  1. https://www.theepochtimes.com/mkt_morningbrief/washington-governor-signs-bill-mandating-critical-race-training-in-public-schools_3808484.html

“Washington Gov. Jay Inslee has signed into law a bill that incorporates the doctrine of “equity, cultural competency, and dismantling institutional racism” into the training for all K–12 educators across the state.

Under Senate Bill 5044 (pdf)—which passed the state legislature in April—school districts in Washington must use one of three professional learning days to specifically train all staff in the topics of “cultural competency, diversity, equity, or inclusion.”

Those topics were among several listed in the bill’s text: “The legislature plans to continue the important work of dismantling institutional racism in public schools and recognizes the importance of increasing equity, diversity, inclusion, antiracism, and cultural competency training throughout the entire public school system by providing training programs for classified staff, certificated instructional staff, certificated administrative staff, superintendents, and school directors that will be provided in an ongoing manner.”

Proponents of the bill, according to a state Senate report (pdf), said it would help educators better support those who are “immigrants and students of color” and that it would make students “feel safe, heard, and understood.” But opponents have called it a “divisive” and “dangerous” bill based on critical race theory (CRT), through which students would be taught to “judge others based on the color of their skin.””

“2 Catholic bishops at odds over Biden receiving Communion”

“They share Roman Catholicism as a faith and California as their home base. Yet there’s a deep gulf between Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco and Bishop Robert McElroy of San Diego in the high-stakes debate over whether politicians who support abortion rights should be denied Communion.

Cordileone, who has long established himself as a forceful anti-abortion campaigner, recently has made clear his view that such political figures — whose ranks include President Joe Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi — should not receive Communion because of their stance on the issue. The archbishop issued a pastoral letter on the topic May 1 and reinforced the message in an hourlong interview Friday with the Catholic television network EWTN.

“To those who are advocating for abortion, I would say, ‘This is killing. Please stop the killing. You’re in position to do something about it,’” he told the interviewer.

In neither the letter nor the interview did Cordileone mention Pelosi, who represents San Francisco, by name. But he has criticized her in the past for stances on abortion that directly contradict Catholic teaching.

McElroy, in a statement published Wednesday by the Jesuit magazine America, assailed the campaign to exclude Biden and other like-minded Catholic officials from Communion.

“It will bring tremendously destructive consequences,” McElroy wrote. “The Eucharist is being weaponized and deployed as a tool in political warfare. This must not happen.”

The polarized viewpoints of the two prelates illustrate how divisive this issue could be if, as expected, it comes before the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops at its national assembly starting June 16. There are plans for the bishops to vote on whether the USCCB’s Committee on Doctrine should draft a document saying Biden and other Catholic public figures with similar views on abortion should refrain from Communion.

In accordance with existing USCCB policy, any such document is likely to leave decisions on withholding Communion up to individual bishops.”

  5. “Explosive New Info on Hunter Biden and His Chinese Dealings”

That the media will continue to ignore…..

    https://redstate.com/nick-arama/2021/05/08/explosive-new-info-on-hunter-biden-and-his-chinese-dealings-n376730

“The Daily Mail has dropped an explosive story that addresses more intriguing information from Hunter Biden’s laptop.

The Mail reports that on the laptop were emails and pictures of a Chinese-American secretary which offered some insight his relationship with Patrick Ho and the Chinese.

There’s a ton to unpack in the story.

In 2017, Hunter went into business with Patrick Ho, launching a joint venture Hudson West III with the Chinese conglomerate CEFC, of which Ho was the Secretary General. Jim Biden, Joe Biden’s brother, was also involved in the venture.

The problem with that? I rarely cite CNN, but they have a good description of the nature of the company and its importance to China’s agenda:

Chinese energy giant that had so tightly aligned itself with President Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road policy that it was often hard to distinguish between the two.

Plus then there’s the small fact that the U.S. was surveilling Ho as a potential foreign intelligence threat, as the Daily Mail observes. Ho was later convicted and sentenced to three years in a multimillion-dollar scheme to bribe African leaders through contacts made at the United Nations, CNN reports.

The venture with the Bidens collapsed in November 2018, after Ho was arrested in November 2017 and then later convicted.

But obviously, the connection with Hunter Biden raises huge questions given the nature of CEFC and Ho’s activities, and their interest in the drug-addicted Hunter.

