  1. I can assure this is not what prosecutors expected when they granted him immunity to testify. But there’s nothing they can do about it now.

    https://nypost.com/2019/06/20/navy-seal-reveals-on-stand-he-killed-prisoner-not-chief/

“A Navy SEAL testifying against a decorated chief in his murder trial confessed that he and not the defendant was responsible for killing a captive Islamic State teen, in a bombshell revelation in the courtroom.

Special Warfare Operator 1st Class Corey Scott said Thursday that he covered the wounded prisoner’s breathing tube, asphyxiating the teen, after Special Operations Chief Edward Gallagher plunged a knife into his neck.

Scott said the teen, who was injured in an airstrike, would’ve survived the stabbing, but he plugged the teen’s air tube with his thumb to spare him from Iraqi forces eventually torturing him, news station KNSD reported.

“I knew he was going to die anyway,” Scott told the court. “I wanted to save him from waking up to what had happened next.”

Scott, who was granted immunity to testify, served a major blow to prosecutors, who had called him as a witness. They grew angry and accused him of not telling them about this before and of lying.

“So you can stand up there and you can lie about how you killed the ISIS prisoner so Chief Gallagher does not have to go to jail,” the prosecutor, Lt. Brian John, said. “You don’t want Chief Gallagher to go to jail, do you?”

Scott acknowledged he didn’t want Gallagher who is facing a life sentence to serve time.

“He’s got a wife and family,” Scott said. “I don’t think he should be spending his life in prison.””

  3. This is how you turn Texas blue. It’s self inflicted.

“Texas gained almost nine Hispanic residents for every additional white resident last year”

“The gap between Texas’ Hispanic and white populations continued to narrow last year when the state gained almost nine Hispanic residents for every additional white resident.

With Hispanics expected to become the largest population group in Texas as soon as 2022, new population estimates released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau showed the Hispanic population climbed to nearly 11.4 million — an annual gain of 214,736 through July 2018 and an increase of 1.9 million since 2010.”

The white population, meanwhile, grew by just 24,075 last year. Texas still has a bigger white population — up to 11.9 million last year — but it has only grown by roughly 484,000 since 2010. The white population’s growth has been so sluggish this decade that it barely surpassed total growth among Asian Texans, who make up a tiny share of the total population, in the same time period.”

Texans of color continue to easily outpace the white population
Soon to become a plurality, the Hispanic population in Texas has grown massively since 2010. Meanwhile, the white population is barely staying ahead of the Asian population in growth.”

“Former NFL player Burgess Owens blasted the Democratic Party on Wednesday as he testified to the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties on the issue of reparations.

“The focus of the discussion was a bill authored by Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) that would initiate a study of the issue of reparations and come up with proposals for ‘appropriate remedies’ to slavery and discrimination from 1619 to the present,” The Blaze reported. “Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) publicly opposed reparations in comments made Tuesday, saying he doesn’t ‘think reparations for something that happened 150 years ago when none of us currently living are responsible is a good idea.’”

“I used to be a Democrat until I did my history and found out the misery that that party brought to my race,” Owens said. “I do believe in restitution. Let’s point to the party that was part of slavery, KKK, Jim Crow, that has killed over 40 percent of our black babies, 20 million of them.”

“State of California, 75 percent of our black boys cannot pass standard reading and writing tests: a Democratic state,” Owens continued. “So yes, let’s pay restitution. How about a Democratic Party pay for all the misery brought to my race and those — after we learn our history — who decide to stay there, they should pay also. They are complicit. And every white American, Republican or Democrat, that feels guilty because of your white skin, you should need to pony up also. That way we can get past this reparation and recognize that this country has given us greatness.”

“Look at this panel. Doesn’t matter how we think. Doesn’t matter our color. We have become successful in this country like no other because of this great opportunity to live the American dream,” Owens added. “Let’s not steal that from our kids by telling them they can’t do it.””

