  1. I think it’s acerbated by the presence of Television, but the “rebellions” that are going on seem to have no specific purpose.
    i.e. What would satisfy them?
    Answer: Nothing.
e.g. The police killed a man in Minnesota. Let’s destroy Oregon. “That’l learn them.”

  2. These people are out of their minds.

So what is a cop supposed to do, wait to be stabbed, and then it’s OK to shoot? The guy was the aggressor, the cop ran away, he pursued with a knife and got shot.

So now the idiots are rioting.

“If the nation’s police officers walked off the job today, it would be hard to blame them. Sunday’s anti-cop riots in Lancaster, Penn., have made the current de facto rules of engagement clear: Officers may never defend themselves against lethal force if their attacker is a minority. They should simply accept being shot or stabbed as penance for their alleged racism.

In Lancaster, an officer responded to a domestic violence call at a residence where a man had stabbed four people last year. As the officer approached the house, a female escaped out the front door. A man — the suspect from the previous slashings — then emerged and ran at the officer, brandishing a knife over his head. The officer shot him, as the officer was by all appearances legally authorized to do, to stop the threat of deadly force. Twenty-seven-year-old Ricardo Munoz died from the officer’s gunfire.

The response from the “community,” after this summer of lethal cop hatred, was predictable. Rioters pelted Lancaster cops with bricks, glass bottles, and sharp projectiles ripped from road barricades. They smashed the windows of police cruisers, the downtown police precinct, the post office, cafés, and stores. They torched a dumpster dragged from another part of the city. They pulled street signs and bike racks out of sidewalks to use against the police.

Such anarchy, with its photogenic arson, is just the latest chapter in the violence that is now routinely directed at officers during ordinary law enforcement activities, as well as during riots.”

  3. Huh. I’ve been told repeatedly that this was not the case and that they were just a disorganized rag tag bunch of college kids. I guess they were wrong again.

    https://thepostmillennial.com/dhs-leaked-email-confirms-that-antifa-is-an-organized-group

“DHS leaked email confirms Antifa is an organized group”

“An internal email from the Department of Homeland Security leaked to CBS Catherine Herridge late Monday detailing that the violence in Portland was not “opportunistic,” but rather “organized”—confirming long-suspected details about the Antifa movement.

The email explains that Antifa is organized and runs contrary to reports in the mainstream media that Antifa was not responsible for anti-police violence, but an impromptu movement spurred on by anti-fascist sentiments held by most of the American public.

A recent article in the Washington Post by Mark Bray, author of Antifa: Anti-Fascist Handbook, attempted to dispel “myths” about Antifa, claims that the group is not an organization, but rather a “tradition of militant antifascism.” The article disputed claims that Antifa “masterminds violence at Black Lives Matter protests.”

In printed email documents attained by Herridge, the DHS’ Acting Under Secretary for Intelligence & Analysis Brian Murphy wrote to his colleagues on July 25 detailing his findings of Antifa in Portland.”

    https://justthenews.com/accountability/russia-and-ukraine-scandals/monamholdstate-dept-feared-burisma-paid-bribe-while

“State Department reported Burisma paid bribe while Hunter Biden served on board, memos show

State, DOJ officials reported to FBI concerns Ukraine gas firm made bribe to local prosecutors while under corruption investigation.”

“Just eight months after Vice President Joe Biden’s son Hunter joined the board of Burisma Holdings, U.S. officials in Kiev developed evidence that the Ukrainian gas company may have paid a $7 million bribe to the local prosecutors investigating the firm for corruption, according to interviews and State Department memos.

State officials believed the alleged bribe was paid between May and December 2014 and got confirmation from one prosecutor. They argued the bribe amounted to a “gross miscarriage of justice that undermined months of US assistance” to fight corruption in Ukraine, contemporaneous memos show.

The concerns were eventually reported to the FBI, although it is not clear whether the allegations were ever investigated more fully, according to current and former U.S. and Ukrainian government officials.

The anecdote, buried in five-year-old diplomatic files, provides a fresh illustration of the awkward, uncomfortable conflict of interest State officials perceived as they tried to fight pervasive corruption in Ukraine under Joe Biden’s leadership while the vice president’s son collected large payments as a board member for an energy firm widely viewed as corrupt.

