Prayer Requests 1-7-21

It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her former students, and the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Psalm 129

A song of ascents.

“They have greatly oppressed me from my youth,”
    let Israel say;
“they have greatly oppressed me from my youth,
    but they have not gained the victory over me.
Plowmen have plowed my back
    and made their furrows long.
But the Lord is righteous;
    he has cut me free from the cords of the wicked.”

May all who hate Zion
    be turned back in shame.
May they be like grass on the roof,
    which withers before it can grow;
a reaper cannot fill his hands with it,
    nor one who gathers fill his arms.
May those who pass by not say to them,
    “The blessing of the Lord be on you;
    we bless you in the name of the Lord.”

  1. A retired nurse local church friend asked us last week to pray for her step-mother in Idaho, who had COVID and was refusing to go to the hospital because she didn’t want to die alone.

    They convinced her to go, where she ended up in COVID ICU with little hope. She begged to be released to hospice at home.

    Somehow, and I don’t understand how but I do understand why, they sent her home to die in her 86-year-old husband’s arms. Hospice, apparently, was standing by.

    That was three days ago.

    No surprise, Stan is now seriously ill with COVID.

    I find this peculiar, but my friend is a reliable source and is now asking for prayer for her dad. I don’t think anyone expects him to live. They’re all believers.

    My local friend is devastated, but carrying it–and I’m crying with her.

    Thanks.
