncheons” with chicken salad and grapes? 😂
I’ve been up since 8 a.m. (I was surprised it was that “late” as it’s really overcast today and is stills so dark outside.)
I slept like a rock, it was an exhausting week. The rock music from the garage next door is a little too loud this morning.
Spent some time in the other neighbors’ backyard with some coffee late yesterday, catching up on the rehab sessions (she’s really tired of doctors, which I can understand). Her husband, an electrician by trade, is trying to help me figure out the garage issue (it’s lost all power). I can’t open the automatic door and can’t find the backup key for it, of course. I’m going to call the company that installed the door to see if they can get a new key for me, I’m guessing this happens a fair number of times with their customers.
I’m hoping this is an easy fix, there’s an electrical panel inside the garage. Something must have blown.
Such a frightening header or head shot! Beware of fake swords that have been switched with the real thing (The Real). Now you just need a tomahawk to do the chop, chop to cheer the Braves on to a win.
Floors, countertops, fridge, cabinets…all cleaned and polished. Now sitting in the living room facing the dusting that needs to be done in here. Then there are the bathrooms, bedrooms and office..but hey at least all those floors are clean….I kind of feel like a hamster on that spinning wheel…. 🐹

I had a very difficult time managing to open into the new big box of Fresh Step kitty litter.. I was determined to not have to find a tool to get it open. I started peeling away the layers of the tightly sealed box at the corner. I felt glad to know that Miss Bosley was not in a hurry to go. Seemed I could have broken into Fort Knox more easily. I had to take off my outer shirt because I began to work up a sweat. Finally I got it done.
Lately I have enjoyed snacking on raw cabbage. I usually have a chunk left over from making slaw, or this timr ig was left from the lomein dish. If works well with the craving for something crunchy. My how my diet has changed.

I just got this in my email for future reference.
This week when I thought I was opening a can of garbanzo beans, I opened a can of corn kernals. I got a new idea to try putting them in the buckwheat cornbread recipe I have been making. Otherwise I will put the corn into a kidney bean salad.
I just had a bowl of raw broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and sliced radishes (love radishes). I love cabbage, too, the purple kind.
So the neighbor has tentatively diagnosed my problem as some kind of short inside the garage.
But we still can’t open the door.
So I called the garage door company, someone’s supposed to call me back and, I am hoping, will be able to tell me how to open the door (the key isn’t working).
Barring that, a garage door service appointment is now set up for 8 a.m. Wednesday, the earliest they could do it.
I started wondering if wokeness will creep into bashing the use of the Pirate name because they were (are) a people group who lives on the oceans. Over time, nothing is immune to such scrutiny. Like the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. There may somewhere be people who claim themselves to be yellow jackets. How dare a college name their team after those buggy people? It hurts their feelings. A suit is in the making. Things are over the top weird these days.

I begin my browsing by going to the google page where all of my usual sites are saved. They have added something at the bottom of the page that I can’t get rid of. It is to let me watch a conversation concerning climate change. NO WAY.
Not something that I am going to watch and it bothers me that they put it up.

Yes. Ignore the stuff about climate change. It changes abouttwice a year and comes back to where it started.
I agree, Chas. But so many others are being brainwashed into thinking otherwise. I do see cycles in the climate. It is again something folks are using to push their agenda.
ummm…. Aj, the picture is great. But when you mention how long your hair is, I wonder if you have asked your sweet wife how she likes your hair. This length or shorter??
You have to use beard wash when you shower, to keep it clean. Then you have to aplly beard oil, which oddly enough is for the skin, not the beard. The beard sucks all the moisture out of your face and it will get dry and flaky like dandruff, but on your chin. It shows up on your shirt, most unbecoming…. Anyway, then you let the oil sit for 5 minutes during which time I apply a little pomade and tie my hair back. Then it’s on brushing the beard with a soft brush, and lastly a beard balm, for sculpting and shaping.
And on off days when no balm is used you put in beard butter, which looks and feels like melted butter after you emolliate it by rubbing your palms and fingers together. I use a tangerine scented one that smells wonderful. 🙂
A nice beard is hard work. My shower time is now twice as long as pre-Covid. 🙂
For the ladies attending group Bible studies, how long do your sessions last including the time for prayer requests and prayer? We have been trying something different to speed things up. I am getting the prayer requests by email the evening before and copying and pastingcthem on a long text for us to have on our phones to go through during our prayer time instead of goinv around asking for requests along with praying over what we have just requested. I am trying to find the best way to have an hour Bible study with half an hour for prayer. I wish we could have an open end on the prayer part but people always have to leave.
Biddy used to listen to the prayer request, then turn up her hands and say, “We give this to you, Lord.”
Why tell him again what he’s already heard?
OTOH, sometimes I ask people to pray for their own requests–but they don’t seem to like that as much.
90 minutes, total, with additional time as needed afterward if people want to pray more. It works out to about 20 minutes of prayer and talk, then about 70 minutes of discussion.
Bsf has gone to sending the prayer requests by text. But there was no time to pray as the class only met for 45 minutes.

