I’m sorry I missed the Zoom. I was wrestling a Ring Tailed Tooter last night. I have a doctor’s appointment (dermatologist) this morning at 8:15 so really it was easier for her to spend the night. She and Papa are still asleep. Mr. P can’t do as much but she has done well when he tells her he can’t pick her up and she needs to climb into the chair or onto the bed. Probably not a good idea encouraging her to climb in the house, but oh well…
I missed the Zoom because my sister had scheduled one at the same time for herself, me, and our brother. Problem was, she fell asleep and brother forgot. We’ve rescheduled for today but in the meantime, I MISSED seeing you all!
After checking on yesterday’s comments, it seems everyone missed a “Zoom”.

Good morning! It was a busy day yesterday. I was driving and delivering milk prior to work, so wasn’t able to log on till I finished with that. I was interested to hear your stories, but missed them all. I worked on the supply room in the new hospital in preparation for move on Tuesday.
So when the rest of you zoom, is it normal time? Or is there a lag? Do you see mouths move and then hear speech? Do you see mouths move and barely hear garbled speech? Do you see mouths move and hear nothing?
Mumsee- I heard a lot of garble last night. It depends on your Internet. I moved closer to the Wifi and it helped. And I believe there is a slight delay.
Art and I followed the trail of the underground cable. Where I thought I saw some exposed, it was my poor eyesight turning a downed skinny limb into cable. So it all appears to have been installed except for a small portion on our stone stairwell on the backside. They have a ground wire for lightning hits attached to our electric power meter on the wall of the back side of our house. Something about that seems strange to me, but what do I know about such things? I will have to call Xfinity today for status and then call my neighbor. Everybody is feeling so out of control these days that any little thing can become an issue. Is it okay how they attached that ground wire to our electric power meter?
Art got to watch Saving Private Ryan last night thanks to cable while I fell asleep on the couch. I was so emotionally exhausted. I did not even play Words With Friends with Wesley because I went to sleep.
Zoom sounds like a computer version of what used to be a telephone party line. I have only seen this once. But.
Elvera’s family lived in a small community between Greensboro and Spartanburg, SC.
They had a party line. Only one I know of.(This was circa 1955.)
But each phone had it’s own ring. That is, every phone on the line rang if someone called. But four rings might be yours.
Since is was so far between homes, Elvera’s stepmother and some ladies would get on the party line and chat. That, of course, tied up the line, but it was a convenient way to visit in a sparse community.
We had a party line in Levittown, Pa. We lived there from 1952 until 1959 but I’m not sure if the party line lasted that long. IIRC, one “party” could also listen in on the conversations of anyone else on that party line.

I have never, personally, been on a party line.
Though it was not called a party line and was not always one, when we had a landline, we could often hear the neighbors talking on the phone with other folk. I assume they could hear us. I would just hang up when they were on. Though sometimes I was already on the line when it started. Odd. I suspect atmospheric conditions played into it.
My face has been well and thoroughly zapped. I go back in two weeks for more zapping.
It seems I have inherited the Black Family rosacea. I have a special cream for that now.

All this talk about party lines has put a song in my head that I haven’t heard for decades. Decades ago there was a country/bluegrass song that went:

