Psalm 126

A song of ascents.

1 When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion,
    we were like those who dreamed.
2 Our mouths were filled with laughter,
    our tongues with songs of joy.
   Then it was said among the nations,
    “The Lord has done great things for them.”
3 The Lord has done great things for us,
    and we are filled with joy.

4 Restore our fortunes, Lord,
    like streams in the Negev.
5 Those who sow with tears
    will reap with songs of joy.
6 Those who go out weeping,
    carrying seed to sow,
   will return with songs of joy,
    carrying sheaves with them.

  5. Our Flyboy’s co-worker Tanner is still waiting for the results of his Covid test last Wednesday. Yesterday they told him they had found where the test had gotten lost and would be sure to have results for him today. He feels fully recovered from whatever it was, and is ready to go back to work if the test comes back negative.

    We have been isolating from Flyboy for nearly a week because of concern that Tanner may have exposed him to Covid. If Tanner’s test comes back negative we can finally sit down to dinner with Flyboy tonight instead of delivering a tray to his bedroom door!

  9. Two people we care about have been injured in weird accidents this week. Yesterday my mother-in-law was moving stuff around in her garage (or something like that), and got hit in the mouth with a full glass soda bottle, requiring stitches. And one of the couples who gets us groceries (we have a man and a couple) was out hiking with friends a few days ago and took a shortcut, and he slipped on leaves and fell six feet into the lake, losing his glasses and ruining his smart phone in the process.

  10. Very sorry to hear that, Mumsee. I hope, too, that the prognosis is wrong and that he’ll live longer, though, like with my friend who just died, it can sadly, as you know, go the other way — they initially erred in over-predicting her estimated time to live.

    I hope the experience friends of my parents had with their daughter who had cerebral palsy will be heartening:

    Like your grandson, their daughter had also had a traumatic birth. The parents had been told their daughter wouldn’t survive 24 hours after the birth. When she exceeded that milestone, they said no more than a week.

    Sometime after that, the prognosis was changed to not beyond her first birthday.

    Their daughter went home to Jesus sometime after her 16th birthday. I’d never before seen such parental and sibling love shown to a child as I witnessed in that family whenever we got together.

    I will be praying you have many sweet opportunities to love on your grandson during the days the Lord ordains for him.

  13. Yes, prayers here, too. 😦

    My husband finally had his test to see how the radiation went for his cancer. The numbers are good, so we are thanking the Lord for that. Next check is December. At some point his numbers should plateau and then it will just be checking to make sure they don’t go up again.

  14. Prognosis for twin: it is only an estimate based on similar babies with severe cerebral palsy. The twins at church were given about two years and just celebrated three years. Only God knows the number of our days. But that is true of any and all.