  5. Criminals? No that can’t be right……..

This was never just women and children, and allowing it to continue means allowing children to be further exploited and victimized.

    https://dailycaller.com/2019/06/20/migrant-caravans-carried-criminal-history/

“Hundreds of migrants who were part of U.S.-bound caravans carried serious criminal convictions, an internal investigation from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reveals.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), two agencies under DHS, conducted an investigation into two different caravans from Central America that were bound for the U.S. Their findings revealed hundreds of those individuals carried criminal histories, including murder, aggravated assault and sexual offenses. The figures specifically refer to criminal acts already committed in the U.S.

The discoveries were detailed in a letter from members of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, and obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Out of the nearly 8,000 members within a caravan that reached south of California in October 2018, ICE Homeland Security Investigations found that 660 already had run-ins with the law in the U.S.

Of those, nearly 40 were convicted of assault or aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Three of them were convicted for murder.

ICE Homeland Security Investigations also tracked a migrant caravan from Honduras in January 2019. Of the more than 3,300 individuals in the caravan, 860 were found to have criminal histories in the U.S., including 30 convicted of sexual offenses, 20 convicted of assault and aggravated assault and one convicted of attempted murder.”

    And another inconvenient truth.

    https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/dan-crenshaw-democrats-mexico-border

“Last month, 144,000 people were arrested at our southern border. Many of these people were not trying to escape the Border Patrol but were turning themselves in. Why?

Because our asylum process is laughably easy to take advantage of.

One must be deliberately ignoring reality to pretend that our asylum process is not being abused. As it stands now, the incentives are aligned to permit illegal immigrants to cross the border with a child, knowing full well that they will be caught and released into society without the chance of deportation. We cannot pretend that this a system based on rule of law and respect for our sovereignty.

Even worse, we cannot pretend that this is a system that rewards law-abiding legal immigration over illegal immigration. It isn’t fair to our citizens, and it isn’t fair to immigrants around the world who are trying to come to our country legally.

The situation we’re seeing on the border is unsustainable, to say the least. There are holding facilities packed with about seven times the number of migrants they were designed for.

Border detentions are up 32 percent compared to April, and Customs and Border Protection has had to divert up to 50 percent of its agents from their normal duties in order to process and care for this enormous number of migrants.

Border agents are tending to the health needs of migrants instead of protecting the border from drug traffickers and human smugglers. They’ve been given an impossible job, while Congress withholds the resources they need to do it.

The crisis extends well beyond the border, as well. Americans hospitals and schools are overwhelmed. In Houston, which I represent, employees at one hospital designated for low-income Americans without insurance told me they spend 25 percent of their budget on illegal immigrants.

The root cause of the record-breaking surge in migrants is the widespread abuse of our asylum system. Because of a massive backlog of asylum cases and an inability to quickly adjudicate and enforce them, more migrants are making the journey to our border. They bring children with them to take advantage of our loopholes, knowing we must release family units within 20 days.

This encourages many adults to recycle the same children over and over again – effectively incentivizing human trafficking. Upon arrival, they’re held for a matter of days or weeks, then released into the country.”

  6. About now Alabama R’s should be begging Jeff Sessions to run again.

    https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2019/06/roy-moore-will-run-for-the-senate-again.php

“ROY MOORE WILL RUN FOR THE SENATE AGAIN
Roy Moore, who lost the Alabama Senate seat to Democrat Doug Jones last year, announced today that he will run again for that seat. Moore’s campaign was derailed by allegations that he dated teenage girls back in the 1970s and assaulted one of them.

Moore’s entry will not make President Trump happy. A few weeks ago, Trump tweeted:

Republicans cannot allow themselves to again lose the Senate seat in the Great State of Alabama. This time it will be for Six Years, not just Two. I have NOTHING against Roy Moore, and unlike many other Republican leaders, wanted him to win. But he didn’t, and probably won’t…

Actually, I think that if Moore is the Republican nominee, he will win this time. Unlike the special election in 2018, the 2020 election will likely produce a massive turnout by Republican voters eager to cast their vote for Trump. This will swell Moore’s vote total.”

    https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/449347-alabama-senator-sessions-hasnt-ruled-out-senate-bid

“Alabama senator: Sessions hasn’t ruled out Senate bid”

“Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) said Wednesday that former Attorney General Jeff Sessions hasn’t ruled out running for his former Senate seat in 2020, and that he would be “formidable” if he jumps in the Alabama race.