DJ- Yes, we gain an hour next weekend, but it is returning the hour we lost last Spring. Can’t we just stay on one or the other and stop this foolishness of changing the clocks twice a year?

Janice this Precepts class goes anywhere from 3-3 1/2 hours which is an overload for me. That is why once our study is over I have the urge to bolt when our leader sets up the hour long video to be watched. My Tuesday morning study goes 2 hours but it is smaller with only 4 ladies…we have about a half hour of getting tea and chatting before the study..that is more suitable for me…
Anybody see the northern lights? Mike was up in the middle of the night and saw them but by the time he woke me up, they were not visible. But we had noticed that the lights had been especially sparkly and bright earlier in the night. Interesting.
I have to say I appreciate the focus of BSF on Bible study — class members pray on their own time but the class time, which is limited, is structured to get through the complete lesson each week. It’s not meant to be an open-ended time (or we would have never gotten through the lessons each week).
No church for us this morning. Well, finished church in Virginia, but not local. Still dealing with this illness and after affects or ongoing or whatever.
Lots of long haired men around here but mostly they keep it back in a neat braid. I am fine with it.
Last time we visited my dad and daughter went with me, dad had the tv on to a James Herriot episode, without any sound. Daughter was engrossed in the show. My dad made the comment that he could not turn it off or my son would be bothered. I pointed out her below the waist hair and mentioned it was my daughter. Apparently hair length is not a difference.
Interestingly, son in Virginia seems to have picked up the northern lights on his door camera, in the day time! A greenish streak can be seen shifting across the horizon with various time stamps but he says he cannot see it with his eyes. The camera picked it up. Astonishing! The heavens proclaim…

I got to the church service late since I did not receive the usual Facebook notification. I finally went to the church Facebook page and could get it there. The lead pastor did not feel well so the pastor to seniors did the sermon. I always appreciate his teaching, and I use to attend his Wednesday night Bible studies before we dismantled the former church. His topic was God’s grace which is never out of season.
Since it’s Halloween and talk tends toward scary, my father had something to say about men with long beards. After he retired from the Navy he worked in construction until he got too old for that. Then he bought a barbershop. He could not stand dealing with old men with long beards because most tended to have old dried up runny egg in those beards. Why do I always remember that? Scary. I am sure it does not apply to any of our husbands who have happen to wear longish beards.
You may be confused, though no one has expressed it. When I say, ” I can see the error, I just can’t see to fix it.