According to the Daily Mail, Hunter even describes Ho in a recording on the laptop as the “spy chief of China.” If that wasn’t concerning enough, after creating the joint venture, Hunter was then assigned a 29-year-old Chinese-American assistant, JiaQi Bao. Shades of Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) and Fang Feng. She acted as a go-between with his Chinese partners.

Now, while the Mail states what the relationship actually was between Bao and Biden wasn’t clear, it is clear that she was sending him flirty messages and encouraging him to take money from the joint venture’s accounts.

But mysteriously, the young assistant also sent him opposition research to help Joe Biden’s 2020 election bid, urged him to take cash from the joint venture’s accounts as the business collapsed and wrote flirty and personal messages and even ended up with Hunter’s military dog tags in her New York apartment – the same tags he can be seen wearing in home-made porn videos he recorded on his laptop.

Here’s a fascinating part of one of the emails dealing with what to do before the venture dissolved in 2018. Bao encourages Hunter to “keep as much money as you can” — the header of a section of the email.”

“‘Your doggy chain necklace is waiting for you.’ Flirty messages from Hunter Biden’s Chinese-American secretary, 29, who worked for him when he partnered with the ‘spy chief of China’ are revealed”

“DailyMail.com can reveal messages between Hunter Biden and young Chinese-American woman who worked in his business venture with Patrick Ho
In an audio recording, Hunter described Ho to a friend as the ‘spy chief of China’
The young secretary, JiaQi Bao, worked for Hunter during his partnership with Chinese oil giant CEFC in a multi-million-dollar deal
Bao, then age 29, scheduled flights, hotels and doctor’s appointments for him
She sent him opposition research to help Joe Biden’s 2020 election bid and wrote flirty and personal messages and ended up with his military dog tags
She also encouraged him to draw from the company’s accounts before they was shut down
Hunter and Joe Biden’s brother Jim partnered with CEFC in 2017, in a deal that was meant to generate billions of dollars
But the joint venture collapsed the following year when CEFC’s secretary general Ho was arrested and convicted of bribery in a US federal prosecution
It’s unclear whether Bao was aware of CEFC bosses alleged links with intelligence services at the time and she has not responded to requests for comment”

  7. Wayne Allyn Root gets it.

    https://townhall.com/columnists/wayneallynroot/2021/05/09/heres-how-you-know-democrats-rigged-and-stole-the-2020-election-n2589148

“Let me put this in terms even Democrats can understand.

Let’s say a white police officer killed a black man who did nothing wrong. Unlike George Floyd, this man had not committed any crime, did not resist arrest, didn’t have fentanyl in his system and had no record of violent crime. Assume this poor guy was a law-abiding, taxpaying, churchgoing American and that the cop killed him for the crime of “driving while black.”

How do the police react? They say the shooting was righteous. They refuse to investigate. There is bodycam footage, but they refuse to release it. And get this: They refuse to allow anyone to even talk about it. If any cop talks about it, he loses his job. If anyone in the black community talks about it, social media will suspend them or ban them for life.

What would all of that mean to you? Guilty as charged, right? The police must be covering up a crime. No one who’s innocent acts like that, right?

Guess what? That’s equivalent to the reaction (or, should I say, overreaction) of liberals, Democrats and assorted socialists and communists when Republicans make accusations of massive voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

I thought we’re all allowed to have our opinion in America. I thought we have free speech. I thought we have a right to investigate. I thought we have a right to see the videotapes. I thought we have a right to forensic audits.

    I was wrong.

The fix is in. It’s crystal clear to me now that not only was the election rigged but so is everything post-election. It’s simple psychology. Just look at the absurd reaction, or overreaction, by Democrats.

Would anyone dare ban the right to discuss a possibly racist police killing? Can you imagine the reaction by liberals, black activists and the American Civil Liberties Union? What if the Minneapolis police were to permanently ban any discussion of George Floyd’s death? What if every black American trying to give his or her opinion on Twitter, Facebook or YouTube were banned for life?

Who would react like that? Only guilty people.