“I talked to him before. If he got in the race he would be very formidable,” Shelby said.

Asked if Sessions had indicated if he was leaning toward getting in the race or not, Shelby indicated that a decision had not been made.

“He hasn’t said to me yes or no,” Shelby said. “But he’s a good friend.”

Shelby’s comments come as the chance of a bloody GOP primary in the Alabama Senate race has emerged as an early 2020 headache for Republicans.”

  7. Kizzie, I suspect the concern is not so much about race as it is about bringing in social ideas and customs. If you have been told in your home country that America is going to give you and all others a free ride, you will vote accordingly. If you have experienced a free ride in America, by committing a crime and returning without any real consequences, you will live accordingly.

  8. So the issue is with illegal immigrants, not so much Hispanics in general? I didn’t see that in the article, but then again, I did read it quickly.

Ricky used to tell us that the immigrants he knew of (even the illegals, I believe) were hard workers. (Not that there weren’t some slackers among them, as there are in all people groups. There are always those who will take advantage when they can.) I have read that, at least on social issues, Hispanics (and blacks, too, I think) tend to be more conservative than whites, which is a positive thing.

  9. But when people hear they are getting a free lunch, they tend to start thinking they should have one.

I have known quite a few hardworking Hispanics, blacks, whites, Asians, and Native Americans. I have also known the other sort. People are people.

A lot of people around here are Democrats because great grandpa was one. And because they get free farm money. Many are staunch Catholic and anti abortion. It is difficult to have all those conflicting ideas.

  10. Correct. That has been the case for decades. No one is against legal immigrants or immigration, except when it’s used as a tool to stiff US workers. Not even against increasing immigrants, as long as they’re properly vetted and investigated and do so legally. Follow the law, and you are welcome to join us. Don’t, you get sent back.

But once they’re here illegally, it doesn’t take long for Dems to try and hand them benefits and even let them vote in local elections (see Cali, Colo, and soon NY), as well as give them drivers licenses and a get out of those pesky FAA regs free card, which even citizens cant get. They then exploit the large number of illegals in an area to get additional House Reps which are based on population, not residency. Just another way Dems exploit this.

As for Texas, most of those birth increases are anchor babies now. As it was intended when they flooded in. This census wouldn’t ask the citizenship question last time around, but will now. That’s when the real fight begins because Reps are based on census data. Now the country will get to see first hand when legal/illegal are broken down, who, and in what areas, are exploiting it and encouraging illegals in for political gain. Now we’ll be able to see who’s representing citizens, and who’s not. Hint: lookin’ at you Texas, NY, Cali., Arizona, NJ, PA. etc., etc.

  11. It’s about time they get off their butts and earn their pay for a change. It’s only a crisis because they made it one thru their inaction and encouraging of illegal behavior.

    https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/449214-dems-make-u-turn-on-calling-border-a-manufactured-crisis

“Democrats have done a U-turn on their claim from earlier this year that President Trump’s concern about illegal immigration at the southern border was a “manufactured crisis.”

Democrats now acknowledge there is a genuine humanitarian crisis and are preparing to pass legislation that would provide as much as $4.5 billion in federal aid to address the surge of migrants from Central America.

A surging number of arrests, media reports of smugglers renting children to desperate migrants to help them gain entry into the United States and stories of children dying in U.S. custody have changed the narrative.

Earlier this year, Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) accused Trump of exaggerating problems at the border to stoke fear among Americans and distract from the turmoil of his own administration.

After Trump issued an Oval Office address to the nation on Jan. 8 proclaiming the border situation a “crisis of the heart and a crisis of the soul,” Schumer and Pelosi gave a side-by-side rebuttal.