The concerns first came to a head in January 2015, the memos show, about eight months after Hunter Biden was named to Burisma’s board and after two major corruption investigations — one in Ukraine and the other in Britain — were opened against the gas firm.

George Kent, then a State Department official newly sent to the U.S. embassy in Kiev to lead anti-corruption efforts, was concerned the bribery allegations surrounding Prosecutor General Vitaly Yarema were credible enough that he sought a meeting with one of Yarema’s deputies to demand action, according to State Department memos.

His concern was triggered when Yarema took action over the Christmas 2014 holidays to undercut both the British and Ukraine investigations of Burisma and its founder Mykola Zlochevsky, and the U.S. embassy received word a $7 million bribe had changed hands, State memos show.

The Feb. 3, 2015 meeting involved Kent, one of Yarema’s top deputies, Anatoliy Danylenko, as well as the DOJ’s liaison in Ukraine, Jeffrey Cole, memos show. It was arranged by Andrii Telizhenko, an English-speaking mid-level Ukrainian government official long trusted by the Obama administration in Kiev and Washington to facilitate contacts between the two countries.”

“With Mideast breakthroughs, Trump may actually deserve a Nobel Prize

Supporting allies, standing up to adversaries, Trump’s old-fashioned policy has advanced the cause of peace.”

“Obama loses, Biden loses, leftists lose, Trump haters lose, Trump wins, the Middle East wins, the United States wins, the world wins.

It is major, major, the accord reached between Israel and Bahrain following the accord with the United Arab Emirates. These are the first such alliances between Israel and Middle East countries in 20 years. Bahrain and the Emirates join Egypt and Jordan, and more countries are likely to come aboard, maybe even Saudi Arabia. Iran is further squeezed. Israeli survival and Middle East peace are more nearly assured. Economies will definitely be lifted. Jared Kushner should take a bow.

Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser, Kushner was said to be unqualified, just a politically manipulated nepotism exhibit. But he brought keen intellect and shrewdness to the negotiations. After several years of listening, pushing and beseeching, he began to get results. And, for weeks before the Emirates agreement, he bounced between its leader, Mohammed bin Zayed, and Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, with a major result. Netanyahu agreed to suspend Israel’s annexation of the West Bank, and Zayed said let’s get on with it, let’s join ranks, hurrah, hurrah.

All three of these countries had already been friends of a kind, worried like crazy about Iran and its hegemonic ambitions, but did Netanyahu want to give up the protection afforded by control of the West Bank and did Zayed want to shake hands with him otherwise? No. He did not want it to look as if he was going to let Israel be in charge of things generally, and the years ahead became worrisome for both when President Barack Obama dropped sanctions against Iran in a deal making its nuclear armament more likely. Our friendship with our ally Israel seemed slippery and one of the things Zayed wanted was to feel closer to the United States, it’s said.

Trump had ended the Iran deal and did something other presidents promised to no avail. He made Jerusalem the capital of Israel. He also had the guts to kill an Iranian terrorist in Iraq who had killed Americans. Trump left no doubt that we had Netanyahu’s back, and he let up on the annexation, and can you believe it? It helps to support your allies instead of endanger them. Bahrain has now joined up with Israel and the Emirates and others, no doubt thinking Israel and the good, old United States can help save them from Iranian domination.

The future’s not mine to know, but the possibility of the moment seems that there could be a path to a more settled Middle East, that Israel and friends will grow in strength while Iran and those bowing to its dictates shrivel. Iran, of course, is not through yet despite the ravages of reapplied sanctions and COVID-19. China lately said it would be a beneficent friend, no doubt looking for another toady and lots of oil in its planned mastery of the planet.”

  6. Good.

Now open our state up and lift your “only for political gain” restrictions.

    https://triblive.com/news/pennsylvania/federal-judge-rules-gov-wolfs-shutdown-orders-were-unconstitutional/

“Federal judge rules Gov. Wolf’s shutdown orders were unconstitutional”

“A federal judge in Pittsburgh on Monday ruled that orders issued by Gov. Tom Wolf restricting the size of gatherings and closing nonessential businesses to protect against the spread of covid-19 were unconstitutional.