Here are the questions I want answered.
    — If Democrats didn’t rig and steal the election, why are they so afraid of forensic audits in key battleground states, specifically the current audit in Arizona?
    — When Trump was an 8-to-1 landslide favorite with bettors around the world late on election night and clearly headed toward a landslide electoral victory, why did five states suddenly announce they would pause counting for the night? And how come Biden was suddenly ahead by morning?
    — How come Michigan apparently had a dump of 149,772 votes at 6:31 a.m. on Nov. 4, 96% of which went to Biden?
    — How did Wisconsin count 149,520 votes for Biden from 3:26 to 3:44 a.m. on Nov. 4?
    — How come Philadelphia vote counters were so desperate to keep witnesses out of the counting room? Why did they refuse entry to witnesses (to Republicans) until those witnesses had a court order in hand?
    — Why were the windows in a vote-counting location in Detroit covered with cardboard so nobody (no Republican) could see inside?
    — There are videotapes filmed in Detroit of vans pulling up in the middle of the night with what obviously look like boxes of ballots. In Atlanta, there are videotapes that clearly show ballot containers appearing at a vote-counting location after a fake water main break was used to force all GOP witnesses out of the counting room. Why can’t we discuss these videotapes?
    — How come Twitter banned me for life over mentioning these videotapes?
    — How come the Arizona Senate’s liaison for the vote audit says Maricopa County hasn’t complied with the subpoena by turning over passwords to Dominion voting machines?
    — How come the Biden DOJ suddenly wants to stop the Arizona audit?”

  8. Further evidence, not that any should be needed at this point.

“Report: Chinese People’s Liberation Army 2015 Dossier On Bio-Warfare Plans Included Coronaviruses

A document obtained by The Australian, titled “The Unnatural Origin of SARS and New Species of Man-Made Viruses as Genetic Bioweapons,” predicted that World War III would be fought with biological weapons.”

    https://legalinsurrection.com/2021/05/report-chinese-peoples-liberation-army-2015-dossier-on-bio-warfare-plans-including-coronaviruses/

“Reports are now surfacing a 2015 dossier prepared by China’s Peoples Liberation Army in 2015 included plans for a Third World War fought with biological and genetic weapons including coronavirus. The UK Daily Mail reports on the document first reported on by The Australian:

The bombshell paper, accessed by the US State Department, insists they will be ‘the core weapon for victory’ in such a conflict, even outlining the perfect conditions to release a bioweapon, and documenting the impact it would have on ‘the enemy’s medical system’.

This latest evidence that Beijing considered the military potential of SARS coronaviruses from as early as 2015 has also raised fresh fears over the cause of Covid-19, with some officials still believing the virus could have escaped from a Chinese lab.

The dossier by People’s Liberation Army scientists and health officials, details of which were reported in The Australian, examined the manipulation of diseases to make weapons ‘in a way never seen before’.

Senior government figures say it ‘raises major concerns’ over the intentions of those close to Chinese President Xi Jinping amid growing fears about the country’s lack of regulation over its activity in laboratories.

The details of the dossier are disturbing, indeed.

Titled The Unnatural Origin of SARS and New Species of Man-Made Viruses as Genetic Bioweapons, the paper predicted that World War Three would be fought with biological weapons.

Released five years before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, it describes SARS coronaviruses as a “new era of genetic weapons” that can be “artificially manipulated into an emerging human disease virus, then weaponised and unleashed in a way never seen before”.

Peter Jennings, the executive director of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI), told news.com.au that the document is as close to a “smoking gun” as we’ve got.

“I think this is significant because it clearly shows that Chinese scientists were thinking about military application for different strains of the coronavirus and thinking about how it could be deployed,” said Mr Jennings.

“It begins to firm up the possibility that what we have here is the accidental release of a pathogen for military use,” added Mr Jennings.”

I wonder how long it will take them to realize what the problem is here, especially since the WH seems to be determined to ignore it.

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets/stay-at-home-americans-sow-white-house-angst-on-big-jobs-miss/ar-BB1gvB5y?ocid=uxbndlbing

“Portia Roberson says it’s “disheartening.” Employers in Michigan are calling her social services group looking for recruits to fill job openings. But, she adds, federal assistance payments are contributing to depress demand for those opportunities.

“There are some people who are quite honestly, right now at least, with the stimulus package,” preferring to stay at home, Roberson, head of Detroit-based Focus: HOPE, said in an interview. “I think that that will shift when some of that money begins to run out more,” said Roberson, who worked at the Justice Department during the Obama administration.

She spoke on the eve of Friday’s U.S. monthly employment report, which showed a shockingly low gain in payrolls for April. Republicans quickly blamed President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion March stimulus package for effectively encouraging Americans without jobs to hold off on looking for work.