My lowest student has been out for quarantine for two weeks. Not sure if he will return today or not. Then a new student will be here sometime this week so I’d better get a place ready for him. That will make 9 boys and 2 girls.
I am having a few aches and pains in joints today. The weather has seemed to get much colder all of a sudden. Wondering if it is that or something else. Time will tell.
Refreshed the page before typing…didn’t want to burst anyone’s 100 bubble or anything. Still foggy, drizzly and cold here. A do nothing kind of day but church was good. We sang that song too Dj…Reformation Sunday!
So I may have gotten some more info about the garage electrical outage, Real Estate Guy came by and talked to my retired electrician neighbor again — and other neighbor, the 35-year-old teen-ager, says his uncle is an electrician so he’ll send him over to talk to me.
(I talked to the retired electrician neighbor again, after Real Estate Guy left.)
But Real Estate Guy was able to pinpoint the power cord that comes out of the house — at the outside corner of my work room — across the patio overhang and into the garage. Thinking the short or whatever went wrong may be located there.
I have been in many studies (or led them) and the timing varied. When I had them I tried to stick to a couple of hours, which included both study and prayer. Less time in prayer. It is difficult to cut the chit chat. It is important to be social and yet that can take up all the bible study time. I have been to some when that was the main serving with a very short time in scripture for dessert. I really disliked the one where the hostess insisted on serving lunch to everyone and it became an almost all day thing. OTOH, if I have to drive into town and spend more time on the road than in the study, I question the point of doing that. Mostly that was with a pastor who seemed in a great hurry to get the ‘job’ over with. I could never understand that attitude and found it quite sad.
Chas, that is why I always buy candy I like. It may last a long time, but wiill eventually get even. We have had none, but the light is on and the shades open. It is very dark out and we had snow flurries.
BSF is know for its disciplined (detractors say rigid) approach to systematically studying books or sections of the Bible (Minor Prophets is one of the OT studies) for a year each.
Part of that includes making sure the individual breakout groups (I was a group leader for several years) get though all of the questions for participation in the allotted time.
Prayers and sharing are done more in monthly or quarterly fellowship nights.
4-2, Atlanta in the lead in 2nd inning, Game 5, for the World Series. If the Braves win tonight it will be the first World Series win for the team since the mid 1990s, I believe.
We start our group by reciting whatever Bible memory verse we have individually selected and then we have opening prayer and get right to the Bible study. We have not been going through a full chapter in the study book. I have enjoyed the slower pace with a lot of discussion. I don’t like to rush through something that is rich for people to discuss. That can be where spiritual growth can be discoveted.

Well I got an email today from the family that is loaning me their suv. They are not coming back and will be selling it. So please pray for some other transportation for me. These hills are steep. But mostly it is that they are covered in loose gravel. Not a good place to fall.

You can’t tell how long my hair is because of the hat and it’s in a pony tail, but it’s long, like way long….
A year and a half without a haircut will do that.

Our town’s (and high school’s) mascot/symbol is the Pirates, lots of Pirate decals and images around here.
I saw a cute Halloween kids’ wagon — a container ship with boxes all around.
I seem to have found the garage door key (on my old key ring for the Jeep Liberty), the key turns but door won’t lift … Argh.

Our home group studies always wound up with taking more time on prayer needs being shared and then prayed for than the actual study.

Janice, I made maple leaf shaped sandwich cookies and spiced pecans and almonds to bring. They fit quite nicely with all the other things to munch on.

Why tell him again what he’s already heard?
OTOH, sometimes I ask people to pray for their own requests–but they don’t seem to like that as much.
90 minutes, total, with additional time as needed afterward if people want to pray more. It works out to about 20 minutes of prayer and talk, then about 70 minutes of discussion.

Bsf has gone to sending the prayer requests by text. But there was no time to pray as the class only met for 45 minutes.

DJ- Yes, we gain an hour next weekend, but it is returning the hour we lost last Spring. Can’t we just stay on one or the other and stop this foolishness of changing the clocks twice a year?

Good foggy morning! It is predicted to be foggy and cold all the live long day but we will head out into this mess a bit for church.
Dj that bookcase is in the garage? Hmm…time to move it into the house..once the garage door can be opened?… and yes…we don’t need one more hour in 2021…or Yoko for that matter! 😂
Janice this Precepts class goes anywhere from 3-3 1/2 hours which is an overload for me. That is why once our study is over I have the urge to bolt when our leader sets up the hour long video to be watched. My Tuesday morning study goes 2 hours but it is smaller with only 4 ladies…we have about a half hour of getting tea and chatting before the study..that is more suitable for me…

Anybody see the northern lights? Mike was up in the middle of the night and saw them but by the time he woke me up, they were not visible. But we had noticed that the lights had been especially sparkly and bright earlier in the night. Interesting.

