Yesterday, my veterinarian said to me (regarding covid) “It’s an imperfect situation but it would be much worse without the vaccines.” Vaccines are doing what they are designed to do, preventing serious illnesses, not necessarily infections.
He said there is some concern watching the newer Lambda variant as it’s different enough that it could require a new vaccination altogether.
I know a couple folks who were vaccinated and recently tested positive, mild symptoms and they’re nearly done with their in-home quarantines (since infections in vaccinate folks are still believed to spread to others).
So yes, definitely an imperfect situation. But we have at least some good options in the quest to tamp down this pandemic as soon as possible. That may not be soon enough for most of us, however.
I’m all in favor of breaking up Big Tech. I have to give Paul credit he does admit that would violate property rights and for him to complain about being blocked would also being attacking property rights — the corner stone of modern capitalism or neo-liberalism. Instead the advocates taking his business elsewhere. My issue with people branching off to different social media providers is it re-enforces opinion, creates an echo chamber and separates people far more than they are already. However, Youtube and other big sites are also cognizant that class action suits are possible if they allow inaccurate and potentially harmful information. In Rand Paul’s case he called on people to ignore public health rules — this opens up litigation based as they may result in more people getting sick; it also opens up RICO as youtube maybe held responsible for allowing and distributing a video that called on people to break the law. Smaller sites may have less liability as they don’t have the reach and of course lawyers don’t target small companies. With property rights and corporate rights come legal responsibility and Youtube etc are well aware of this.
Looking at the wage and inflation graph we can see the distortion of 2020. In that year wages went up for essential workers while others stopped collecting wages hence the average wage will spike. Meanwhile the economy slowed down to almost a stop and hence the inflation drops to almost nothing. if you negate 2020, the 2021 data corresponds fairly well to 2019 and given an other year, if all goes well, we should be back to similar graph lines as before with 2020 appear as an outlier.

In Rand Paul’s case he called on people to ignore public health rules — this opens up litigation based as they may result in more people getting sick; it also opens up RICO as youtube maybe held responsible for allowing and distributing a video that called on people to break the law. Smaller sites may have less liability as they don’t have the reach and of course lawyers don’t target small companies. With property rights and corporate rights come legal responsibility and Youtube etc are well aware of this.

Looking at the wage and inflation graph we can see the distortion of 2020. In that year wages went up for essential workers while others stopped collecting wages hence the average wage will spike. Meanwhile the economy slowed down to almost a stop and hence the inflation drops to almost nothing. if you negate 2020, the 2021 data corresponds fairly well to 2019 and given an other year, if all goes well, we should be back to similar graph lines as before with 2020 appear as an outlier.

Weird news just came through my news feed — In Feb 2020, Rand Paul’s wife bought stock in Remdesivir, a drug used to treat Covid patients….and he said no one should follow the CDC’s mask mandates? A coincidence I would hope but he now has a conflict of interest in Covid policy — he should step back.

On TV they are discussing the removal of all the Afghans who supported us while were there. That is a good move.
Anyone who smiled at an American is in danger now. We need to protect them.

These federal agencies mandate experimental injections that have NOT been approved by the FDA and have a proven record of adverse and deadly consequences… all while claiming it will save lives? If the government can force compliance with this, then what is next?
If front-line medical workers are hesitant about receiving the injection and instead need to be mandated and coerced into taking it, then we should all take notice and ask: “What is it that they know, that the media and government doesn’t want us to know?”
The powers that be are having trouble convincing millions of people who can see through the web of lies they are spinning, so in recent weeks they have been engaging in an extremely aggressive propaganda push that consistently contradicts the real science. They can’t have such a large control group for when everything goes terribly wrong…
These experimental injections are NOT about public health nor are they about saving lives. They are obviously about something else – this is a crime against humanity.

AJ – My point has nothing to do with the story – even the National Inquirer sometimes reports on real stories – but you brought up HRW’s having previously pointed out that the Daily Mail is not a good source, and I was merely saying that he’s not the only one. I’ve known for years that they do not have a good reputation.
As for complaining about sources, you have done that yourself with sources you consider too liberal.

AJ — There’s no story there. Hunter is admitting to a prostitute that he lost a laptop with homemade porn. End of story. UK tabloids love any excuse to show half naked women and this meets their criteria. MSM would chase the story if it was a story but right now they are celebrating chasing Cuomo out of the governor’s office. There’s a long history of MSM chasing sexual stories that had relevance currently exemplified by the Cuomo story. Previously, they’ve reported on other politicians like Gaetz and Trump. The difference is Democrats resign. Republican supporters don’t seem to mind tabloid like behaviour in their politicians.
Beside lack of actual content, Hunter isn’t even political relevant. There’s no indication he’s hanging out the White House nor does he have a position in the admin. The Trump children were in the White House and were part of the admin. Their business activities which were covered were relevant. Tiffany on the other hand was barely covered by the press — she wasn’t part of the admin, rarely went to the white house so her activities like Hunter were not relevant.

Let’s face it. Afghanistan is a disaster for any superpower — the UK, the USSR, and now the USA. Withdrawal was always going to be messy but it was also necessary. In the long run, its a good move — the war was an unnecessary drain on resources and American young people. In the short run, there may be some political backlash but Biden can afford that as it still appears he will only have one term.

Ok now that’s just silly…comparing Hunter Biden’s lack of coverage from MSM with Tiffany Trump? He is out there chasing and doing things with anything in a skirt, drugging up , cavorting with higher ups in other countries and receiving outrageous amounts of money from them for…um…what?….and oh yes he’s painting….Tiffany on the other hand is leading a relatively quiet life, has a couple degrees…law being one and is not leading a rather steady and productive life. (Nothing to see there so move on!) smacks ya right in the face and you still don’t see it….