In a statement, Wolf said his office will seek an immediate stay to halt the order and file an appeal.

U.S. District Judge William S. Stickman IV wrote in his 66-page opinion that, even though the actions taken in the spring by Wolf and Health Secretary Rachel Levine were laudable, they violated the First Amendment right to freedom of assembly, and the Due Process and Equal Protection clauses of the 14th Amendment.

“It’s a complete and total victory for the counties, the businesses and the representatives,” said attorney Thomas W. King III, who represented the plaintiffs in the case. “You can’t order the entire population of Pennsylvania to stay at home.”

President Trump, in a tweet celebrating the ruling, said: “Congratulations Pennsylvania. Now we await the decision on the Rigged Ballot Scam, which is so bad for our Country!” He went on to retweet more than 20 references to the story.

Lyndsay Kensinger, a spokeswoman for the governor, said they are disappointed in the decision.

“The actions taken by the administration were mirrored by governors across the country and saved, and continue to save, lives in the absence of federal action,” she said. “This decision is especially worrying as Pennsylvania and the rest of the country are likely to face a challenging time with the possible resurgence of covid-19 and the flu in the fall and winter.”

She noted Monday’s order does not apply to the mandatory mask order or the mandatory work-from-home order previously implemented and still in effect.

The plaintiffs in the case included seven businesses and their owners, U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, R-Butler, state Reps. Daryl Metcalfe, Marci Mustello and Tim Bonner, as well as Butler, Fayette, Greene and Washington counties. The businesses included three hair salons, an appliance store, a farm and two drive-in theaters.

The complaint was filed May 7, arguing that the governor’s orders — limiting the size of gatherings, the stay-at-home order and the closure of non-life-sustaining businesses — were unconstitutional.

After reviewing the record, Stickman said he “believes that defendants undertook their actions in a well-intentioned effort to protect Pennsylvanians from the virus. However, good intentions toward a laudable end are not alone enough to uphold governmental action against a constitutional challenge.”

Stickman, who was appointed to the bench in 2019, said “even a vigilant public may let down its guard over its constitutional liberties only to find that liberties, once relinquished, are hard to recoup and that restrictions — while expedient in the face of an emergency situation — may persist long after immediate danger has passed.”

King said the judge’s decision finding gathering limits to be unconstitutional now applies to everyone in Pennsylvania.

He said the finding that the stay-at-home order was unconstitutional means it can never be repeated.

As for the closure of nonessential businesses, King believes that will open the door to business owners filing lawsuits against the state seeking relief, or compensation, for their losses during the closure.”

    https://www.outkick.com/ohio-high-school-football-players-suspended-for-carrying-flags-on-9-11/

“Two football players on the Little Miami (OH) High School team have been suspended from the team after they defied school officials and carried a thin blue line and thin red line flags, supporting police and firefighters, onto the field before last Friday’s September 11 game.

Senior cornerback Brady Williams, whose father is a police officer, carried the thin blue line flag onto the field. “I was just doing it to honor the people that lost their lives 19 years ago,” Williams told WKRC.

The thin red line flag was carried by Jarad Bentley. His father is a firefighter. “I was all for it,” he told the Cincinnati TV station. “Because my dad is a firefighter, and if it had been him killed on 9/11, I would have wanted someone to do it for him.”

The two players asked school officials for permission to carry the flags, but they were denied. The players chose to defy the school authorities and the school responded by slapping them with an indefinite suspension.”

  9. I feel conflicted about those kids and their flags. On one hand, I think they should have been allowed to carry them, especially since they were not intended as a political statement (although the thin blue line one would probably be taken as political). But on the other hand, they asked and were denied permission, so the school has to follow through with some sort of discipline.

“We can’t have students who decide to do something anyway after they’ve been told that they shouldn’t be doing it,” Little Miami Superintendent Gregory Power told WKRC.”

An update on the article says that they have been reinstated to the team.

  10. The problem for the police is they have no credibility especially in minority communities. Police mgmt/unions and politicians have failed the beat cop. By failing to discipline police properly and reform police when and where needed they have destroyed public confidence in the police.

