Psalm 70

1 Hasten, O God, to save me;
    come quickly, Lord, to help me.

2 May those who want to take my life
    be put to shame and confusion;
   may all who desire my ruin
    be turned back in disgrace.
3 May those who say to me, “Aha! Aha!”
    turn back because of their shame.
4 But may all who seek you
    rejoice and be glad in you;
   may those who long for your saving help always say,
    “The Lord is great!”

5 But as for me, I am poor and needy;
    come quickly to me, O God.
   You are my help and my deliverer;
    Lord, do not delay.

  1. Prayers for a situation with a piano family that has caused some prior trouble both with me and with the studio. The co-owners and I are facing another possible challenge with this family this afternoon. Please pray for things to go smoothly, and for clear heads to prevail, no matter what happens. Thank you.

  3. A young woman at our church, D, has MS. She had her second Pfizer COVID vaccine yesterday and went into great distress. Tests have shown it did NOT throw off blood clots, but she has an esophageal infection, and the MS is going wild in reaction to the vaccine.

    She’s home after an ER trip; was able to get an appointment today with a specialist. This poor family has been through the wringer over the last two years and their home goes on the market next week for a move to family in Orange County.

    We’re going to miss them all, but D’s health recovery and safety is the prayer request today.

  5. Asking for prayer for sort of an outlaw in Michelle’s sense of the word. She had cancer in one eye and had radiation seeds put into her eye. She has a rare glaucoma in the other eye and may lose it. The doctor is recommending it being removed. She has really been through the mill with these issues, to say the least. Her biggest need is for the Lord, however. Please ask God to open her spiritual eyes as well as for physical healing.

  7. Praying for Six for the conflict to be resolved successfully, for Michelle’s D with MS and the covid reaction, and for Kathaleena’s ‘outlaw’ with eye issues. There is no doubt that these are all stressful paths to walk, but we can know growth in overcoming them through Jesus.

    Update is GOOD today! C seems to have turned a corner. His breathing machine, which has been running at maximum 100% for almost 2 weeks has been turned down to 50%! And his body is holding up well! No one is mentioning dates yet, but the conversations are now turning toward rehab facilities and how long he might need to be there. This is a huge relief and answer to prayer. It’s not over yet, but I will always remember the Lord’s kindness and mercy throughout this terrifying period, and the great value of his people who pray.

    Even N seems more hopeful in his situation and may be feeling a turning point. Certainly his heart seems to have been strengthened. He says thank you for the prayers, and he believes victory is on the way. I still have a txt message out to him inquiring after his wife and daughters, and I am not sure if they have allowed him to go home yet. Due to underlying conditions, this could have been so much worse for him, but it seems at this point that he has been spared as well. I saw that he posted a short message, mostly in Tagalog; he referenced John 9:3 and Eccl. 11:9-10, urging, in broken English, not to neglect so great a salvation. He is a gentle, soft-spoken man, full of worship for the Lord. Perhaps his is a testimony for such a time as this. Still praying for him and his family.

  9. Thankful for the good report Debra…I was awakened in the middle of the night praying for many including C and N…isn’t it an amazing wonder how our Heavenly Father works in our lives? Sometimes I am just in awe of His wonder
    Praying for the above requests as well…as I talk with our Lord I cannot help but to be hopeful…He gives us strength when we feel oh so weak… ♥️

  10. So thankful for the Lord’s goodness in always hearing our prayers and working diligently to bring a good solution for healing or other needs. Thanking Him for caring about all the cares we place before Him. May He receive glory and praise for His wonderous answers.

  13. NancyJill, I’m grateful you were prompted to pray for us in the middle of the night. I spent most of the night thrashing around the bed like I was fighting a battle. I woke up suddenly in the a.m. tightly clutching my cell phone. No idea how that happened. It may have something to do with the steroids they’ve had me on for inflammation. Glad to get rid of those. :–)

  14. Yes, those steroids can really affect sleep patterns. When I was put on them in West Africa in an effort to get my asthma under control, I couldn’t sleep, just laid awake trying to breathe – had to be given a sedative just so I could rest.

  15. Debra, praising and thanking God for that good report with C! You both continue in my prayers, and N and family, as well.

    Also praying for Michelle’s and Kathaleena’s requests.

    I am very grateful for your prayers today. One of the two potential challenges we anticipated with the piano family definitely materialized (the part involving the studio, not the part involving me). The problem, though, was that the parent was trying to argue with me about studio policies I don’t set. I told him I would have the owners contact him, and then walked away. It wasn’t as simple as that sounds, though — there’s more to the story, including, of all ridiculous things, ants planted in one of the boys’ backpacks with his piano books and assignment sheets, because of a revenge-seeking brother who lost at Minecraft or something. So we marched out to the parking lot, where dad was waiting in the car, to get the ant-infested backpack, which also contained a hideously squished and moldy banana, out of the studio so we could have an ant-free lesson with borrowed studio books instead of the ones with ants crawling out of the pages.

    I’ll spare you any more details. Mistakes were made in the midst of the ant chaos (you can’t make this stuff up), and it all went downhill from there.

    Some day I’ll laugh at the ant business, but right now the dad is being extremely uncooperative with studio policies, and it’s a little scary, truthfully. I am thankful that the owners are very conscientious about backing up their teachers when there is trouble. This would be a real nightmare for me if it was happening with one of the families of students I teach in my home.

    Thank you for praying. It brought what could have been an unmitigated disaster down to a semi-disaster of an encounter. I hope for safe closure in the end, and would appreciate continued prayers on that.
