Prayer Requests 10-8-20

It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her former students, and the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Psalm 61

Hear my cry, O God;
    listen to my prayer.

From the ends of the earth I call to you,
    I call as my heart grows faint;
    lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
For you have been my refuge,
    a strong tower against the foe.

I long to dwell in your tent forever
    and take refuge in the shelter of your wings.
For you, God, have heard my vows;
    you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name.

Increase the days of the king’s life,
    his years for many generations.
May he be enthroned in God’s presence forever;
    appoint your love and faithfulness to protect him.

Then I will ever sing in praise of your name
    and fulfill my vows day after day.

  1. Wisdom as two of my grandchildren posted something on instagram insulting Pence. I want to send a private text saying please do not insult a godly man. You don’t have to agree with him.
    Are grandmas allowed to do that or will it just make my daughter mad?

  2. Jo, agree with Roscuro. However, should it ever arise that you have physical time with them, might be appropriate to ask them about it. Seeking their view.

  3. Follow-up to yesterday’s prayer requests I made:

    Hubby is doing fine. His loud sighing was more of a developing bad habit than anything. He seemed to really understand my concerns about how bad things sounded when he was inadvertently making such a racket at times. He gave my hand an affectionate squeeze last night when we talked about it, and today kept calm before leaving for work.

    Also, my patience level has been good for our homeschool studies today. Thank you for praying. It was one of those days yesterday where I needed extra prayer support, and am thankful I got it from you fine folks here. God heard and answered; praise be to God!

  4. Jo, I don’t think it should go unaddressed, just not on social media. Asking her thoughts and what the Bible has to say about speaking of others, whether we like them or not.

  5. Jo – To what Mumsee wrote, I would add that maybe you should not mention your feelings about Pence (being a godly man), but make it a general statement that we should not be insulting to anyone.

  6. Jo, along the line of what Kizzie said, I don’t think his being a godly man is really the issue. We are supposed to respect those in authority, including those who are not at all godly (like Trump). That doesn’t mean we never say they are wrong, but that we respect them. And ultimately we respect all human beings, even those who aren’t in authority, because they are made in the image of God. I have to remember that when I walk by homeless people who may be mentally ill or drug users or who knows what–that person is made in the image of God, even if it is rather “defaced” in him.

  7. Jo, it could be a good time to discuss how it is good to consider for a young person how what they post now may be later seen by someone like an employer trying to make hiring decisions. Will they hire the one who posts negative things about people when they realize the person might do that to them or the business. Also, The Golden Rule discussion fits, too.
