Prayer Requests 6-7-21

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 112

Praise the Lord.

    Blessed are those who fear the Lord,
    who find great delight in his commands.

Their children will be mighty in the land;
    the generation of the upright will be blessed.
Wealth and riches are in their houses,
    and their righteousness endures forever.
Even in darkness light dawns for the upright,
    for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous.
Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely,
    who conduct their affairs with justice.

Surely the righteous will never be shaken;
    they will be remembered forever.
They will have no fear of bad news;
    their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear;
    in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.
They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor,
    their righteousness endures forever;
    their horn will be lifted high in honor.

10 The wicked will see and be vexed,
    they will gnash their teeth and waste away;
    the longings of the wicked will come to nothing.

  2. Just a little update on Cyrus: he is progressing slowly but steadily now. Last week (I think it was last week) the lung specialist showed me his xrays and was visibly aggitated. He said he didn’t see how C could ever get off the vent (he is not the first dr to tell me this). But now the dr is so excited about the progress C is making he excitedly declared “if God wills it, you can live a long life!”

    I believe we will get there. God in his mercy is answering our prayers. It’s still going to take more time, lots of work, and of course, prayer. Thank you all so much for you continued prayers.

    Still Trusting Him

  3. Please pray for wisdom and calm for Nightingale. As I’ve mentioned recently, Boy has been grounded. Then he messed up and had time added to his grounding. Now Nightingale thinks he has done it again, and is angry, and ready to add even more time to his grounding.

    Boy’s “story” sounds plausible to me, but Nightingale’s reasons for not believing him sound reasonable, too. As a “softie grandmother”, I want to believe him, and don’t want to see her come down too hard on him (hard enough but not too hard). But I also realize that he could be pulling the wool over my eyes.

    My exchanges with Nightingale over all of this have been via text as she is at work. After going back and forth, relaying her words to him and his to her, I suggested that she give him a pass this time, since I really am not sure that he is guilty, with the understanding that another incident would not be ignored. (Especially since his grounding is already pretty long.) But she is convinced that he is lying and she is loaded for bear. 😦

    So, as I said as I began this, please pray for wisdom and calm for Nightingale. Also, please pray that if Boy is lying, he will come clean with her.

    Seeing the tensions in their relationship is hard for me. Nightingale is often a tough mother, and sometimes I think too tough at times. Boy can get frustrated with her, but he often brings that on himself I realize. I fear that his teenage years are going to be difficult for the two of them. 😦

  4. Prayers for him, her, and you, Kizzie. It sounds quite complicated. May God let the truth be revealed and may the appropriate discipline be administered. May parent and child both count this as a learning lesson not to have to be repeated. And may God make a way for you to not get caught in the middle. It’s certainly a good opportunity to discuss trust and how easily it is lost and how hard it is to earn it back.

  5. Boy admitted that part of what he said was not true, but part was true, which Nightingale realized. I didn’t hear any yelling, so I guess they took care of the conversation calmly. When next I saw them, Nightingale was happily modeling her new bathing suit for me, and Boy had on the semi-matching swim outfit she’d bought for him, and they both were fine. Thanks for your prayers.
