Psalm 16
1 Keep me safe, my God,
for in you I take refuge.
2 I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
apart from you I have no good thing.”
3 I say of the holy people who are in the land,
“They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.”
4 Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more.
I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods
or take up their names on my lips.
5 Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup;
you make my lot secure.
6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
surely I have a delightful inheritance.
7 I will praise the Lord, who counsels me;
even at night my heart instructs me.
8 I keep my eyes always on the Lord.
With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
my body also will rest secure,
10 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,
nor will you let your faithful one see decay.
11 You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

Add my prayers for our dear friend, Chas, as he adjusts and settles into Jesus’ all- encompassing love and the Holy Spirit’s comfort and peace in even this most difficult and challenging time.

Prayer for the tiny church. My mother talked to one of the deacon’s wives today, and the situation which I have been concerned about, they are also concerned about. This deacon has had to reprove a certain in-law for airing his unnecessary opinions from the pulpit while leading the worship service – this in-law told the congregation they could not get the vaccine (something the sibling married to this in-law also tried telling my parents). This deacon and his wife only recently stepped forward to help lead, after years of faithful attendance, because they had been badly burned by the church under previous (before our time) abusive leadership. Now, they are having to oppose a relative of ours – they insisted on following the guidance for services from public health, including wearing masks, causing our relatives, although they live in the church building, to stop attending temporarily. They had been previously reluctant to mention this all to us, fearful of causing a split in our family – I think it was a relief for them to know we were aware of and concerned with our relations opinions. There is souch spiritual danger I see ahead, both for the church and our relatives. They still have no pastor.

Prayers for your concerns, Roscuro. And also for all churches that are suffering through the fallout from Covid and in some cases suffering from racial tensions ignited and thought to somehow be reconcilable by money or retribution in worldly ways.