When we moved to a small community in northern Arizona in 1982, we were asked what kind of line we wanted: three-party, five-party, or private. My parents said “private” and were told there were none available, but we could be put on the waiting list. So we had a party line for a little while, a few weeks or months, but it wasn’t long.
The flower up there is really tiny. I also sent AJ a photo of it next to my finger for a size comparison. I meant to send a different photo that was slightly more in focus than this one. That flower reaches about halfway across my fingernail or less, meaning it’s a quarter inch at the most–and look what detail God packed into each minuscule blossom! I would never have seen it at all except that there were people on the trail and so I moved off it for “social distancing,” and there at my feet was one plant with three or four tiny blossoms on it. The next day I went back to get more photos and it was really hard to find the plant, it was so small and non-obvious. Yet seeing the photo you might think it’s a lovely large flower in someone’s garden. I have no idea what species it is, and would love to know. Chances are I am the only person in the world who saw that little plant this year, and now I’m sharing it with you.
Made a hasty, last-minute photo assignment and texted with a few colleagues & council office, the day has begun. A busy one probably.
I’ll get about an hour’s break in the day today, at least, I have to drive to the vet’s office to pick up some meds. Then later tonight or maybe on the weekend I’ll add the invoice to all the others for the past five months so I can apply for a rebate card from the pharmaceutical co. that produces these pills that cost $50 a month. Last time the loaded visa cards (they give rebates also for the flea meds my dogs are on) came fairly quickly, so it’s definitely worth doing. Just kind of a hassle, taking photos of all the invoices and then attaching them to the request form.
I was on a 12 party line in the mountains near Tucson. But it was winter and only 3 or 4 cabins were occupied. I remember when it warmed up the phone rang more often since people were returning to their summer cabins.
I really like that tiny flower which is similar in color to the larger Evening Primrose plants I have. Beautiful, Cheryl!
So funny to hear of Royal Party line here because on our Sunday prayer call, a lady in her seventies recalled that song and said we should look it up to read about it. I had forgotten until you mentioned it now. What are the odds of hearing about that song twice within a few days?
Happy birthday, AJ! I have a brother who has a birthday today, and another with an anniversary (40th, I think–the first in my family every to make that milestone . . . well, one or two uncles did, but not my parents, and two siblings have lost spouses well before that number).
Fedex says my toilet paper, being shipped from PA, is now in Missouri. I should get it by the end of the day on Monday.
Hmm, seems I heard of a Fedex truck having an accident near here and that cases of TP were scattered around. Sorry, DJ. All your TP is now in homes around here.
My neighbor called asking why we had the gas company come out and put the flags in her yard. She was agitated because I had not kept her in the loop about what is going on (as if I knew). I just feel sick about this whole molehill turned into a mountain. She still claims the line is on her property. I don’t know unless we have it surveyed. You can hardly tell where it was put in. I am just tired. I want to be an ostrich today. I am not into pettiness. This is absolutely nothing to compare to the damage done to our yardcthree years ago. Everytime it rained red clay covered our driveway. I kept the peace then. I guess people don’t have anything to do but stew these days.

Dj @ 2:05…don’t count on it. Took my 2 day shipment of an envelope 8 days and lots of frustration. Then we ordered 2 big bags of dog food from Chewy…we received one box last week and the second is “pending”….still no word on when they will actually put it on a truck and bring it to our house….we ordered two bags in the same order! No more FedEx….
Well Peter needs to keep a better eye on things that pass through his state.
Janice, that reminds me of my back fence issues — when I decided to have the gardeners (for what was a too-good price to pass up) replace my 6-foot tall wood fence, the neighbor behind me, which relied on the fence too, became obsessed with where the property line *really* was.
Well, like you, without calling out a survey service — and I was told that 2 services could give you 2 different results — who would know, ‘precisely’? Besides, I said we were just replacing the old fence with a new one like it along the SAME line as before.
She carefully kept an eye on the entire process, offered at one point to give me $100 toward the project since it was a common fence but never did.
I’ve not seen nor heard from them since, although we did receive notices from the city of LA that they’d submitted plans to add some square footage to their home.
Rather frustrating as part of what needed at least fixing on the old fence was caused by their huge bougainvillea pushing forward and compromising parts of the fence. As it was, the fence was old and replacing it was better than repairing it anyway, but I am keeping an eye on their heavy vegetation (which I love, but …. ) to make sure the fence isn’t being “pushed” again.
Nancyjill, yes, chewy is running a tad later than usual on some things. I’ll need to order more dog food from them soon, thanks for the reminder so I’ll hopefully order a bit earlier than I need to!
I am hopeful still that the TP will arrive as planned. It seems to be heading in the right direction, regardless of the fake news report out of Missouri.
I am down to four rolls at home. Publix was out this week. I should be use to the empty shelf look in grocery stores, but it still seems a bit shocking. I have been so few times that it still has not completely sunk in.

Speaking of critters in the vicinity of where we live, a new one is migrating into Georgia and I hope it will not make it to Atlanta. It’s a lizard the grows up to four feet long. It’s mean, too.

Donna, I think I have 20 rolls if you need some. I bought a pack at costco in January and it must have been a pack of 30.
Added a little to my walk today to make sure it was five miles. I was very glad to make it back to my van.