That bill provides $300 extra a week in unemployment insurance, sustaining a benefit that won bipartisan backing in December. For anyone who used to make under $32,000 a year, it’s better financially for now to receive unemployment benefits, according to Bank of America calculations. The jobless bonus runs out in early September.

The administration went into overdrive to counter the GOP narrative, with Biden speaking directly to it in televised remarks from the White House, and officials fanning out across the media — in some instances reaching out themselves.

“It is not in the data — it is in the anecdote,” White House economist Jared Bernstein said in an interview about claims of generous benefits persuading people to hold back from getting jobs.

The country added just 266,000 jobs in April, more than 700,000 fewer than the consensus prediction of economists. Biden said the enhanced benefits didn’t have a “measurable” effect on the April numbers, and pointed out that there was an increase in job seekers last month.

Former Treasury Secretary and Obama administration economic director Lawrence Summers disagreed.

“Respectfully, I think it is close to self-evident that the fact that people are being paid more to stay at home than they would be to work — in millions of cases — is reducing the available supply of labor,” Summers said in an interview with Bloomberg TV, for whom he is a paid contributor.”

  10. Ezra Levant is never a good source for Canadian news.

The right wing populists who run Alberta and Ontario were extremely reluctant to impose restrictions and follow health expert advice (paid sick days, closing job sites with outbreaks, etc) Their concern was the economy. Even when both impose lock downs, they still favor an open economy. In Ontario, the restrictions are similar to Alberta — churches, mosques, temples, etc are all open under minimal attendance — ie 10-25% capacity. Some choose to remain close other follow restrictions. In Ontario and Alberta there are one or two churches who wont’ follow the rules. But its not a lockdown — they’re still building condos all over my neighbourhood and I just walked by the filming of the new season of Umbrella Academy. Kenney and Ford both feel the economy is more important than public health. Religious services are just an inconvenience to the economy.

Levant is wrong in that the NHL is playing to empty arenas — no fans allowed. Costco is only allowed to sell essential items with limited customers at a time. Almost all places of worship follow the rules — the mosque on my street books prayer times on the internet so everyone has their turn in a limited group — even during Ramadan where normally they gather every night and Friday afternoon the place is overflowing, the parking lot is never more than 25% occupied.

Are the police and the conservative gov’ts fascists?? As a guy who can’t tolerate both premiers and supports the defund police movement, I’d love to say yes but their actions with two or three churches isn’t fascism. Legal process is still being followed.

  11. Comparing media ignoring the “stop the steal” to a man murdered by police in plain view and on video is ludicrous. Only in a world where the cult of victimhood is so entrenched could this be possible.

Those making these allegations have been given a platform on FOX, OAN, and countless right wing blogs. They made countless legal submissions to federal courts. At every stage they were given a chance to give evidence and they never did only allegations, coincidences, and what aboutisms. For months the right wing media and the courts indulged them but they ran out of courts and even FOX. OAN moved. These alleged victims of a crime equalled in magnitude of a public murder were actually heard and were given legal process. However, they have mistaken the idea of hearing and agreeing. For them they are victims of injustice and censorship because, despite court cases and media, people just didn’t agree with them. You’re not a victim just because people don’t believe you.

The so called Arizona audit is a farce; a private firm hires a select group of people, limits reporter access, breaks the simplest rules (allows blue/black pens near the ballots) and has security breaches (reporters walked in through the back door of the arena). No one should take this seriously.

  12. So is unemployment going up or is there unfilled vacancies?? I’m hearing contradictory news. Perhaps unfilled vacancies is an indicator the supply/demand price mechanism is not working. If you can’t find employees perhaps its time to be a better employer — better wages and benefits; just treat your employees better. Meatpacking plants paying 15$ an hour shouldn’t expect people knocking on their door.

And before you fault an extra 300$ of gov’t money, you need to wonder if thats all an employer needs to do, what is the problem? If your business model depends on poverty wages perhaps you need a new business model.

“Of people ages 17 to 24, almost 71%, or 24 million out of 34 million, are ineligible to join the military because of obesity, lack of high school diploma, or a criminal record, according to Pentagon data. That means the remaining age cohort is the prime attraction for all recruiting from not just the military, but also colleges and employers.”

I found the above interesting. In WWII, both British and US recruiters encountered recruits who were illiterate and/or malnourished. Some historians have cited this as a factor for increased social spending in post-war UK/US as the armed forces needed a better quality recruit for the Cold War. I wonder if the above will push the Pentagon to demand more US social spending.
