On Tuesday, NBC News trumpeted China’s apparent triumphant success in its battle against the novel Wuhan coronavirus as it prepares to lift lockdowns implemented in the Hubei province with no new deaths reported by the communist state.

Since the start of the first outbreak in the Chinese city of Wuhan, the communist regime has lied in every aspect of the crisis including its origin, silenced whistleblowers who sounded the alarm, hid crucial information from global health experts, and pushed the World Health Organization into lying about the nature of the virus itself.
Considering the mountain of evidence to discredit China’s claims, Federalist Senior Contributor Helen Raleigh asked two weeks ago, “Why On Earth Should Anyone Believe Communist China’s Coronavirus Statistics?” “Many Chinese people, including some journalists who work for state media, simply don’t buy the government’s lies anymore,” Raleigh reports. This was before new reports emerged from U.S. entities solidifying doubts about the communist party’s numbers showing progress on the virus.
Last week, Bloomberg News reported that a classified brief delivered to the White House from the U.S. Intelligence community charged China with fabricating its pubic figures on the virus.
Around the same time, estimates released by the U.S. government-funded non-profit Radio Free Asia provided fresh insight on the true death toll attributable to the disease in Wuhan where the virus began. While China has claimed there have only been about 3,000 deaths from the virus nationwide, Radio Free Asia estimated using funeral home capacity and recent urn shipments in the Wuhan area that the accurate total deaths attributable to the virus lie somewhere around 46,800, dwarfing the numbers reported by the government.
NBC’s linked article however, makes no mention of the U.S. intelligence report contradicting China’s figures or any acknowledgement of China’s malicious behavior throughout the pandemic.
NBC is by no means alone in their omission of China’s actions.”
NPR, ABC, CNN, Reuters, nearly all of the US news networks uncritically report China’s numbers as gospel. It’s gross how they allow themselves to act as propaganda agents for the CCP.

The Senate Republican majority is planning to try and quickly approve the small business funds on Thursday to replenish the dwindling $350 billion Paycheck Protection Program. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has asked all 100 senators to signal whether they would object to a quarter trillion more money for small businesses by noon on Wednesday.

Now the extra money for hospitals is a good idea, and one I’m sure the R’s would be willing to negotiate on.
But the “aid” to state and local govts is a Trojan horse. This is an attempt to get money into the hands of Dem controlled cities and states which have already moved to include illegals in the aid, which the law currently forbids. The UNHRC Consultative Group is comprised of only five nations. China will chair the interview processes and help vet candidates for the UN human rights posts.

“According to China’s Ministry of Public Security, police investigated more than 5,100 instances of “fabricating and deliberately disseminating false and harmful information” between January 20 and February 21. The actual number as of today is unknown as are details of most of the cases. However, a group called Chinese Human Rights Defenders (CHRD) has collected information on 897 such cases between January 1 and March 26. What they found was government censorship of social media which resulted in some people having their social media accounts deleted and others being put into administrative detention.
From our incomplete list of cases, we are able to tell that the punishments handed out by police fall largely into several types: administrative detention, criminal detention, enforced disappearance, fines, warnings/interrogations, forced confessions and “educational reprimand”. In over half of these cases, we could not find the specific punishments meted out against the “offenders.” Of the specified types of punishment, police favoured administrative detention (18.5% of the total) and “educational reprimand” (17.8% of the total).”

Citizen journalist and rights activist, Fang Bin (方斌), has been missing since being taken away by police on February 9. Fang Bin is a Wuhan resident who began posting videos online of life and death in the epicentre of the outbreak, including one video filmed on January 25 that highlighted the overwhelmed hospitals, in which he called for unblocked, free information to combat the epidemic.
Citizen journalist and former CCTV host Li Zehua (李泽华), has been missing since police took him into custody on February 26. Li travelled to Wuhan in February, after Chen Qiushi’s disappearance, and began to report on conditions on the ground and post videos online.
Dissident intellectual and former prisoner of conscience, Guo Quan (郭泉), was detained on charges of “inciting subversion of state power” on January 31 and then formally arrested in February for speaking out online about the coronavirus outbreak. He is being held at Nanjing No. 2 Detention Center.”