I always like the extra hour of sleep every year.
I have to say I appreciate the focus of BSF on Bible study — class members pray on their own time but the class time, which is limited, is structured to get through the complete lesson each week. It’s not meant to be an open-ended time (or we would have never gotten through the lessons each week).

Lots of long haired men around here but mostly they keep it back in a neat braid. I am fine with it.
Last time we visited my dad and daughter went with me, dad had the tv on to a James Herriot episode, without any sound. Daughter was engrossed in the show. My dad made the comment that he could not turn it off or my son would be bothered. I pointed out her below the waist hair and mentioned it was my daughter. Apparently hair length is not a difference.

Interestingly, son in Virginia seems to have picked up the northern lights on his door camera, in the day time! A greenish streak can be seen shifting across the horizon with various time stamps but he says he cannot see it with his eyes. The camera picked it up. Astonishing! The heavens proclaim…

I got to the church service late since I did not receive the usual Facebook notification. I finally went to the church Facebook page and could get it there. The lead pastor did not feel well so the pastor to seniors did the sermon. I always appreciate his teaching, and I use to attend his Wednesday night Bible studies before we dismantled the former church. His topic was God’s grace which is never out of season.

Since it’s Halloween and talk tends toward scary, my father had something to say about men with long beards. After he retired from the Navy he worked in construction until he got too old for that. Then he bought a barbershop. He could not stand dealing with old men with long beards because most tended to have old dried up runny egg in those beards. Why do I always remember that? Scary. I am sure it does not apply to any of our husbands who have happen to wear longish beards.

My lowest student has been out for quarantine for two weeks. Not sure if he will return today or not. Then a new student will be here sometime this week so I’d better get a place ready for him. That will make 9 boys and 2 girls.

So I may have gotten some more info about the garage electrical outage, Real Estate Guy came by and talked to my retired electrician neighbor again — and other neighbor, the 35-year-old teen-ager, says his uncle is an electrician so he’ll send him over to talk to me.

But Real Estate Guy was able to pinpoint the power cord that comes out of the house — at the outside corner of my work room — across the patio overhang and into the garage. Thinking the short or whatever went wrong may be located there.

Neighbors are busy putting out more ghostly decorations, along with pumpkins. The kids and grandkids are all pirching in.

Did I miss what BSF is?
I have been in many studies (or led them) and the timing varied. When I had them I tried to stick to a couple of hours, which included both study and prayer. Less time in prayer. It is difficult to cut the chit chat. It is important to be social and yet that can take up all the bible study time. I have been to some when that was the main serving with a very short time in scripture for dessert. I really disliked the one where the hostess insisted on serving lunch to everyone and it became an almost all day thing. OTOH, if I have to drive into town and spend more time on the road than in the study, I question the point of doing that. Mostly that was with a pastor who seemed in a great hurry to get the ‘job’ over with. I could never understand that attitude and found it quite sad.

Chas, that is why I always buy candy I like. It may last a long time, but wiill eventually get even. We have had none, but the light is on and the shades open. It is very dark out and we had snow flurries.

BSF is, I believe, Bible Study Fellowship. An organization that has been around for years. I have never attended but know a lot of people who like it.

BSF is know for its disciplined (detractors say rigid) approach to systematically studying books or sections of the Bible (Minor Prophets is one of the OT studies) for a year each.
Part of that includes making sure the individual breakout groups (I was a group leader for several years) get though all of the questions for participation in the allotted time.
Prayers and sharing are done more in monthly or quarterly fellowship nights.

4-2, Atlanta in the lead in 2nd inning, Game 5, for the World Series. If the Braves win tonight it will be the first World Series win for the team since the mid 1990s, I believe.

We start our group by reciting whatever Bible memory verse we have individually selected and then we have opening prayer and get right to the Bible study. We have not been going through a full chapter in the study book. I have enjoyed the slower pace with a lot of discussion. I don’t like to rush through something that is rich for people to discuss. That can be where spiritual growth can be discoveted.

Well I got an email today from the family that is loaning me their suv. They are not coming back and will be selling it. So please pray for some other transportation for me. These hills are steep. But mostly it is that they are covered in loose gravel. Not a good place to fall.
