“The Justice Department has informed the House Judiciary Committee that Attorney General William Barr may skip a Thursday hearing on special counsel Robert Mueller’s report if committee lawyers seek to question him.

Until a crash in Ethiopia last October, Southwest Airlines thought the system came standard with the platform — so much so that their operating manuals included them.
Somehow, the news that the safety feature was an upgrade didn’t get mentioned to the FAA, either:

“We all knew something was fishy about Foxx’s office dropping the charges against Smollett out of nowhere. It turns out the double standard exists.
Cook County Judge Marc Martin presided “over an unrelated case” when he took shots at “Foxx and her office for creating a situation where anyone charged with filing a false report would expect the same leniency her office afforded Smollett.”
It turns out they don’t. Candace Clark, 21, faces one felony charge of making a false police report…the same charges Smollett faced. From FOX 32:
According to a transcript obtained by FOX 32, Judge Martin hammered prosecutors, asking, “I’d like to know why Ms. Clark is being treated differently than Jussie Smollett. It’s a disorderly conduct case. A lot less egregious than Mr. Smollett’s case. I have a problem with it.”
Prosecutors were demanding that Clark make full restitution of $2,800 and serve deferred prosecution, something not required of Smollett.
“Ms. Clark is not a movie star, she doesn’t have a high-priced lawyer,” said Judge Martin. “And this smells big time. Your office created this mess. There’s no publicity on this case. Press gets ahold of this; it’ll be the newspaper.”
Two Deputies Resigned
Foxx already lost two important people in her office: Ethics office April Perry and Conviction Integrity Unit Director Mark Rotert. Both submitted their resignation letters last week.
Foxx said that Perry was the one within the office that urged her to recuse herself from the case.
Rotert told The Chicago Sun-Times that his decision to resign “had absolutely zero percent to do” with the Smollett case. Perry never responded to the media’s request for comments.”
‘California State University, San Marcos, also confirmed that Earnest was a nursing student there who had earned dean’s list honors. The school released a statement saying it was “dismayed and disheartened” that he was suspected in “this despicable act.”’
I have been seeing and commenting on a rising tide of hatred coming from conservative, professing Christians for several years now – I have a member of my own family who indulges in anti-semitic conspiracy theories and takes every opportunity he can to criticize the Jews, but I am well aware he is not alone in his views, as I have seen them elsewhere from those who claim Christianity and he gets most of his material from the internet. Jesus told us to love our enemies and bless them who curse us, and do good to those who hate us (Matthew 5:433-48); but what I see more and more from those calling themselves Christian in the West is a fleshly eagerness to justify their hatred of others. Love, Paul tells us, “bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things (I Corinthains 15); but I see an eagerness to snap up juicy news stories about one’s political/religious/idealistic opponents in order to increase one’s anger towards them. The angry words that I regularly read Christians spewing towards those they consider to be opponents of Christianity is truly horrifying, and sooner or later, that hatred brewed in words will spill over into actions. In the words of James, the brother of Jesus:
‘No human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. James’ analogy is from Jesus’ analogy about good and bad fruit in Matthew 7. What we say about others says volumes about who we really are. To revile others is a sin that calls for excommunication in the church (I Corinthians 5:11). He that says he loves God and hates his brother is a liar (I John 4:20).
And drama queen acts like this aren’t productive either.

The Bible would say otherwise about the words we speak – “By your words you will be justified and by your words you will be condemned” (Mathew 12:37), also Matthew 5:21-22:

