  1. The stifling of conservatives continues at Google.

“Former Google Engineer: Disappearance of Conservative Sites Might Have Exposed Blacklist

“It appears to have revealed the existence of another blacklist that disproportionately targets conservatives. The glitch is that sites on this blacklist disappeared from Google search results, but the existence of the list is very much by design.”

“On Tuesday morning, numerous conservative outlets, including Legal Insurrection, disappeared from Google search results.

During that time, the outlets appeared on searches on Bing, Yahoo, and DuckDuckGo.

The glitch hit Bongino Report, Breitbart, Drudge, Human Events, and Newsbusters. Chuck Ross at The Daily Caller noticed Google blocked his website. The Federalist mentioned the list included Washington Free Beacon, The Blaze, Townhall, and The Daily Wire.

It also hit Occupy Democrats, the only left-leaning website that disappeared.

    Google released statements:

In a jargon-filled statement, Google said it was looking into the issue, but failed to offer any explanation. “We are aware of an issue with the site: command that may fail to show some or any indexed pages from a website,” the company said in a post published on Twitter Tuesday afternoon. “We are investigating this and any potentially related issues.”

In response to an inquiry from Mediaite, a spokesman for Google added, “This issue affected a number of sites representing a range of different content and viewpoints. This issue was a technical error unrelated to the content or ideology of the sites affected.”

Mike Wacker, a former Google engineer, told Mediaite: “It appears to have revealed the existence of another blacklist that disproportionately targets conservatives. The glitch is that sites on this blacklist disappeared from Google search results, but the existence of the list is very much by design. And that raises a major question: Why was this blacklist created in the first place, and what else is it used for?””

“The “glitch” in this case may not have been something breaking, but something working too well. Wacker explains to Mediate that it appears these sites are already being penalized in search results, but subtly enough to escape notice. Somehow, Wacker theorizes, the penalties got ramped up too high and took them out of the results entirely — and the specific nature of the websites impacted make it more likely that they’re on some sort of list invoked by the momentary change yesterday.

If true, that might put Google’s CEO in a legal pickle:

Any manual manipulation would conflict with testimony Google CEO Sundar Pichai delivered to Congress in December 2018, when he told a House committee the company did not “manually intervene on any search result.”

Coincidentally or not, last week’s hack suggested that Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey might have the same legal liability. Both told Congress that they do not restrict access or impose censorship based on political views. If evidence emerges of interventions on that basis, they could face investigations of lying to Congress, which carries the same penalties as perjury in federal court.

At the very least, it might convince a Senate committee or two to begin new investigations into social media platforms. Those might get accompanied by the kinds of subpoenas that will settle these questions once and for all. And one has to wonder whether these incidents are coincidences at all, or are part of a campaign to expose manipulations by social-media platforms.”

“St. Louis prosecutor ordered crime lab to reassemble Patricia McCloskey’s gun

Assistant Circuit Attorney Chris Hinckley stated in charging documents that the gun was “readily capable of lethal use”

“The gun Patricia McCloskey waved at protesters was inoperable when it arrived at the St. Louis police crime lab, but a member of Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner’s staff ordered crime lab experts to disassemble and reassemble it and wrote that it was “readily capable of lethal use” in charging documents filed Monday, 5 On Your Side has learned.

In Missouri, police and prosecutors must prove that a weapon is “readily” capable of lethal use when it is used in the type of crime with which the McCloskeys have been charged.

Assistant Circuit Attorney Chris Hinckley ordered crime lab staff members to field strip the handgun and found it had been assembled incorrectly. Specifically, the firing pin spring was put in front of the firing pin, which was backward, and made the gun incapable of firing, according to documents obtained by 5 On Your Side.

Firearms experts then put the gun back together in the correct order and test-fired it, finding that it worked, according to the documents.

Crime lab workers photographed the disassembly and reassembly of the gun, according to the documents.

Patricia McCloskey and her husband, Mark McCloskey, have said the handgun Patricia McCloskey waved at protesters was inoperable because they had used it as a prop during a lawsuit they once filed against a gun manufacturer. In order to bring it into a courtroom, they made it inoperable.