“This president just used the backdrop of the Oval Office to manufacture a crisis, stoke fear and divert attention from the turmoil in his administration,” Schumer said in the midst of a 35-day government shutdown sparked by a partisan disagreement over funding border barriers.

    Other Democrats made similar dismissals.”

  12. The Democrat party, probably since the late ’60s and ’70s, has had to balance the working class Democrats (who lean more conservative socially) and the growing leftward movements that have been in ascendance at different times (this clearly is one of those times) in more recent years.

My dad, an Iowa farm kid turned Southern California aerospace factory worker, was a lifelong Democrat — but of the Harry Truman variety. Once the ‘hippie’ era began to take over the party, he had no time for it, but he still was very reluctant to change his registration.

Interesting how political genetics are a hold on many, even as political parties begin to shift and even become unrecognizable over the course of a generation.

  14. More on the “deal”. The wall money is irrelevant, as Trump has already lined up the funding needed by his own methods, which Dems can’t stop.

    https://legalinsurrection.com/2019/06/senate-committee-strikes-bipartisan-deal-on-4-6-billion-border-bill/#more-286925

“The Senate Appropriations Committee approved a $4.6 billion emergency spending bill to address the border crisis. Approval was achieved only after explicit wording was included that prevents diverting any of the monies to the building of the wall. The bill will move to the Senate next week for a vote.

    Fox News reports:

A Senate panel gave its approval Wednesday to President Trump’s $4.6 billion request for funding to tackle the escalating humanitarian crisis at the southern border — but only after funding for a wall was pulled to get Democratic approval.

The Senate Appropriations Committee approved the bill in a 30-1 vote, sending it to the Senate floor for a vote next week.

The bill contains $2.9 billion to care for unaccompanied minors crossing the border and an additional $1.3 billion to care for adult asylum seekers and migrants.

The Washington Examiner reports that it also included $1.1 billion for Customs and Border Protection to “improve conditions at border entry points” and for “transportation, medical care and items like clothing, baby formula and other essential items.” It also includes $65 million for new immigration judges and to educate migrants on the legal process.

But agreement on the Committee only came after Chairman Richard Shelby, R-Ala., agreed to drop requests for more detention beds and to a provision that blocks money from being diverted to a wall on the border.

The bill includes new immigration judges and various means of funding all aspects of care for illegal aliens and asylum seekers.

    The Washington Examiner reports:

Below are many of the details in the package before the committee:

$65 million to hire 30 new immigration judges and help educate detained immigrants on the legal process.
$155 million to U.S. Marshals Service for prisoner transportation, housing, care.
$1.1 billion for Customs and Border Protection to improve conditions at border entry points, transportation, medical care and items like clothing, baby formula and other essential items.
$204 million to Immigration and Customs Enforcement for transportation of illegals, medical care, and “alternatives to detention.”
$30 million to the Federal Emergency Management Agency for the care of “homeless migrants.”
$2.88 billion to the Department of Health and Human Services for the care of unaccompanied alien children.
In making the case for the UAC funding, the leadership noted that 51,000 children have referred to HHS through May, a 60% increase over last year.”

    ——————–

So basically since Oct of 2018 – 10% are unaccompanied children. 50% are family units and 40% are single males.

Nearly half are not children or women, Don’t fall for the lies.

  16. This period in the Democratic Party reminds me of the aftermath of the party’s disastrous 1968 convention which ushered in the 1972 candidacy of George McGovern. The 1972 convention also was one that swept in a new breed of delegate — essentially the goal seemed to bring those who were outside the convention hall protesting in Chicago inside the hall for 1972 in Miami. More women, more minorities, more young people, fewer entrenched party leaders.

Of course, it ended with a thumping at the polls in November. And I believe the party’s politics settled down again after that, its next nominee would have been the mild centrist (as he was considered, at least) Jimmy Carter.

An administration official said Tuesday that more than 1 million migrants face deportation orders and “remain at large,” although some immigration advocates said that figure appeared exaggerated. In any case, many migrants facing deportation have long hidden from federal agents, and it’s unclear how many of them ICE agents would be able to find or process. ~