As I said to Mumsee on another topic a couple of days ago, when professing Christians do evil in the name of the Bible, it is a very serious matter to God. The manifesto that Earnest is alleged to have released contains quotation from the Bible. I have seen that kind of Scripture quoting anti-Semitic material before. I am not blaming my brothers and sisters, I am warning them to be aware of this growing trend and to steer clear of it. “Faithful are the wounds of a friend” (Proverbs 27:6).
As for Muslims, am I supposed to condemn all Muslims for the evil some have done? Would you want others condemning all Christians because some, like Earnest, are full of hate? Just my statement warning that Earnest is not alone in that kind of hateful attitude and that other Christians have shown the same has prompted an accusation that I am blaming my brothers and sisters. Yet I never said that all Christians do so or that Christianity encourages hate, which is something I have seen said about all Muslims and Islam every time an Muslim extremist commits an attack. I have lived in a Muslim country, and I know they are simply human beings, some trying to do good and failing because they cannot be righteous in their own strength, and some finding justification for their evil deeds as fallen humanity does. They are in need of the Gospel of Christ, and I cannot bring them the Gospel if I hate them.
The bombings in Sri Lanka were terrible and I mourn with my brothers and sisters and have prayed for their peace. But the perpetrators who blew themselves up are now paying for their crimes in eternity. “Vengeance is mine”, saith the Lord, “I will repay” (Romans 12:19). I would not dare to try to make the rest of Muslims pay for the sins of a few, for, as that verse in Romans says, Christian are commanded not to seek vengeance. Furthermore as Christians, we expect persecution and hatred from the world, whether it be from Muslims, Jews, atheists, secularists, etc. But Christians are called by God to be different, to love our enemies and rejoice when we are persecuted (Matthew 5:11-12), with our Lord Jesus Christ being the supreme example of forgiving those who crucified him (Luke 23:34).
As she says above, Roscuro was not blaming all Christians, or saying that we all are hateful, but that there is a strain of that in some. If we’re not careful to call it out, it may spread.
It brings an ache to my heart when I see some of my fellow believers on social media expressing contempt (bordering on hated) for Muslims or liberals/Democrats or whomever. Or calling those they disagree with various epithets. Sometimes, even if no epithet is used, contempt and/or disrespect comes through in other ways.
There’s no hate being preached there, and he didn’t learn it there. While some individuals may hold some hateful, messed up views, it’s hardly a widespread phenom.
No one is doing evil in the name of the bible, not even the shooter. And yes, evil should be condemned and pointed out wherever it’s seen.
And while there may be punishment earned and due because of our tongues and bad thoughts in the eternal picture, it doesn’t follow that people will commit that evil just because they thought about it here on earth. You know this. Your attempt to justify it is just seems semantics using scripture. I could easily point to OT writings, thinking David and the like, who spoke most harshly about those who opposed God and acted wickedly toward others. Good people speak up, even when it’s not popular to do so. Prayers for the destruction of the wicked are found throughout God’s word.

“Barr’s testimony to House on Mueller in doubt amid dispute”
“The Justice Department has informed the House Judiciary Committee that Attorney General William Barr may skip a Thursday hearing on special counsel Robert Mueller’s report if committee lawyers seek to question him.
The Democratic-run committee plans to allow counsels from both sides to ask Barr about the Russia probe after the traditional round of questioning by lawmakers. Department officials also told the committee that they opposed a plan to go into a closed session if members wanted to discuss redacted portions of Mueller’s report, according to a senior Democratic aide on the committee, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the confidential communications with the department.
Justice Department spokeswoman Kerri Kupec said given that Barr had agreed to testify, lawmakers “should be the ones doing the questioning. He remains happy to engage with members on their questions regarding the Mueller report.”
Barr is scheduled to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday and the House panel on Thursday. The GOP-led Senate committee is expected to have normal rounds of member questioning.
It is unusual for committee counsels to question a witness. But committees can generally make their own rules, and other panels have made similar exceptions. In a confirmation hearing for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh last year, for example, Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee hired an outside prosecutor to question a witness who had accused Kavanaugh of sexual assault.
The dispute comes as tensions have escalated sharply between House Democrats and the Trump administration over full access Mueller’s report and government witnesses who have defied congressional subpoenas to testify. Democrats have been eagerly anticipating the hearing with Barr as they try to build on Mueller’s findings with their own investigations into the president.
House Democrats have subpoenaed the Justice Department for the unredacted version of the Mueller report and underlying material gathered from the investigation. In response, the Justice Department has said they will make the full report, minus grand jury material, available to a limited group of members — an offer that Democrats have so far refused. The dispute could eventually end up in court.
A spokeswoman for the top Republican on the committee, Rep. Doug Collins of Georgia, noted that Barr’s testimony is voluntary and criticized the Democrats for not reading the full report. “Democrats have yet to prove their demands are anything but abusive and illogical in light of the transparency and good faith the attorney general has shown our committee,” Jessica Andrews said.”