Their attorney, Joel Schwartz, confirmed to 5 On Your Side that the McCloskeys intentionally misplaced the firing pin on the gun and that it was in that condition when Patricia McCloskey waved it at protesters and turned it into their former attorney Al Watkins.

“It’s disheartening to learn that a law enforcement agency altered evidence in order to prosecute an innocent member of the community,” Schwartz said.

A spokeswoman for Gardner wrote: “We can’t comment on a pending case.””

  4. Lay down with the rioting hordes, you get mistaken for one. Pick a better crowd to hang out with there Mr. Mayor. And get a hold of your city, or Trump will.

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/portland-mayor-warns-somebodys-going-080151090.html

“Mayor Ted Wheeler was tear-gassed by federal officers along with a large crowd of protesters late Wednesday night after he tried for hours to calm down angry activists demanding police reform from City Hall and calling for federal authorities to withdraw from this mostly liberal, mostly white city.

The mayor was caught in a chaotic display of violence and mayhem that began around 11:15 p.m., after some protesters threw flaming bags of garbage over a fence protecting the local federal courthouse, prompting the federal officers to fire tear gas at the crowd.

Wheeler had spent many hours in the thick of the protest, attempting to answer questions from the crowd, which booed and jeered as he tried to explain a lengthy process for making reforms. At one point, he acknowledged that he’s a “white, privileged male.”

    —–

“Before the crowd was tear-gassed, Wheeler huddled with local leaders of the Black Lives Matter social justice movement who demanded he move more quickly to reform the police department.

Some activists said they were worried the fight over federal agents was overshadowing their demands for local reforms, and vowed to keep the pressure on Wheeler and Portland city officials. One white mother pointed out that Wheeler only showed up to the protests after other white mothers attending the demonstrations over the weekend were tear-gassed.

“Enough is enough,” the crowd chanted. “Enough is enough.”

Thousands of protesters alternately booed and interrogated Wheeler after hundreds of mothers dubbed “the Wall of Moms” led a march downtown against police brutality. Many protesters also carried signs demanding the withdrawal of federal agents dispatched last week by President Donald Trump over the objection of Wheeler and other local officials.”

The same “wall of Moms” filmed rioting and busting stuff at the federal courthouse. Hopefully they got a big whiff too.

  6. Unemployment Claims Up Slightly, But Continuing Claims Dropped by 1.107 Million

    https://legalinsurrection.com/2020/07/unemployment-claims-up-slightly-but-continuing-claims-dropped-by-1-107-million/

“The unemployment claims last week went up slightly to 1.416 million.

However, continuing claims decreased. That means the unemployment went down a little bit to 11.1%. You need to remember that these numbers lag behind a week.

    From the Labor Department:

In the week ending July 18, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 1,416,000, an increase of 109,000 from the previous week’s revised level. The previous week’s level was revised up by 7,000 from 1,300,000 to 1,307,000. The 4-week moving average was 1,360,250, a decrease of 16,500 from the previous week’s revised average. The previous week’s average was revised up by 1,750 from 1,375,000 to 1,376,750.

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 11.1 percent for the week ending July 11, a decrease of 0.7 percentage point from the previous week’s revised rate. The previous week’s rate was revised down by 0.1 from 11.9 to 11.8 percent. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending July 11 was 16,197,000, a decrease of 1,107,000 from the previous week’s revised level. The previous week’s level was revised down by 34,000 from 17,338,000 to 17,304,000. The 4-week moving average was 17,505,250, a decrease of 758,500 from the previous week’s revised average. The previous week’s average was revised down by 8,500 from 18,272,250 to 18,263,750.

The new claim number is not a surprise. America has seen a rise in coronavirus cases so “states imposed new restrictions on businesses such as bars and restaurants when coronavirus cases rose.””

  8. The Democrat Party of PA continues it’s long list of corrupt leaders.

    https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/former-congressman-charged-ballot-stuffing-bribery-and-obstruction

“A former U.S. Congressman was charged Tuesday in an indictment unsealed today, with conspiring to violate voting rights by fraudulently stuffing the ballot boxes for specific candidates in the 2014, 2015, and 2016 primary elections, bribery of an election official, falsification of records, voting more than once in federal elections, and obstruction of justice.