The DHS conveniently leaked a document on Antifa — this is supposed to be credible? Published and public documents from the FBI,DHS etc all suggest white supremacists and right wing militia are a far greater threat than antifa. And to suggest that because they use the same tactics, they are organized is a leap in logic or more likely faith. They have the same tactics and techniques because they read the same web pages.

Corruption in the Ukraine is not a news story. Any corporation doing business in the Ukraine participates in corruption. If a corporation didn’t participate in corruption that would be news.

Both Biden and Trump are mocked for their inarticulate speech — you can easily find a video of Trump’s greatest speaking errors. He can’t read off the teleprompter any word more than three syllables and sometimes even less. And frequently he will slur his words. The difference between the two is that Biden is fundamentally a nice guy who will delegate whereas Trump is a narcissist who enjoys power. And Trump will break the law just to reward his narcissism. He broke the indoor social distancing rules in Nevada. You may argue the rules are unnecessary but he did break the rule. When he did this in Tulsa, people got sick and died. We now know he understands the severity of Covid 19 yet he continues to put his supporters in peril to satisfy his need for an adoring audience.

  11. The recent developments in the Middle East are interesting. Recognition of Israel will bring some stability to the region. Turkey used to be Israel’s unrecognized ally in the region but Erdogan changed that — the Turkish military has stopped their long standing association with the Israeli military. The Israelis have long had a problem with Shia militants in southern Lebanon while the Gulf States have problems with Shia groups. With this mutual interests ( resisting Iran’s attempt to be the predominant regional power) , these states have for the last decade cooperated at a certain level. Convenient for Trump (and probably on purpose by both Israel and the Emirs) they have become more public about their friendship. My sense is Isreal and the Sunni Arabis would rather have Trump than Biden in the White House.

I’ve always viewed Obama’s treaty with Iran as accomplishing two things — limiting Iran’s nuclear weapons project and increasing friendship with Iran to provide a balance to US policy in the Middle East. Trump has committed the US not only to Israel but also to the Sunni powers in the Arabian peninsula. However is this in the US interests? What does the US gain by being on the side of Israel and the Sunni Gulf States. Whereas Iran’s objective is to be the regional power, the Wahhabi Saudi family has long involved itself in terrorism and involving themselves in the western Muslim community. From my porch I can see the King Faud education wing of the local mosque — Saudi money means Wahhabi imans not a more moderate voice. The Saudis and the Emirates are acting counter to US interests and quite frankly while Israel loves US money and support they will do what is in their national interest even if its at the expense of the US. Obama’s more balanced meant US interests were served as opposed to Saudi or Israeli interests.

  12. Breanna Taylor’s family settled their wrongful death suit for over 8.5 million and some police reforms. Essentially, Louisville taxpayers are footing the bill for incompetent police work.

Meanwhile accusations have been made of mass hysterectomies in a privately run ICE detention center. An ICE nurse has accused of a contracted doctor of performing unnecessary hysterectomies. So many, in fact, his nickname was the uterus collector. The class action suit will surely include the federal gov’t especially when the private detention will declare bankruptcy. Performing unnecessary sterilization esp on the basis of ethnicity, income, intelligence etc is considered a crime against humanity.

At what point do taxpayers get fed up for paying law enforcement incompetence?

“University of Pittsburgh scientists discover antibody that ‘neutralizes’ virus that causes COVID-19

Its component is 10 times smaller than a full-sized antibody”

“Scientists at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine have isolated “the smallest biological molecule” that “completely and specifically neutralizes” SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

The antibody component is 10 times smaller than a full-sized antibody, and has been used to create the drug Ab8, shared in the report published by the researchers in the journal Cell on Monday. The drug is seen as a potential preventative against SARS-CoV-2.

According to the report, the drug has been “highly effective in preventing and treating” the SARS-CoV-2 infections in mice and hamsters during tests. The drug also reportedly does not bind to human cells, which suggests it will not have negative side effects in people.

“Ab8 not only has potential as therapy for COVID-19, but it also could be used to keep people from getting SARS-CoV-2 infections,” said co-author John Mellors, chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Pitt and UPMC. “Antibodies of larger size have worked against other infectious diseases and have been well tolerated, giving us hope that it could be an effective treatment for patients with COVID-19 and for protection of those who have never had the infection and are not immune.””