By now, everyone knows China lied and is still lying. The reporting you mentioned is lazy journalism in that it just compiles info pulled from the news wire. Investigative journalism would find something different. However, the current model in the news business does not allow for time and journalism — its not that they are carrying water for the Chinese, the corporate model of journalism is to blame for the current state of the news.
This does present a problem for White House credibility. In March some in the admin were expressing surprise saying it was worse than they originally thought and had been told. In other words, they too believe the Chinese previous to the outbreak in the US. That does meet any rational test. The US government rarely believes any data from the Chinese — economic, demographic etc. They have their own intelligence on the ground. Not withstanding the very specific denial in your posted tweet, the admin knew by early January that the Chinese were lying about the corona virus. The DIA/NCMI doesn’t deny anything other than a report in November — Trumps’s daily briefings in early January certainly included information on Wuhan. Since its established that China lied and the admin knew by January, why the late or slow response.
Although it looks like the US and Canada are reaching the top of the curve and beginning to bend, I would still be wary. Heath is a state and provincial jurisdiction and in both countries the crisis is managed by governors and premiers. Canadian geography allows the provinces to go it alone with minimal cooperation outside the prairie provinces but American geography and infrastructure creates a far more integrated country and the state by state approach may lead to a game of whack a mole. Because some states are viewing it as a problem elsewhere, their social isolation rules are quite slack and testing is minimal. This may mean once the crisis is on a downward trend, it may pop up elsewhere. I’m thinking of Georgia where beaches are open, church services are taking place and testing is minimal.
Pence’s comments viewed in the greater context of comments made by other Republicans and the corporate elite may ring hollow and uncaring by some. In March, many of the corporate elite afraid of losing money were trying to down play the crisis, the rate of infection and the mortality rate and were demanding people still continue working. Its interesting how corporate capitalism is afraid a one month shutdown will destroy — quite the fragile system if minimum wage workers need to continue to risk their lives just to sustain it. The fragility of modern capitalism should be a lesson we don’t forget from this crisis.
The mortality rate of confirmed cases should not be understated. About 20% of all closed cases are deaths. This is not the flu as some corporate and political leaders have tried to tell us.

The UN committees are getting worse each year. The lower bureaucrats are actually low paying jobs that most western workers pass on or treat as internships. This leaves many of these jobs available to people who view the ability to live in New York as a real pull and whose UN wages are supplemented by their home country and possibly bribes. Eventually absurd decisions are made (UN women’s cmttee with Saudi male delegates is the best/worst).

Currently the UN seats are determined like the Senate , one state gets two seats no matter the population nor economic power. Obviously a flawed approach. Perhaps a House approach where seats are determined by population would be a better approach — but then we are looking at Chinese/Indian dominated assembly. Maybe a bicameral approach?
AJ — in context of comments made by Republicans and corporate elites. Its the appearance of the economy is more important than health. Min wage workers have been told they need to get back to work. Some Republicans held up a relief bill because the relief measures would lead to some people staying home too long, Without this context, Pence sounds fine but my cynicism based on previous comments tells me Pence is saying the right things just so they will continue to work without regard to their health.
I suspect we don’t know. Lot about intelligence gathering, when and where. Frankly, we shouldn’t know because we cannot put information Into a broader context outside our personal experience and understanding.
I loved “without a need to know” for 20 years. I had a heightened awareness, I was prepared for what might come, but ignorant and therefore not tormented by the “what if’s” that have no real value.
What difference is it when we knew about the virus? This is where we are now. Children point fingers and accuse. Adults sigh, evaluate and get on with it.
We can sort out the proper timeline later. I suspect lots of people knew in November, but the information may very well have been classified.
Interesting poll results you cite. They don’t distinguish by race or ethnicity, though. The polls collected by RealClearPolitics and published on Wednesday show a 4 to 8% advantage to Biden and a 5 to 10% disapproval rate. All indications are that the corona virus and his admins handling of it have had no effect on the polls.
I do think we need to look at timelines etc just for lessons to be learned etc. We could save that for later but that leaves time to change the narrative and poison the well.
The current absurdity of “we didn’t know” and “its the Chinese fault, they lied” should be set straight as soon as possible. Finger pointing at the Chinese is absurd — gov’ts know they lie, that’s why they have intelligence agencies. And for some scapegoating the Chinese gov’t can’t be distinguished by scapegoating Chinese people.