Until a crash in Ethiopia last October, Southwest Airlines thought the system came standard with the platform — so much so that their operating manuals included them.
Somehow, the news that the safety feature was an upgrade didn’t get mentioned to the FAA, either:
Boeing Co. didn’t tell Southwest Airlines Co. and other carriers when they began flying its 737 MAX jets that a safety feature found on earlier models that warns pilots about malfunctioning sensors had been deactivated, according to government and industry officials.

“We all knew something was fishy about Foxx’s office dropping the charges against Smollett out of nowhere. It turns out the double standard exists.
Cook County Judge Marc Martin presided “over an unrelated case” when he took shots at “Foxx and her office for creating a situation where anyone charged with filing a false report would expect the same leniency her office afforded Smollett.”
It turns out they don’t. Candace Clark, 21, faces one felony charge of making a false police report…the same charges Smollett faced. From FOX 32:
According to a transcript obtained by FOX 32, Judge Martin hammered prosecutors, asking, “I’d like to know why Ms. Clark is being treated differently than Jussie Smollett. It’s a disorderly conduct case. A lot less egregious than Mr. Smollett’s case. I have a problem with it.”
Prosecutors were demanding that Clark make full restitution of $2,800 and serve deferred prosecution, something not required of Smollett.
“Ms. Clark is not a movie star, she doesn’t have a high-priced lawyer,” said Judge Martin. “And this smells big time. Your office created this mess. There’s no publicity on this case. Press gets ahold of this; it’ll be the newspaper.”
Two Deputies Resigned
Foxx already lost two important people in her office: Ethics office April Perry and Conviction Integrity Unit Director Mark Rotert. Both submitted their resignation letters last week.
Foxx said that Perry was the one within the office that urged her to recuse herself from the case.
Rotert told The Chicago Sun-Times that his decision to resign “had absolutely zero percent to do” with the Smollett case. Perry never responded to the media’s request for comments.”

I have been seeing and commenting on a rising tide of hatred coming from conservative, professing Christians for several years now – I have a member of my own family who indulges in anti-semitic conspiracy theories and takes every opportunity he can to criticize the Jews, but I am well aware he is not alone in his views, as I have seen them elsewhere from those who claim Christianity and he gets most of his material from the internet. Jesus told us to love our enemies and bless them who curse us, and do good to those who hate us (Matthew 5:433-48); but what I see more and more from those calling themselves Christian in the West is a fleshly eagerness to justify their hatred of others. Love, Paul tells us, “bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things (I Corinthains 15); but I see an eagerness to snap up juicy news stories about one’s political/religious/idealistic opponents in order to increase one’s anger towards them. The angry words that I regularly read Christians spewing towards those they consider to be opponents of Christianity is truly horrifying, and sooner or later, that hatred brewed in words will spill over into actions. In the words of James, the brother of Jesus:
‘No human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so. Does a spring pour forth from the same opening both fresh and salt water? James’ analogy is from Jesus’ analogy about good and bad fruit in Matthew 7. What we say about others says volumes about who we really are. To revile others is a sin that calls for excommunication in the church (I Corinthians 5:11). He that says he loves God and hates his brother is a liar (I John 4:20).

