Peter’s Pack of Pickled Pigskin Picks 2020- Week 16
It’s here. The final week of College Football 2020, except for the playoffs and other bowl games (if any). The main ten games are all conference championships. The extras are make up games being played for the money or prestige. One of them involves a Top 5 team, which could end up meaning something. Make sure you pick those, as there may be a Christmas bonus for correct guesses. You know, the extra credit we teachers sometimes offer at the end of a term.
Speaking of bonuses, I added color to the choices. Those are the team colors (or at least one of them). In the past some people admitted to choosing based on the colors, so I’m saving those a few seconds of time.
AJ’s note- the colors didn’t transfer when I copied and pasted it. Sorry.
Whatever you do, make your entries by Friday, Dec. 18, 2020, @ 7:30 EST, as that’s when the fun begins!
Conference Playoff Week (and a few make-up games just in case)
1. B1G Ten: #14 Northwestern vs #4 Ohio State
2. Big 12: #10 Oklahoma vs #6 Iowa State
3. Sun Belt: #19 Louisiana vs #12 Coastal Carolina
4. Mountain West: Boise State vs San José State
5. Pac 12: Oregon vs USC
6. SEC: #1 Alabama vs Florida
7. American Athletic: #23 Tulsa vs #9 Cincinnati
8. Conference USA: UAB vs Marshall
9. MAC: Ball State vs Buffalo
10. Tie Breaker (pick winner and final score)- ACC: #3 Clemson vs #2 Notre Dame
Just in case games (you never know this year) Air Force @ Army; #5 Texas A&M @ Tennessee;
Nebraska @ Rutgers (Nebraska needs the morale boost)
I had a hard time with this. Janice and I tied on both the total correct and on the tiebreaker, which was Clemson 34 to Notre Dame 10. We were both 17 points off the result. My guess of 24 was for Clemson was closer than her 21. So in that respect I could claim the win. When I add in the three extra games, I have one more than she does. So I could claim the win that way. Since one of the ten conference championships was cancelled, I add one of the extra games, which gives a 3 way tie with Chas, who also picked Clemson to win, but was way off on the score. But with only the 9 remaining conference championships, Chas has one more than Janice and I.
So, in order not to be accused of hogging all the rights, and in honor of the elder among us, I proclaim Chas the winner.
Here are the results (with the extra games in parentheses)
Chas 6 (0)
Peter 5 (3)
Janice 5 (2)
Mumsee 3 (2)
AJ 3 (1)