Pandemics affect cities far more than rural areas and cities are generally represented by Democrats. McConnell is leaving out the part that Democrats want to add emergency medical aid to the cities. Just add it — its not like its not needed.
I explained above why. They are using local funds to bypass the law and give it to illegals. Giving them more simply allows more law breaking from Dems in sanctuary areas.

As for the medical aid to hospitals, McConnell has already suggested legislation to do so and will negotiate with Dems. I thought you could tell from my comment about fanning conspiracies would mean I wasn’t making the connection between the news items but rather its out there. Though, I do think profit taking will be over the top.
A pandemic is not the time to worry whether a person has the right papers before they are given care.
Pence has told CNN they need to carry Trump’s press conferences in their entirety or Fauci or Brix would not be allowed on their network. Not sure if that violates the letter of the law but certainly violates the spirit of the freedom of the press.
Define critical care, if it doesn’t include free tests for COVID 19 this pandemic will continue. What about migrants who are taxpayers and contribute to social security? Only 51% of Americans are taxpayers — are you going to deny benefits to the other 49%?

Given US geography and infrastructure a patchwork state by state is not ideal. In addition, by withdrawing testing from current pandemic hot spots you risk allowing it spread outward. Ohio which has done fairly well so far now runs the risks of asymptomatic carrier coming from Pennsylvania. Now is not the time to quit — the more tests the better.

Last week, Bloomberg News reported that a classified brief delivered to the White House from the U.S. Intelligence community charged China with fabricating its pubic figures on the virus.
Around the same time, estimates released by the U.S. government-funded non-profit Radio Free Asia provided fresh insight on the true death toll attributable to the disease in Wuhan where the virus began. While China has claimed there have only been about 3,000 deaths from the virus nationwide, Radio Free Asia estimated using funeral home capacity and recent urn shipments in the Wuhan area that the accurate total deaths attributable to the virus lie somewhere around 46,800, dwarfing the numbers reported by the government.
NBC’s linked article however, makes no mention of the U.S. intelligence report contradicting China’s figures or any acknowledgement of China’s malicious behavior throughout the pandemic.
NBC is by no means alone in their omission of China’s actions.”

But the “aid” to state and local govts is a Trojan horse. This is an attempt to get money into the hands of Dem controlled cities and states which have already moved to include illegals in the aid, which the law currently forbids. Cali., Chicago, and other areas have already begun to use local and state money to do just that. This is a backdoor attempt to fund larger efforts.

Dissident intellectual and former prisoner of conscience, Guo Quan (郭泉), was detained on charges of “inciting subversion of state power” on January 31 and then formally arrested in February for speaking out online about the coronavirus outbreak. He is being held at Nanjing No. 2 Detention Center.”

By now, everyone knows China lied and is still lying. The reporting you mentioned is lazy journalism in that it just compiles info pulled from the news wire. Investigative journalism would find something different. However, the current model in the news business does not allow for time and journalism — its not that they are carrying water for the Chinese, the corporate model of journalism is to blame for the current state of the news.
This does present a problem for White House credibility. In March some in the admin were expressing surprise saying it was worse than they originally thought and had been told. In other words, they too believe the Chinese previous to the outbreak in the US. That does meet any rational test. The US government rarely believes any data from the Chinese — economic, demographic etc. They have their own intelligence on the ground. Not withstanding the very specific denial in your posted tweet, the admin knew by early January that the Chinese were lying about the corona virus. The DIA/NCMI doesn’t deny anything other than a report in November — Trumps’s daily briefings in early January certainly included information on Wuhan. Since its established that China lied and the admin knew by January, why the late or slow response.

Although it looks like the US and Canada are reaching the top of the curve and beginning to bend, I would still be wary. Heath is a state and provincial jurisdiction and in both countries the crisis is managed by governors and premiers. Canadian geography allows the provinces to go it alone with minimal cooperation outside the prairie provinces but American geography and infrastructure creates a far more integrated country and the state by state approach may lead to a game of whack a mole. Because some states are viewing it as a problem elsewhere, their social isolation rules are quite slack and testing is minimal. This may mean once the crisis is on a downward trend, it may pop up elsewhere. I’m thinking of Georgia where beaches are open, church services are taking place and testing is minimal.
Pence’s comments viewed in the greater context of comments made by other Republicans and the corporate elite may ring hollow and uncaring by some. In March, many of the corporate elite afraid of losing money were trying to down play the crisis, the rate of infection and the mortality rate and were demanding people still continue working. Its interesting how corporate capitalism is afraid a one month shutdown will destroy — quite the fragile system if minimum wage workers need to continue to risk their lives just to sustain it. The fragility of modern capitalism should be a lesson we don’t forget from this crisis.
The mortality rate of confirmed cases should not be understated. About 20% of all closed cases are deaths. This is not the flu as some corporate and political leaders have tried to tell us.