Michael “Ozzie” Myers, 77, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is charged with conspiring with and bribing the former Judge of Elections for the 39th Ward, 36th Division, Domenick J. Demuro. Demuro, who pleaded guilty previously in federal court in Philadelphia, was responsible for overseeing the entire election process and all voter activities of his division in accord with federal and state election laws.

“Free and fair elections are the hallmark of our system of government,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Rabbitt of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division. “The Department of Justice has zero tolerance for corruption of the electoral process, and we will spare no effort in investigating and prosecuting those who would seek an unfair advantage at the polls by bribing state and local officials responsible for ensuring the fairness of our elections.”

“Voting is the cornerstone of our democracy. If only one vote has been illegally rung up or fraudulently stuffed into a ballot box, the integrity of that entire election is undermined,” said U.S. Attorney William M. McSwain of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. “Votes are not things to be purchased and democracy is not for sale. If you are a political consultant, election official, or work with the polling places in any way, I urge you to do your job honestly and faithfully. That is what the public deserves, it is what democracy demands, and it is what my office will enforce.””

“Seattle: ‘Massive’ Property Damage, Arson And Looting Last Night”

“A mob of about 150 people gathered near the former CHAZ/CHOP in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood and spent several hours last night smashing windows, setting fires and looting stores. The SPD police blotter has the full rundown:

The group roamed about the Capital Hill neighborhood, doing massive amounts of property damage, looting, shooting fireworks, and committing arson.

Individuals from the group broke the windows of a business in the 1400 block of East Olive Way and then started a fire inside. Seattle Fire was called to extinguish the fire.

The group then went to the 1500 Block of 11 Avenue, breaking more businesses’ windows along the way. Individuals then broke into a business, took merchandise, and put it in middle of the street where they lit it on fire.

The group went to Broadway and Madison, where individuals used baseball bats and pipes to break windows at a store. They threw fireworks into the store and then began looting.

The group headed to the area of Summit and Madison where they damaged property at two banks.

Here’s what some of that looked like. The East Precinct is the one that was at the center of CHAZ/CHOP.”

  10. Google operates on algorithms and they “decay” and need updates and patches. Basic maintenance no need for conspiracy theories. And yes the left has adherents of the same conspiracy type theories about Google, Facebook etc.

The McCloskeys are a walking ad for mandatory gun courses prior to purchase.

The argument for including aliens in redistricting is they contribute as much as other residents and should be included. Since the census doesn’t ask immigration or citizenship status, how is it determined what part of the population is illegal?

A 44 second video — don’t be silly. Not as incoherent as Trump or Biden though. And yes the boomers are getting old.

Rasmussen has a slight Republican tilt to it. Two other polls released yesterday put Biden ahead by seven — yes, Trump is recovering from rock bottom. Also poll results differ if respondents are given a “not sure” option or minor candidates to choose from. Interesting poll yesterday had Biden ahead by 1 in Texas yet the same poll had Sen Cornyn ahead by 7. I don’t think Biden will win Texas. In the end the large group “I don’t knows” will hold their nose and vote for both Cornyn and Trump.

  11. To be fair to the Mayor of Portland, there’s no indication he knew of the fires and for the most part he was talking about general situation — the presence of federal troops increased the tensions, the number of protesters and the actions of the protesters. I’m not even sure the interview took place before or after the incident in the next video.

As for the second video, the federal courthouse is not on fire — just the debris in front of it. Seriously the PumpkinFest Riots in Keene, NH had more property damage.

As for the Seattle video, the description prior to the video does not match the video. All I see is a bunch of teens/twenty somethings provoking the police and the police taking the bait. Its the back of the police station, a protester blocked the camera with his umbrella and the bicycle cops come. They don’t even form a proper bicycle line and instead are undisciplined. The protesters threw a road cone and some fireworks and the police shot of flashbangs and some chemical repellent. Not very smart as some the police weren’t even wearing masks. Police need better training. And the Seattle police should be embarrassed to release this video.

I’m also reminded that four years ago, some middle age white men occupied a federal building for 40 days. No troops or federal agents were used and instead they received care packages.
