“Murphy jumped to conclusions, assuming the funding reductions had gone into effect and the programs in nearly 40 countries were closed. But that’s not correct. Advocacy groups and congressional officials jumped into action. The Trump administration backed off and now appears to fully support GHSA. The recent news reports cited above more accurately said that the administration had sought these cuts, without mentioning that they did not go into effect.

Worldwide, there have been no deaths reported so far in young children.
The coronavirus’ mercy on children is a relief and a mystery to pediatric infectious diseases experts, who have a handful of working theories but no definitive answers for why.
“This is one of the unusual findings and curveballs that this virus keeps throwing at us,” said Dr. Frank Esper, a pediatric infectious diseases specialist at Cleveland Clinic Children’s, whose research focuses on viral respiratory infections and newly recognized infectious diseases. “Normal coronaviruses seem to affect children and adults equally, but this one, for whatever reason, certainly skews more to the adult population.”
The answer may lie in the difference between children’s and adult’s immune systems, said Dr. Vanessa Raabe, an assistant professor in pediatric and adult infectious diseases at NYU Langone. As people age, their immune systems weaken, she said, potentially making it harder for them to fight off illnesses.”

“Trump Administration Reverses Obama-Era Regulation Responsible For Coronavirus Testing Roadblock”
“The Trump administration has rolled back a Food And Drug Administration rule instituted by President Barack Obama that has stalled coronavirus testing at the state level.
The rule in question previously required state-run laboratories to only run medical tests pre-approved by the F.D.A.
Commissioner Stephen Hahn first addressed the testing problem on Saturday by issuing new guidance that would allow the state labs to conduct not-yet-approved coronavirus testing on patients in response to the public health emergency. In return for skirting the Obama-era regulation, laboratories must apply for an F.D.A. review of the new test, document the test’s accuracy and notify the F.D.A. of the test’s validity prior to F.D.A. completing the approval process.
“We believe this policy strikes the right balance during this public health emergency,” said FDA Commissioner Stephen M. Hahn of the rule change. “We will continue to help to ensure sound science prior to clinical testing and follow-up with the critical independent review from the FDA, while quickly expanding testing capabilities in the U.S.””

It will be interesting to see where Warren sends her endorsement. The obvious choice is Sanders, since they’re closely aligned ideology wise, but she may go with the establishment choice, Joe. But that doesn’t mean her voters will.
Also interesting, if she had done this on Monday, Bernie would have benefited big time. Give her numbers mostly to Bernie and he wins Minnesota, Oklahoma, and Texas. Then it would be a completely different race.
Warren’s stubbornness and ego has clearly benefited Biden, as did Amy and Pete’s crowd. But that ends now.
So now as I see it, it’s Sanders/Warren or Biden/Klobuchar.
I’m thinking the “moderate only when compared to the commies” ticket wins. Then it all depends on what the once again stiffed in their eyes Sanders/Warren supporters do. 🙂

Former Senator and former Attorney General Jeff Sessions failed to secure the Republican nomination for his old Senate seat and now faces a runoff election on March 31st. Former Auburn football coach Tommy Tuberville won 33.4% of the vote to Sessions’ 31.6%.

Former Sen. Jeff Sessions and onetime Auburn University football coach Tommy Tuberville were neck and neck in the Republican primary race for the Senate on Tuesday night and will face off in a runoff election later this month, NBC News projects.

“I will fight for Alabama every day, and we will win the Republican nomination on March 31,” Sessions told a crowd of supporters Tuesday night. … Philosophically, we hope Biden isn’t pulled too far left to win over Sanders voters and sticks to a mainstream center-left message. We’re not fans of many of Biden’s political positions, but Biden’s approach is far less dangerous to liberty than the vision espoused by Sanders. The Vermont senator is intent on remaking the American economy and seems blind to the well-documented evils of socialism.
Even Republicans who relish the thought of a lopsided Trump-Sanders race ought to think twice about that possibility. In modern America, any major-party candidate has a realistic chance of winning the White House. A Sanders revolution is too big of a risk to take.
We’re pleased Democratic voters recognized the threat and the party, at least in recent days, behaved like a well-oiled machine rather than a disorganized wreck. ~

DJ, I kept saying that in the last election. People made a big deal of Reagan’s age, and going from memory he was 69 the first time and thus 74 the second time. Last election, Trump, Hillary, and Sanders were all in their seventies, and no one mentioned it! Now the same men are four years older.
It’s odd how the same people in media/Democrat circles who questioned Biden’s physical and mental health over the summer don’t seem interested in discussing it anymore.”
