Prayer Requests 5-6-20

It’s Wednesday, so don’t forget Ajissun and the folks in The Gambia.

Psalm 88

A psalm of the Sons of Korah.

1 Lord, you are the God who saves me;
    day and night I cry out to you.
2 May my prayer come before you;
    turn your ear to my cry.

3 I am overwhelmed with troubles
    and my life draws near to death.
4 I am counted among those who go down to the pit;
    I am like one without strength.
5 I am set apart with the dead,
    like the slain who lie in the grave,
   whom you remember no more,
    who are cut off from your care.

6 You have put me in the lowest pit,
    in the darkest depths.
7 Your wrath lies heavily on me;
    you have overwhelmed me with all your waves.
8 You have taken from me my closest friends
    and have made me repulsive to them.

   I am confined and cannot escape;
9  my eyes are dim with grief.

   I call to you, Lord, every day;
    I spread out my hands to you.
10 Do you show your wonders to the dead?
    Do their spirits rise up and praise you?
11 Is your love declared in the grave,
    your faithfulness in Destruction?
12 Are your wonders known in the place of darkness,
    or your righteous deeds in the land of oblivion?

13 But I cry to you for help, Lord;
    in the morning my prayer comes before you.
14 Why, Lord, do you reject me
    and hide your face from me?

15 From my youth I have suffered and been close to death;
    I have borne your terrors and am in despair.
16 Your wrath has swept over me;
    your terrors have destroyed me.
17 All day long they surround me like a flood;
    they have completely engulfed me.
18 You have taken from me friend and neighbor—
    darkness is my closest friend.

  3. Please pray for my best friend Karen. She has been struggling with health issues the last two months or so. Recent testing has revealed some answers, but she’s scheduled for additional testing to find out more.

    Please also continue to pray for 6th Arrow, and wisdom for hubby and me. I never knew a 12-year-old could get so depressed. She is sad much of the time, and really misses Sunday School and going out to turn my pages for university choir accompanying, which ended in March after the campus closed its doors early. The lockdown and no-unessential-travel dictate in our state continues (though hubby has recently bucked that and taken her out of state two times to visit his mom), and it’s had a profound effect on her this past month and a half since things shut down.

  4. Praying, Michelle. That was the very first thing I was going to type after reading your request, but I see I forgot to write it. Did remember to pray, though, so there’s that. 🙂

  6. 6 Arrows, does your daughter know how to crochet or knit? I think that can help make a person feel productive and occupy the brain in learning new stitches. There are numerous small projects she could make for gifts. I knitted a pillow when I was around that age and that made me feel happy.

  7. Janice, she did get some knitting needles (crochet needles? I don’t remember now) a couple of Christmases ago from 2nd Arrow, but unfortunately didn’t really take to them. Watching instructional videos didn’t help much, and nobody who lives here knows how to do any knitting or crocheting or things like that, so we were of no assistance to her, either.

    We’ve tried doing different handicrafts through our homeschool curriculum, too, but it’s been more of a frustration than anything for those of us who have tried it. Not really in our skill set, I guess.

    She does like to draw, though, and will often do that while listening to classical music recordings or during our read-aloud times.

    She enjoys writing fiction, too, which she sometimes does during music listening and other times.

    So I am thankful she’s still enjoying some things and not moping around all day every day.

    Tomorrow we’re going to Zoom for the first time with 2nd Arrow and Dear Grandbaby, so that should help 6th’s morale. I don’t know why we didn’t think of that before now. 6th was saying last week how much she misses seeing 1st and 2nd Arrows, her siblings who don’t live here.

    I use Zoom for business, of course; it should have occurred to me to use it for family meet-ups, too. Failure to make a logical connection, I guess. It sometimes astounds me how dumb I am!

    But, anyway…thanks for praying.

    Oh, and she’s enjoying seeing baby robins growing larger in the nest that’s in our lean-to. There was an old wooden ladder hanging sideways along the outside wall of the garage along which the lean-to is built, and the robins built the nest on the top of the ladder. The babies — four of them — are big enough now to be seen above the top of the nest. I thought of you and your birding when I saw the nest. 🙂

    Please pray for my friend, Vickie. She is not doing well at all since her bone marrow transplant. She really needs supernatural help as things appear dire.