The Bible would say otherwise about the words we speak – “By your words you will be justified and by your words you will be condemned” (Mathew 12:37), also Matthew 5:21-22:
“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’ But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.”
As I said to Mumsee on another topic a couple of days ago, when professing Christians do evil in the name of the Bible, it is a very serious matter to God. The manifesto that Earnest is alleged to have released contains quotation from the Bible. I have seen that kind of Scripture quoting anti-Semitic material before. I am not blaming my brothers and sisters, I am warning them to be aware of this growing trend and to steer clear of it. “Faithful are the wounds of a friend” (Proverbs 27:6).
As for Muslims, am I supposed to condemn all Muslims for the evil some have done? Would you want others condemning all Christians because some, like Earnest, are full of hate? Just my statement warning that Earnest is not alone in that kind of hateful attitude and that other Christians have shown the same has prompted an accusation that I am blaming my brothers and sisters. Yet I never said that all Christians do so or that Christianity encourages hate, which is something I have seen said about all Muslims and Islam every time an Muslim extremist commits an attack. I have lived in a Muslim country, and I know they are simply human beings, some trying to do good and failing because they cannot be righteous in their own strength, and some finding justification for their evil deeds as fallen humanity does. They are in need of the Gospel of Christ, and I cannot bring them the Gospel if I hate them.
The bombings in Sri Lanka were terrible and I mourn with my brothers and sisters and have prayed for their peace. But the perpetrators who blew themselves up are now paying for their crimes in eternity. “Vengeance is mine”, saith the Lord, “I will repay” (Romans 12:19). I would not dare to try to make the rest of Muslims pay for the sins of a few, for, as that verse in Romans says, Christian are commanded not to seek vengeance. Furthermore as Christians, we expect persecution and hatred from the world, whether it be from Muslims, Jews, atheists, secularists, etc. But Christians are called by God to be different, to love our enemies and rejoice when we are persecuted (Matthew 5:11-12), with our Lord Jesus Christ being the supreme example of forgiving those who crucified him (Luke 23:34).

As she says above, Roscuro was not blaming all Christians, or saying that we all are hateful, but that there is a strain of that in some. If we’re not careful to call it out, it may spread.
It brings an ache to my heart when I see some of my fellow believers on social media expressing contempt (bordering on hated) for Muslims or liberals/Democrats or whomever. Or calling those they disagree with various epithets. Sometimes, even if no epithet is used, contempt and/or disrespect comes through in other ways.

There’s no hate being preached there, and he didn’t learn it there. While some individuals may hold some hateful, messed up views, it’s hardly a widespread phenom.
No one is doing evil in the name of the bible, not even the shooter. And yes, evil should be condemned and pointed out wherever it’s seen.
And while there may be punishment earned and due because of our tongues and bad thoughts in the eternal picture, it doesn’t follow that people will commit that evil just because they thought about it here on earth. You know this. Your attempt to justify it is just seems semantics using scripture. I could easily point to OT writings, thinking David and the like, who spoke most harshly about those who opposed God and acted wickedly toward others. Good people speak up, even when it’s not popular to do so. Prayers for the destruction of the wicked are found throughout God’s word.
“O that Thou wouldst slay the wicked, O God; depart from me, therefore, men of bloodshed. For they speak against Thee wickedly, and Thine enemies take Thy name in vain. Do I not hate those who hate Thee, O Lord? And do I not loathe those who rise up against Thee? I hate them with the utmost hatred; they have become my enemies” (Ps. 139:19-22).

AJ – Roscuro was not blaming his church, nor suggesting that they preached hatred. To my understanding, she is pointing out that there is a growing strain (although still small, I believe and hope) of some Christians exhibiting hatred for Jews and others. She has seen it herself. We need to be aware of that sort of thing, and willing to address it if we see it crop up in someone we know.

Calling people barbarians because they’re still reliving the conquests and stuck in the 7th century, you know acting like barbarians, isn’t hateful. It’s a plain statement of fact. An inconvenient one it appears.