The UN committees are getting worse each year. The lower bureaucrats are actually low paying jobs that most western workers pass on or treat as internships. This leaves many of these jobs available to people who view the ability to live in New York as a real pull and whose UN wages are supplemented by their home country and possibly bribes. Eventually absurd decisions are made (UN women’s cmttee with Saudi male delegates is the best/worst).
A link you provided a while back stated we should stop this egalitarian approach of one country one seat and return to the balance of power realpolitik era. I don’t think going back is a really good idea but he does make one rethink current set-up.
Currently the UN seats are determined like the Senate , one state gets two seats no matter the population nor economic power. Obviously a flawed approach. Perhaps a House approach where seats are determined by population would be a better approach — but then we are looking at Chinese/Indian dominated assembly. Maybe a bicameral approach?

Some Republicans held up a relief bill because the relief measures would lead to some people staying home too long, Without this context, Pence sounds fine but my cynicism based on previous comments tells me Pence is saying the right things just so they will continue to work without regard to their health.

I suspect we don’t know. Lot about intelligence gathering, when and where. Frankly, we shouldn’t know because we cannot put information Into a broader context outside our personal experience and understanding.
I loved “without a need to know” for 20 years. I had a heightened awareness, I was prepared for what might come, but ignorant and therefore not tormented by the “what if’s” that have no real value.
What difference is it when we knew about the virus? This is where we are now. Children point fingers and accuse. Adults sigh, evaluate and get on with it.
We can sort out the proper timeline later. I suspect lots of people knew in November, but the information may very well have been classified.
So what?

Interesting poll results you cite. They don’t distinguish by race or ethnicity, though. The polls collected by RealClearPolitics and published on Wednesday show a 4 to 8% advantage to Biden and a 5 to 10% disapproval rate. All indications are that the corona virus and his admins handling of it have had no effect on the polls.

I do think we need to look at timelines etc just for lessons to be learned etc. We could save that for later but that leaves time to change the narrative and poison the well.
The current absurdity of “we didn’t know” and “its the Chinese fault, they lied” should be set straight as soon as possible. Finger pointing at the Chinese is absurd — gov’ts know they lie, that’s why they have intelligence agencies. And for some scapegoating the Chinese gov’t can’t be distinguished by scapegoating Chinese people.

As for the medical aid to hospitals, McConnell has already suggested legislation to do so and will negotiate with Dems. But that is completely a separate issue from helping employers keep their workers working. They can get that done without breaking the law and ensuring only citizens receive aid, as the law intended. I thought you could tell from my comment about fanning conspiracies would mean I wasn’t making the connection between the news items but rather its out there. Though, I do think profit taking will be over the top.
A pandemic is not the time to worry whether a person has the right papers before they are given care.
Pence has told CNN they need to carry Trump’s press conferences in their entirety or Fauci or Brix would not be allowed on their network. Not sure if that violates the letter of the law but certainly violates the spirit of the freedom of the press.
Apparently the funding for COVID tests will end on Friday. A bizarre decision which will only prolong the crisis. Testing and more testing is the only way to contain the virus.

No one is denied critical care in the US, regardless of legal status.
But they don’t get to share in the benefits that taxpayers are providing.
And Pence has already withdrawn his order on CNN.
Trump is simply turning testing over to the states, where the testing was happening and run from to start with. Yawn.

Define critical care, if it doesn’t include free tests for COVID 19 this pandemic will continue. What about migrants who are taxpayers and contribute to social security? Only 51% of Americans are taxpayers — are you going to deny benefits to the other 49%?
Why issue it in the first place — send a chill–these ongoing battles with the media violate the spirit of the free press, an important tool for democracy to continue
Given US geography and infrastructure a patchwork state by state is not ideal. In addition, by withdrawing testing from current pandemic hot spots you risk allowing it spread outward. Ohio which has done fairly well so far now runs the risks of asymptomatic carrier coming from Pennsylvania. Now is not the time to quit — the more tests the better.
